I don't like it. We had a group for our chapter and friends that we kept open that I've had to close because things people were writing on it were showing up in their activity for all their friends to see. I didn't mind it being open if people wanted to investigate and find it but this is like putting stuff out on a silver platter.
Oh, and if facebook is going to make changes, how about these: -A list of pending friend requests -A list of who turned down your friend request. I don't mind if people do, but I forget who I sent what and I don't want to look like an a-hole requesting them over and over. |
I hate the new look I really want the old Facebook back. I didn't mind the changes over the summer, but this is crazy.

It looks like Facebook may be listening
Facebook users haven't exactly been reticent about their dislike for Facebook's recent redesign. And Facebook staff want you to know they're listening.
Facebook has been deluged with feedback on its new layout, much of it negative but constructive, according to a blog posted Tuesday by Product Director Christopher Cox. Hundreds of thousands of people gave the redesign a thumbs-down in a user poll. And groups like "MEMBERS WANT THE OLD FACEBOOK BACK!" have formed to voice their discontent. While the social network isn't reverting back to the old page design, they are making a handful of changes to appease some of the outraged masses, according to Cox, who has also worked as director of human resources and software engineer at the company. Some of the changes already in the works include: Live updating: Users will have the ability to turn on auto updating so they don't have to refresh the page to see what's new. Photo tags: Facebook will add photos tagged with a person's friends to her stream. Applications: Users will have the ability to cut down on the application-related content that's showing up in streams. Highlights: This section in the right-hand column will update more frequently and show more content so it'll be more like the old News Feed. Requests: Friend requests and event invites will be moved to the top of the right-hand column so they're more prominent. Friends lists: Users will be able to create a new list of friends with which to filter their streams. From the post: "Over time, we'll continue to give you more control over what's in your main stream and how you consume it. We have the eventual goal of building filters that summarize this activity so you can see a more condensed view of what's been going on. We're also thinking about ways of filtering out some of the Wall posts and content directed to specific people to focus more on posts shared with everyone." Link |
I really like the live updating and moving the requests back to the corner. I think the requests at the top was my biggest beef with the new layout.

I know someone who is going to freak out about this. He had FB drama yesterday because one of the women he is dating posted pics of the two of them doing things together and tagged him. Another woman he is dating saw them and freaked out on him. Both women KNEW he was dating others too and claimed to be doing the same and claimed they were ok with it. Woman #2 went ballastic though, ranting on and on about how hurt she was. Kinda crazy. All because the pics were posted on HIS wall. If those pics had been in her stream too, yikes! |

They just moved the Friend Requests back to the top right corner!

It seems like I have been getting a lot of friend request from people I dont know every since this change. Now thats strange
|
I want to see the status updates of my friends - not every damned thing that they post or every conversation that they have, what we have now is totally useless. I cannot count on seeing any of my friends items because the sheer volume of all the crap we get drives everything off the page in a very short time, and of course, no one can see my stuff. It is all spam and all useless now.
Yet..... I'll still continue to use it. |

My notifications also only used to be "real" notifications, when someone responded to my status or sent me a wall post or Alpha Gam gift, etc. Now, 90% of my notifications are spam for apps. But, I guess that's helping pay for FB, so I'll deal with it.

The only thing that's really annoying me right now are all the news feed posts about every quiz my friends take, and the results. I was able to cut out the "gift" notifications, but haven't figured out how to limit those.
