Years ago, and I think it was in an earlier incarnation of GreekChat, there was a china and silver thread in Chit Chat. Maybe it needs to be found, or a new one started?

Man, I put my mother on strict orders, no silver, but more importantly NO CHRISTMAS CHINA. I have Villeroy and Boch dishes, and I drink every day out of my crystal. I am not a believer in saving stuff for "special." But my Mom has Lenox china, including the Christmas. One of my sisters has Waechtersbach (hate it!) and one has Spode (love it, but there's no way I'm investing that much in dishes you use once, maybe twice a year).
All of you who do have your real silver and good china, pull that stuff out of the cabinet and USE IT. Thursday is reason enough to celebrate. On an interesting note, at the travel agency I used to work at, the silverware in the office kitchen was actual silver. Leave it to an agency in Newport Beach to use real silver in the office kitchen :O |
So um how about that 75 yard run?
|
Well, I use my silver and crystal and good china pretty regularly. Love my Waterford - Lismore, of course.
And I set my dining table with my Spode Christmas Tree china after Thanksgiving and leave it up till after Christmas. Lovely decoration. |

http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/31...amm_medium.gif That's Channing Ward, not Jeff Scott who made the 75 yard run, but it's the same game. One of my friends is going to name her first born Jeff Scott, regardless of gender she says! |
Holy Crap that 75 yard run followed by that SWEET interception my poor husband didn't think he was going to get me to go to bed afterwards I was so excited! Hotty Toddy! LOVE LOVE LOVE this discussion--- I am a Gorham Fairfax girl- but only because it was my husbands grandmothers pattern and she left ALL of her silver to him when she died.. so I have full service for 28! My mother was a Francis I girl and was a little miffed I didn't go with hers, but understood the importance of having enough full settings for everyone!
Agree with DubaiSis- USE YOUR STUFF- life's too short!!! I use my good stuff as much as I can- LOVE LOVE LOVE my waterford Ballymore crystal, I did Villeroy and Bosch as my everyday and then my mother and I got into a fight over my fine so I have one Lenox pattern (hers) and one Wedgewood that compliments it :-) and YES I do have Christmas china as well...(of course! :-) ) Sorry I am something of a place-setting 'ho (I love the stuff).... none of my "yankee" in-laws understand (and I think my SIL's thought I was being 'pretentious' with my registry)-- oh well it's a "southern thing" |
