No, I just don't know what you think this "proves" other than that so far, the Pac10 has won the most games and the Big 10, ACC and SEC have ALL won 2 games. And....???

And as of 12/31, the SEC remains the only undefeated conference in bowl games at 4-0. You can spout all the other stats you like, but SECDomination said his record posting was for those of us that think bowl game W-L indicates which conference is the best. Actually, this is just very entertaining and heart-warming for us SEC fans.

Has anyone ever seen worse calls than in the FSU-Kentucky game?

FHwku 01-01-2008 08:00 AM

i hope the SEC goes undefeated in bowl games this year. we went 6-3 last year.

Does it also mean that less SEC teams have been bowl eligible?

The SEC had 10 of 12 teams bowl eligible (83.3%) with 9 teams (75%) earning bowl bids. As of this morning, the SEC is 4/4 (100%) and the only undefeated conference. With four more games today and the National Championship game next week, we'll see what happens.

Team (Ranking) Record Bowl Bid/Results

Georgia (4) 10-2 Sugar Bowl

Tennessee (16) 9-4 Won Outback Bowl

Florida (9) 9-3 Lost to Michigan in Capital One Bowl!!!

Kentucky 8-5 WON Music City!!!

South Carolina 6-6 Bowl eligible--no bid

Vanderbilt 5-7 Not eligible

LSU (2) 11-2 BCS Championship Game

Auburn (22) 9-4 Won Chick-fil-A bowl

Arkansas (25) 8-4 Lost Cotton Bowl

Mississippi State 8-5 Won Liberty Bowl

Alabama 7-6 Won Independence Bowl

Mississippi 3-9 Not Eligible

Are we a little biased?

They should win, based on the way the SEC puts together recruiting classes. Speaking only on the Big Ten and SEC... the Big Ten instituted a policy where teams could oversign by no more than three players. The SEC is among the conferences with no guidelines.

According to Scout.com, SEC teams lined up an average of 101 commitments during the 2004-07 period. The Big Ten Teams averaged 85 recuits for the same time period.\

For the 2007 year alone the number of average recruits per conference were as follows:

SEC 26.3
Conf USA 25.3
Big 12 25.1
Big East 24.4
MWC 23.8
Pac 10 22.7
MAC 21.8
ACC 21.7
Sunbelt 21.6
WAC 21.4
Big Ten 19.9

The only thing I can compare this with is the Yankees total salaries vs. the rest of baseball.

Worst officiating I've ever seen! (besides last year's UF v Auburn game) It was bad on both sides. I'm actually surprised that FSU didn't win because Kentucky kept trying to give it away!

No kidding. Kentucky should have won that game like 49 to 0!

Way to start a bowl game, Michigan.. with a 93 yard trek to that first touchdown. GO BLUE!

Benzgirl 01-01-2008 06:01 PM

Congrats to Michigan and Lloyd Carr.
SEC domination no more!!!!

Thank you Sister!!!!! Michigan tried to give the game away numerous times and Florida still didn't win it! I'm quite happy for my Dad and brother though (who were at the game in their Michigan gear) and especially for Chad Henne and Lloyd Carr.

The boy's a Michigan alumnus and this season he made me wake up at 7am on Saturdays just to watch the Michigan games, and, well...you know what kind of season they've had. What a way to send off the seniors and Coach Carr!

The boy is in Fort Myers, FL with 30 of his family members right now (the majority of whom are alums as well). It's pure pandemonium.

It was really, really, nice to see an SEC team go down for once. :)

nittanyalum 01-01-2008 06:14 PM

Oop, you beat me to it, Benz. ;) I was just going to check in to see how SEC"dom" is doing -- you ok, guy? Still with us? What a game.

What's really crazy is that you all now have me rooting FOR Michigan and Ohio State, 2 things I swore I'd never do. I started off just batting back and forth with the Frat-tastic One who kept dismissing Big 10 football as a whole (while his team plays in the ACC -- ?!?). But now, in the interest of wanting to see the SEC eat the enormous egos they've displayed here, I was screaming for the Wolverines and I guess I'll be doing the same for the Buckeyes.

So though I have to hold my nose while saying it, GO BLUE.

ETA: No offense to my sisters from 2 those institutions and the ones they love... ;) :)

To ALL of the above-YES!
And I too may be forced to think some sort of positive thoughts for the team from Ohio:eek:
BTB-From what I heard during the game, both Michigan and Ohio own the SEC.

Thank You Loyd. Many doubted you, but your true fans always stood by you. Thank you for doing Michigan (and Riverview!) proud!

AGDee 01-01-2008 06:35 PM

I'll be rooting for OSU too. I won't even sing the alternate fight song that a Detroit disc jockey wrote years ago. First I root for Michigan, then all other Big 10 teams... even OSU!
