Which chapter was Ronald Reagan a member of?

T. Rod O'Neal 01-07-2002 01:37 PM

Frater Reagan was initiated at Iota Chapter, Eureka College, Eureka, Ill.

He is fond of relating how washing dishes at the Teke House enabled him to remain in school and get a quality education.

Frater,

I thought Frater Murphy was the Exec. VP for TKE, not the Grand Prytanis. Grand Prytanis is a volunteer position. EVP is a paid position. Just another guess that Frater Labranche was the most recent Omicron Grand Prytanis.

You are correct DNTKE! I got my facts and words mixed up. Thanks for correcting me.:D

TKE Bell's

Here is a question for you or EC. I don't have an answer, but would be interested in how this started.

Why do so many TKE Chapters have a bell at the house. Either in the yard or on a trailer to take to ball games and parades.
Its sort of like the Pikes and firetrucks or KA's and cannons.

One to ponder?

I am not sure but the earliest one I remember of was Beta Delta chapter, U of Maryland, had a TEKE Bell. Many, many others got
them, mostly from old schools or churches. Several fraternities
would swipe the Teke Bell, often dumping it into the river. A goodly number of chapters had them, and old TEKE magazines
might be a clue or some old codger older than me may know. I
would say U of MD (chapter now inactive) was certainly on of the
first. Some chapters built trailers and had elaborate bells. A
good idea, some places it worked. Some TKE chapters have fire trucks, like alpha upsilon chapter at Fort Hays, in KS, home
of Grand Council member Dr. Herb Songer. Erik of Denver
