Yea, I don't get many challenges. Are there people who ask me why I joined an Asian fraternity? Hahaha, all the time, but that's to be expected. I'm pretty involved in the community and to the ideals of the organization, so I don't think many people question me.

However, I have seen white kids who come to our Rush just because they want to get Asian girls. Usually they aren't received very well at all, naturally.

So, I understand why people would question me, but I disprove the doubters with my actions.

Pretty much second all that (even the part about getting Asian girls, although in this case it's girls looking to get black men ... people can be so ridiculous).

Around here, most white people don't really know much about BGLOs and don't recognize my letters anyway, so they don't pay any attention. With people who do know - black or white or whatever - it really depends on where I am what kind of looks I get. I think a lot of times people think I don't know what it is I'm wearing ...

LMAO that people think you don't know what you're wearing!

It's funny, people will give me these real suspicious looks in stores & whatnot, like maybe I just bought my shirt b/c I thought it looked cool or something

"Ooh, pretty random letters! I like red better than pink, I'll buy this one!"

I think every organization serves its purpose. If predominantly African American organizations didn't exist then I wouldn't be in one. Communiny service is great, that's one of the reasons why all GLOs exist. But what about the fun of it. I don't think I would have any fun at all in predominantly white fraternity. I like the step shows and the parties we have and the whole culture. I don't drink so I can't see sitting in a frat house binge drinking and stuff like that. To me that's not fun. Everyone has their own opinion though, and this just happens to my opinion.

I've only seen a few nonblack women wearing our symbols. My first instinct is to be like "hello...Soror?????" (notice the question marks)

I know what you mean. My undergrad chapter had an Asian member transfer into our chapter. Only we met her BEFORE we knew who she was. We were like  . We later had a white girl go through the chapter too. We'd be at a party and she'd be struttin' and OMG, you should have seen the faces when she stayed on beat and did her thang!!! Fun times.

Yes. Both were on beat and on the step team. When the white soror crossed over, her line name was "AbraKadabrA" :D
