That is awesome for DPhiE!

Also, an update for University of Texas. Even though quota was lower, chapter total has been adjusted up to 255.

University of North Texas Quota was 40 Kappa Delta 42.

Can't remember if I have already posted or not but chapter total at Texas A&M was adjusted to 284.

(says the person who never posts in this thread ever)

Or we could, you know, act Panhellenic and stop obsessing over numbers altogether.

I had no idea so many people resented this thread. Maybe the best thing is to have it locked and permanently discontinued. I thought by the number of views and comments that it was enjoyed. I never considered data to be un-Panhellenic. Maybe because I'm a numbers person.

Keep it up! This is a much loved thread!

I enjoy this thread. It's got a lot of great information. In fact, I looked something up last night. I like numbers, and don't feel it's un-Panhellenic to talk about numbers. It's not like we're discussing tiers.

Why do you think it's un-Panhellenic? Serious question. I'm always curious to see numbers at other schools/in other parts of the country. It always amazes me that some chapters of my organization have 100+ in a pledge class somewhere, then 10 somewhere else--but they're all my new sisters, so that's really cool. I've never thought of this as anything more than informative.

AZTheta 09-10-2015 12:03 PM

I don't think that reporting recruitment results from bid matching is "unpanhellenic" (if that's even a word). It's DATA. Pure and simple. Until very recently this thread has been a non-drama source of reliable information. IP, please consider that as an endorsement of the work you've done.

What's unpanhellenic IN MY OPINION is the bickering and sniping and tweaking of numbers to make a chapter's results appear as other than they were at bid matching. AND what's also unpanhellenic is the conversation I heard last night full of misinformation about recruitment results and how well some chapters performed vs. other chapters. You know I opened my mouth right up and shut THAT down. When one woman said "well, cross-cutting" I didn't even let her finish her sentence. Then she tried the "guaranteed a bid" and at that point I just wanted to drink hemlock.

For the love of Mike, read the damned Green Book. Read the RFM manual. Drag yourself out of 1965 and into 2015. Or else shut the hell up.

And don't read this thread if it doesn't match your values - you're not being held hostage, you know?

This thread has helped me a lot over last few years as I have had my 3 youngest sisters go off to college and recruitment in completely different parts of the country than I did.

I find it fascinating to see trends at different colleges and how many PNM's are going through recruitment. I really appreciate the work that people have put into this thread and hope it continues. Even if the numbers are not exactly accurate- 100% of the time, it is still helpful information.

Wow! I must have missed something. Irish Pipes, I love this thread. I see it as a show of strength for the whole Panhellenic system and how much we are growing. This thread and Colonies and Expansions are really the only threads I read on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.

flirt5721 09-10-2015 12:35 PM

I'm not sure where the issue came up, but I love this thread. I enjoy seeing the different numbers from all over the country.

3DGator 09-10-2015 12:37 PM

Ditto x three. Please continue this thread. Even though I am active in our local alum group and I have been a chapter adviser for many years, I really feel a bit out of touch with what is going on nationally with Greek life. This thread keeps me in touch with what is happening in the country.

DubaiSis 09-10-2015 12:39 PM

This is the primary thread that brings me back to GC so please don't take it away! Yes, there are some cringe-worthy numbers for my sorority, as there are for every other NPC. But data doesn't have feelings. And you can track success through data just as easily as you can track a mis-fire.

One problem with the numbers and RFM is that they have gotten it so tight that a top performing chapter can miss by a handful, and {clutches pearls} miss quota. That can very easily be resolved, and is probably what is behind the "corrections." If, on the other hand, the correction is because people are counting heads on photos and publishing them, then that just needs to stop. It is in no way accurate. I counted heads on our recent colony at TTU and it had something like 70 girls in the picture. There were obvious bodies cut off at the sides so I didn't post. Our number was in fact over 100.

One thing you can do if you're not sure, dear readers, is send irishpipes a private message. It might minimize the thread drama. And if it's additional members, not an actual mistake, it's ok to admit you added more after the fact. Seriously. No need to make it seem like somebody (especially IP) made a mistake.

Benzgirl 09-10-2015 12:47 PM

I would say that 99% of us love it. Sometimes mistakes are made as they are in real life. It is a crime? NO! I think some posters who are quick to jump in with nasty remarks would berate a spouse or family member for burning dinner.

Just saying!

ZTAngel 09-10-2015 01:03 PM

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with this thread.
