Okay, I just looked up the movie ending on wiki (I can't STAND not knowing how a movie ends when I already know the beginning--I'm too nosy to not know what I'm walking into before I see it). Yes, I'm mad at the change, but not as mad as I would be if the whole ending was wrapped up in a pretty bow. They could've done worse, but it really takes from the irony of the whole thing to have it end this way. If I were Jodi, I wouldn't have let them change the plot at all.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! So, once again Jodi Picoult doesn't disappoint with the ending of the book. What did you think of the book?

As for "My Sister's Keeper," I want to see the movie but hate that the ending has been changed. I think I am going to wait for the DVD. I too am sick of Hollywood having to give us happy endings.

I had to put the book down, because the beginning seemed a little slow-but I just don't think I was in the mood for it at the time. Once I picked it up again, I finished it in 2 days. (The first quarter took me over a month.) I liked it much better than her last 19 Minutes and 10th Circle. She is on a 1 book a year mode, and I think it affected the quality of her work for a little while. I really liked the ending-even though it is sad.

What were your impressions?

Not to deviate to much from My Sisters Keeper, but her newest book, Handle with Care is actually pretty good.

As for the movie, I too went to wiki and am disappointed with the change in the ending. They should have kept the book ending. Plus, it kind of sucks that they cut out the character of Julia and changed the fact that the son is a pyro.

I just looked it up too. I prefer the movie ending, for the reasons I stated earlier in the thread that I hated the book ending. But I do agree that completely changing a book like that is awful.

Julia was such a big part of the book. I had not heard that they cut her out of the movie, but that makes me sad. I was kind of looking forward to that side story.

As for "Handle With Care," her latest book, I can honestly say that with all of her books that I have read...I gasped out loud at the end. She loves to throw a curve ball in at the end of her books, but was not expecting that.

I like her books. She is very good at telling a story. Sometimes I have trouble with the beginnings of her books. They are slow, but I think that is because there is so much "back story" that she needs to tell it can get bogged down. However, once the story gets rolling, I don't want to put the book down.

I am determined to read her first book this summer! I've started it already a few times. Has anyone else read it?

I would have to say that the ending was definitely not predictable in Handle with Care. I think maybe that's why I liked it better than the last few.

Just as a side note, I have a picture with Jodi Picoult in my phone. It's blurry as heck, but it's there!

I too didn't expect the ending of Handle with Care, but I kind of wish she had given like an epilogue of what "happened" with the family. I mean she kind of did, but...I don't know it was a curve ball but I was like "that's it", "no more", "I don't get to read about peoples reactions".

As for My Sisters Keeper, I loved the ending of the book, now that was something I wasn't expecting. To change the movie the way they did, was what I did expect from the book. If that makes any sense at all.
