No, not you! Kevin posted something that seemed like it was revealing...but now he's deleted it.

Oh! Ok, I was really confused haha.

I think she's talking to me...

Yes, it was quite hilarious, I laughed all the way to work. When they came back off commercial, they just changed the subject like nothing ever happened.

ETA: Never mind, not me! :D

My friend Michael had not read the book and has not forgiven me to this day. Actually, he probably really hasn't forgiven me because then I got mad and blamed him for not telling me so that I wouldn't ruin the ending for him. See how it was all his fault?!

No, it's your fault. You should have used Prohibet Spoilerus.

I don't buy it. The real Harry Potter would never claim Privet Drive as his "location" if he could possibly help it. Besides, what are you, 29 now? Going through recruitment at a secondary school? Ginny's gotta love that. :p

At the time I wished I had a spell to wipe his memory!

^^^Psssst...."Obliviate." ;)

Well, I don't think he could. The only other places are Grimmauld Place (he wouldn't go there willingly, reminds him of Sirius)...Arthur's still Secret Keeper for the Burrow and Bill's SK for Shell Cottage. Which reminds me--->If Bill was SK for Shell Cottage and he told Ron, how was Ron able to tell Harry where Dobby should take them? None of the Order could tell Harry about Grimmauld Place, DD had to write him a note, so how was Ron able to spill the secret?

If there's one thing clear in the books, it's that the youthful Harry, like He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, considered Hogwarts his real home.

In any event, Harry was born on July 31, 1980 (per JKR) or July 31, 1982 (per description in the first chapter of Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone). That means he will be 29 (or 27) this coming Friday. (Happy Birthday, Harry!) He left Privet Drive for good just before his 17th birthday, or 12 (10?) years ago. He has kids now, yet he's going through recruitment at a secondary school in Scotland?

Now, if this were Harry Potter's Retro Recruitment thread, then maybe . . . . ;)

I think that the Fidelius Charm was placed after the incident at Malfoy Manor -- when it became clear that Ron was with Harry, not at the Burrow with Spattergoit -- and after Harry, Ron and Hermione arrived at Shell Cottage. That's when the Weasley's had to go into hiding.

christiangirl 07-27-2009 11:08 PM

^^^^Aaaahhhh yes...right on both counts, yes. But Harry & Co can't be living at Hogwarts now...perhaps they built a home near the Burrow? Perhaps on one of the neighboring hills? Either that or in Godric's Hollow.

Wait, why on earth are we debating the location of a GC user imitating a fictional character?!?!?!

Silly muggles

Can't we all just sit back and enjoy this thread? Why does it have to be under such debate?

I wrote this as a way to discretely share my recruitment story in a (hopefully!) entertaining way.

But I appreciate all of your efforts in trying to disclose my location.. heh :).

HarryPotter 07-27-2009 11:47 PM

To christiangirl,

Early September. Can't wait.

Wow, and I thought the threads talking about SCOTUS were nerdy.

(MysticCat, your range of knowledge know no bounds.)

You know how at some high schools, at the start of the year, the kids will do senior shirts with their nicknames names on the back? (Yes, I recognize this is distinctly unfratty, and I'm sure it embarrasses college kids to admit they did it.)

The year that the appropriate book came out, I overheard one guy commenting that he regretted not getting "Dumbledore Dies" on the back of his shirt.
