Is it possible that quota/chapter total could be set lower due to ADPi's colonization?

Lord, Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change those I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Rebelpnm, don't concern yourself with quota/total There will be a place for you if you have your ducks in a row. Worry about presenting your best self. That's all you can do.

But generally, no, quota is not lowered when there is a colonization coming. And total isn't looked at till after the colonization so that's not relevant.

I will! Thank you!

Some of the girls who have already narrowed their options will be all right, just about 200 - 350 of them. Those PNMs already know a bunch of people in those houses and have been to camp and cotillion with those girls. They will make their debuts at the same debutante societies, and are likely legacies multiple times over. Those favored few chapters will not be likely to ever participate in COB or Spring Informal recruitment as they push their fourth and fifth year members out the door to make room for the next class. Those same favored chapters are very reluctant to take sophomores, so dropping out and re-rushing next year is unlikely to make a difference for a choosy PNM.

The rest of the PNMs need to keep an open mind if they want the Greek experience. Everyday, when the PNM gets her invitations back, the chapters that invited her are the ONLY ones on that campus for that PNM. A chapter has indicated an interest in getting to know that PNM better, and she should be very grateful. Sadly not everyone can be an Ole Miss Greek, but keeping an open mind makes it a possibility. Every PNM class is nearly big enough at Ole Miss to change the entire personality of a chapter. So, if you don't like what you see now, stick around and "Be The Change You Want To See."

Best Wishes and Good Luck To All the Ole Miss PNMs!

^^^^^^^
This is quite possibly the best advice I have ever seen for a PNM at Ole Miss, or anywhere else for that matter.

When my daughter was a PNM at Ole Miss last year, these were points that we emphasized. She LOVES her GLO, but still concedes that recruitment was very stressful. PNMs would be very wise to heed this sage advice.

Have a great recruitment! :)

Agree 100%. MP knows her stuff!

Mississippi Delta born, Mississippi Delta bred, and one day will be Mississippi Delta dead.

And my silver pattern is Francis the First (dinner size.)

Titchou 08-29-2013 07:59 PM

Really? Francis I????? That trumps my Old Maryland Engraved....

ElvisLover 08-29-2013 08:17 PM

MP, oh, Dear Lord, that's my Blue Blood Mother's pattern! Mine is Wallace Grand Baroque, so she's skipping a generation and giving hers to her namesake who happens to be getting married in June!

MaryPoppins 08-29-2013 08:57 PM

My Mama is a Buttercup, like my Grandmother before, and the Great Grandmother before her. My Aunt, my Mother's elder Sister decided I would be FTF, like her, since she had no daughters, and Mama had no say in it, nor did I since I had just been born. Almost sounds like GOT, doesn't it?

Sciencewoman 08-29-2013 09:04 PM

Even some of us Yankee gals get the same silver patterns as our Mamas and Grandmothers...International Prelude in my case. ;)

Nanners52674 08-29-2013 09:11 PM

I might be a Yankee but I too will one day be a Wallace Grand Baroque girl. My mother (she has it currently) was actually shocked when she found out I wanted my grandmother's silver. I still don't understand why she ever thought I wouldn't want it. What was she going to do, sell it

Well, it is worth a lot of money! When I saw the price for my silver goblets on Replacements, Inc, I almost sold them! $350 x 5.....hmmm...

And my sister had Grand Baroque but then got our grandmother's silver (I already had mine). It's an odd, sort of long discontinued pattern - Manchester by Manchester....

Anyone with Chantilly??????

It's an insane amount of money! We sold the tea set not long ago and I was astounded at what it went for.

I started with Eloquence (Lunt), but I'm seriously thinking of switching out to Grande Baroque. There's so many extra items available in Grande Baroque!

SigKapSweetie 08-30-2013 12:05 AM

Any other Burgundy belles here?

This is fun - I don't recall this topic coming up before on GC. Perhaps we should start a thread?
