Hi Corina,

I've presented your case to Nationals, and they have agreed to look into expanding at UC Santa Cruz. Before we continue, I want to be absolutely certain that you ladies are prepared to give up your letters, and be a part of our intake and expansion process, keeping in mind that your intake and ours is most probably different.

Am I correct in saying that all of the members of Nu Beta Omicron are interested in expanding nationally to Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc.? If so, we need to address the possible scenario of some of the girls (for one reason or another), dropping out or losing interest in Theta Nu Xi. If this happens, will they remain a chapter/entity of Nu Beta Omicron on the campus?

Please discuss this with the other ladies in your group, and let me know your thoughts & comments. I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully, beginning the process of expansion and colonization! Corina, I am really excited about this, and if you have any questions at all, feel free to give me a call -

By the way (Corina again now) if you haven't looked at the website for this org, I highly recommend it. Not only their national but also many of their chapters have SUCH amazing websites...we all wanted to be members just based on that!

Corina,

As you see from our website, we just added two new colonies late last year. I've been a member for almost a yeat, and believe me when I tell you joining Theta Nu Xi was the best thing I every did. I'm not going to try and sell you on my organization. That would be unfair. I'm glad that you are interested in my organization. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me

pinkyphimu 04-26-2003 03:14 AM

Do you want to start a multi-cultural? Nothing wrong with it, but that is VERY different from NPC. And I thought the whole point was to start an NPC group?

James raises an interesting point. I hope that you and your NBO Sisters strongly weigh all of your options including NPCs. It is nice that Theta Nu Xi is interested in NBO. :)

navane 04-27-2003 08:52 PM

If I remember correctly, there was one point in the saga where some of the NBO ladies expressed to Corina that they wanted to consider a multi-cultural org. After some discussion, they decided to stay the course with an NPC. However, it would appear that they are revisiting the idea of affiliating with a MCGLO.

.....Kelly :)

wishinhopin 04-28-2003 12:13 AM

We have decided that considering groups individually, as opposed to which category they fit into (ie NPC, etc). So basically we were so impressed with Theta Nu Xi, that the lack of NPC affiliation is not a huge problem for us. Things just didn't work out with NPC, so hopefully this will be a better fit for us.

More later.....

We offered bids to four great women tonight! Yay us!

AOIIalum 04-28-2003 07:11 AM

Congrats on your 4 New Members, Corina! Look out world, NBO is growing every day!

Corina -
I think this statement sums up all the wisdom & maturity that you and your sisters have gained throughout this long process! You are a remarkable woman with great spirit and I wish you the best!!

Congrats on your new members as well

wishinhopin 05-02-2003 05:01 PM

Hi everyone,

Theta Nu Xi is sending us a declaration of interest packet, and Nicole (extension coordinator for ONE) said shes really excited about the possibiliy of expanding this far West. I'm really excited. Plus, not sure if I mentioned this, we have two more girls that we interviewed who we will be offering bids to today...if they accept then we will have a pledge class of six women, more than we've ever had! More later!

Corina

gamma_girl52 05-02-2003 05:11 PM

Way To Go!!

I've been following this thread for a long time but just never posted.

I'm glad that NBO is looking at other kinds of sororities like MGLOs, especially Theta Nu Xi--they are a great group. I hope that everything works out for ya'll! Go NBO :D

DGMarie 05-02-2003 06:10 PM

Good Luck!!!

I hope all works with ONE. I've read you're whole story and it really sounds like this one would be a good match for you.

corina you and your girls are on a roll.
i am so excited for you.

zchi2 05-05-2003 03:05 PM

WOW I just finished reading the ENTIRE tread http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...ua/stongue.gif

I can't believe all of the ups and downs your group experienced. I hope everything works out with Theta Nu Xi. So what made you all decide to go with a non-NPC group? I know that you expressed the wish to be apart of a group with an big alumnae base, so I was wondering what made you decide to go with a relatively new organization?

XOMichelle 05-05-2003 03:11 PM

I think they are still looking at Theta Nu Xi... they may or may not go with them.

bsp-mich24 05-06-2003 03:28 AM

Wow! I'm impressed and just finished reading the last page of the thread.:D

bruinaphi 05-06-2003 02:03 PM

Congratulations on your pledge class. You guys are doing a great job!

wishinhopin 05-08-2003 03:58 PM

Hi everyone,

Update:
Right now we are waiting to receive a Declaration of Interest packet from Theta Nu Xi. I'm not entirely sure what happens after that, but I'm assuming we fill out a bunch of forms and then they review them and then...thing happen, I dunno, I haven't gotten that far in the thought process yet. As far as people asking why we're interesting in Theta Nu Xi, as opposed to NPC groups, or groups with large alum groups. etc. I guess my best explanation is to say that I am not willing to compromise the goals or beliefs of my sorority, just to affiliate. I want to make sure that who we affiliate with matches us and our important qualities seamlessly- and the only NPC groups to do that have not been interested in us, or willing to provide us with the level of support we need to thrive. So, rather than pursue a group who's values aren't congruent with ours (which is not to say that they are wrong or "bad" values in any way) we are chosing to place our interest with a smaller group that closely parallels our own. Optimist Prime designed a coat of arms for us, and on it he wrote (in Latin) "Honor Before Glory". I think that is a really good goal for us to aim towards, and one that I hope we've been able to accomplish thus far. In related news, we officially have SIX GREAT PLEDGES! I am SO excited. We all picked out our little sis's (I don't know how to pluralize that word) and we're very happy with all of them. Unfortunately Sandy (one of my sisters who lives in the house with us) is leaving in June :(, but we will still be at a total of 11 active members then and that is a whole lot for us! I'm very happy about that. More later, nap time now.

Corina

pinkyphimu 05-08-2003 09:21 PM

good for you corina! it is great to hear that you are exploring all of your options. keep up the good work and have a great time with your new lil sis!!

His very decent and civilized comment was followed with, 'or at least get a handee (handjob)'. MTV cameras zoomed in on his smiling face, exposing the world to Santa Cruz's universal value towards women. What better way to promote equality for the opposite gender, then by publicly announcing that some obediant woman with make a man dinner, complete with spaghetti, meatballs, Alpha Psi 'pussy', and a side of Alpha Psi 'handee'. Anyone care to say grace?"

And the members of Alpha Psi want to become Alpha Phis? I hope that doesn't happen if they are the kind of people who would choose to participate in something so completely inappropriate and disrespectful.

Anyway, Corina, you go with your bad self!!! You really are amazing!

wishinhopin 05-16-2003 05:09 PM

Have you ever had one of those weeks when honestly every single possible crappy thing that could happen does? I've got no money, midterms that refuse to end (seriously, we have so many each quarter and in each class that I have at least one every single week), and a super stressful bunch of crap to deal with at work. Trying to get promoted is really much more difficult than I ever realized. And one of our pledges is apparently depledging, which is disapointing because she's an awesome girl and I was really happy she was going to become a sister. I have so much paperwork to do for Theta Nu Xi, and I don't know how I'm going to be able to get everything done! Sooooo stressed. I am really happy about the pledges we do have, and we picked little sis's recently and I'm super excited about the girl I got! More later, someone write and tell me that everything is going to be ok please :(
Corina

FuzzieAlum 05-16-2003 05:19 PM

Everyhting will be OK. You will survive this. Even the midterms!

DeltaBetaBaby 05-16-2003 06:37 PM

Corinna,
I hate to say it, but depledging happens in every org; big or small, national or local, top tier or bottom. Greek life just isn't for everyone, and some women realize that a bit later than others. Just realize that it has notion to do with your org., and there is nothing you could have done differently that would have made her stay.

Peaches-n-Cream 05-16-2003 06:48 PM

Everything will be ok! :)
