Sorry to be blunt about it, but anyone who shares your sentiment in uninformed.

Yes, they had access to some very good lawyers. That was fortunate, since they were being railroaded by the district attorney, whose handling of the case led to his disbarment for, among other things, fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation, making false statements of material fact before a judge, making false statements of material fact before bar investigators, and lying about withholding exculpatory DNA evidence. You can read the disbarment order here.

Yeah, you don't see rich boys getting a district attorney disbarred over nothing! That was a really sad and unfortunate incident that nearly ruined those students lives (and may still follow them.)

Thank you, MysticCat, for that.

My heart aches and I grieve for the families, for the University community, for everyone whose life is now altered forever by these losses. I am so frightened when I witness the anger and rage that I hear and see daily. So much suffering. Why?

Maybe. Anyway.

As long as people grasped what the perceived irony is.

I do, but the irony is the father's indignation not the guilt/innocence of the Duke lacrosse players.

You figured that out, too?

Next brain teaser: July 2010 comes after June 2010 and before August 2010.

Ya know, with Bret Michaels out of the hospital, water receding in Nashville, and Jimmy Hoffa being found in the oil spill...there isn't too much to discuss on GC.

I guess I'm glad that the UVA lacrosse teams decided to honor this young lady by finishing their winning seasons. Well, that was their press statement.

There's irony in that because didn't the Duke lacrosse team...I kid! I kid. :D

Somethings just seem a little crass.

Should they have ended their season?

This is the kind of decision that it is impossible to make the right one. People would complain if they ended the season, and people would complain if they didn't.

I agree. Continuing their season is hardly business as usual.

srmom 05-05-2010 11:50 AM

But, maybe, for the players involved, finishing the season would be the best decision in terms of honoring their slain fellow player and friend, and getting some closure; not to mention getting out there, and just for a bit, focussing on something other than this. It could be really helpful not just to the players, but to her family as well.

The decision will be up to them, and I'm sure there will be much prayerful soul searching about it.

This whole thing just makes me sick. I cannot imagine the grief. :(
