You have to live in Orange County to attend an Orange County magnet school. Lake Mary isn't in Orange county, so he/you (you are, after all, the same person) can't go to an Orange County magnet school. Check the application instructions on schoolchoice.ocps.net if you don't believe me.

New Smyrna is about 50 minutes away from Lake Mary on the backroads. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Lake...na+Beach&2s=FL
Cocoa Beach is almost an hour and a half. Daytona is about the closest at 45 minutes, next time you want to lie.

Also, how exactly do you state, emphatically, that surfers in Florida don't drink. Is surfing now a religion that doesn't believe in alcohol? I'll give you a hint, I grew up in Florida (not that part, near Jax, but still). I know surfers. The ones I know drink.

I really don't get the point of this lie.

oh and surfers do not call waves 7-10 footers. waves are measured in relation to the body (chest high, head high, overhead, etc), mainly because there is no uniform way of measuring a wave in feet (from the back? the face? trough to lip?)

ALSO, the wave pool produced shit with hardly any push.

kid is a flame

I am speechless. Unless the laughter counts as speech.

Don't mean to hijack, but I've seen a good number of rushees go to a rush event in shorts and "surfer shirts." Maybe not board shorts, but shorts nonetheless. Oh, and sandals.

At Ole Miss?

This is silly!

Just to weigh in, my oldest son is an avid surfer in Florida, transplanted from Texas - but spends just about every spare moment at St. Augustine. He has been extremely involved in the University of Florida Surf Club/Team - which is pretty much a drinking club, and YES, true surfers in Florida drink.

Look up some of the Homecoming floats the Surf Club has done; they are always double deck like a pirate ship because the lower deck is a bar! They (or the vast majority) all drink like fish!

What they DON'T do is pledge fraternities. ;)

My oldest's comment when we asked if he was going to rush was, "Why would I want to be someone else's bi*ch?" Sums the surfer attitude up...

FWIW...
You can even surf on Lake Erie when the conditions are right. I see it all of the time.
