Did I ever tell you guys what a nerd I am? I can name an AWFUL lot of chapter designations. I know almost all of the active single-letter chapters (but I often forget Rho @ Ohio Wesleyan) and all of the Eta *something* chapters. I know most of the CA schools and a bunch of other random ones. Quiz me! Quiz me!

Nah, then you'll think I'm cheating and just looking it up online...

My association had our third annual afternoon tea today. We had perfect fall weather for it too. But I wish it wasn't so hard to get people involved.

Update on my chapter designation nerdiness: I quizzed myself and got 59 right. Omg I'm such a freaking nerd!!! There are a few in CA I still can't remember because they rhyme (Epsilon Psi - UCSB, Epsilon Pi, UCR, Epsilon Xi - CSUN). I wonder if there's a position for "Historian in Training"? Or maybe just "Supreme Kappa Nerd"?

Here's a test, put the following chapters in order according to founding date (no cheating! ;) ).

Kappa
Gamma Rho
Beta Tau
Sigma
Alpha Deuteron
Beta Zeta
Chi
Theta
Delta
Beta Delta

I'll let our self-proclaimed Supreme Kappa Nerd go for this, but is this a trick question? Or is really it as (relatively) easy as I think it is?

ETA: This makes me think of an incident yesterday in the elevator at work. Someone asked if I was enjoying the sunshine, which sounds like a simple question. But I didn't know whether she was being serious (because it was sunny) or sarcastic (because it's fall and gloomy and rainy). When I looked out the window after I got to my floor, I saw there was indeed sun so she was being serious. But I didn't know how to respond when she asked :D Part of living in Seattle, I suppose!

Aww I know there are some weird Beta ** ones. Are we talking original founding dates?

Alpha Deuteron - Monmouth
Delta - Indiana
Theta - Missouri
Kappa - Hillsdale
Chi - Minnesota

Ha! I'm not gonna pretend to know where BZ, BD, BT, and GR go. Well Gamma Rho must be last. Allegheney? I can't spell that at all! Wahhh my bubble has been burst! Ok, I'm gonna go look now.

ETA: How the hell did I get Allegheny right? Wooo! Ok, I put it in the wrong place, but I'm stoked I got the right school!

It should go: Alpha Deuteron, Delta, Theta, Chi, Kappa, Beta Zeta, Beta Tau, Gamma Rho, Beta Delta. Hmmm weird!

It was a trick question (I know, so mean).

In order:
Alpha Deuteron - Monmouth - 1870
Delta - Indiana - 1872
Theta - Missouri - 1875
Chi - Minnesota - 1880
Kappa - Hillsdale - 1881
Beta Zeta - Iowa - 1882
Beta Tau - Syracuse - 1883
Sigma - Nebraska - 1884
Gamma Rho - Allegheny - 1888
Beta Delta - Michigan - 1890

Yes, so mean indeed. Do you know why they went out of order, by chance? The only thing I can think of would be that A colonized earlier than B but B chartered first?

Or maybe it was just for fun to confuse people? At Microsoft there's an inside joke that new employees are sent to building 7 to get their badges... Building 7 was never built, and badges were actually in bld 8. But people usually figured it out because 8 is right by where 7 theoretically would be. Although now it's not as fun because a new orientation building was constructed so badges are no longer at bld 8. But I'm sure people will find another way to bring up the illustrious bld 7.

Are we going to get a 2009 ornament anytime before Christmas?

No offense, but you really didn't have to. It wasn't that hard to figure out.

Yeah but I don't want you think I meant that in a bad way. Nerdy chicks are not bad, they're just different. The fact that you play with chickens is not a bad thing, I just don't know of any chicks who do that shit.

I can't tell you how hard I laughed at these last two comments!! Freaking hilarious!

Back to Kappa randomness: one of my Key Sisses moved back home to Virginia and her current school (George Mason) doesn't have a Kappa chapter. She put up a pic on Facebook last night of the Ole Miss Kappa house and tagged me and a few others in it. I guess she was down there for a friend's birthday. So cute!
