Because your time was split between going to class and being fratty? I know, there's never enough time to squeeze in a random work study, 10 hour/week job.

No seriously, why no time for a job? Were you involved in a lot of campus activities/sports teams? Or like a triple major of some sort?

And relationships in college are the biggest waste of time ever. ESPECIALLY if you're Greek. Unless you go to college to find your future spouse, why waste your time?

Riiiiiiiiight, i can imagine filling out an application and listing reasons for the loan - koozies and t-shirts for rush.

I'll bite. I didn't pay my own dues in undergrad. But I paid for all extras (ex: shirts, Little Sis gifts, etc.) I also wouldn't have dared to look down on another person because they worked to pay for it (that was the norm at my school).

I paid for my dues (so are my younger siblings). My parents paid for my tuition and dorm/meal plan, but everything extra (sorority dues and other sorority things, other college activities, and in my case, dance costumes) I had to pay for. I got a job answering the phones in one of the department offices for 10 hours a week (and spent most of that time doing homework). It didn't pay a ton, but it paid my bills.

That's the reason I didn't rush when I first had the chance. I regret it everyday. Lesson learned. :o

Be lucky your dues are that low that you can pay them! If I had to pay for mine then I wouldn't be able to be in the sorority, they usually run over 1,000 without housing and close to 3,000 if you live in it! I am very thankful for my parents and it doesn't make me not involved. The financial stability of you or anyone isn't what makes you involved from the start, I know girls that parents pay their dues and they hardly come around and even some girls that pay their own and yet you never see them at the house.

Hopefully that $1-3000 will go to your baby. He/she will have a lot of needs.

My parents (and my student loans) paid for room & board and tuition. I paid for everything else-such as dues. I also didn't work during the school year, but in the summers I held 2 jobs and I worked crazy hours in the 6 weeks between thanksgiving and Christmas (my school was off during that time). I also learned to budget well and make decisions such as- do I need every single favor from every event?
