Oh, AnotherKD - praying for good news for you.

lovespink88 03-03-2012 11:43 AM

When I was in high school and played on the softball team, there was a girl a year older than me in school who volunteered to help with the team when she could. Very sweet girl, but I remember that she wasn't around a lot. I later found out that it was because she had cystic fibrosis and was in and out of the hospital a lot.

She found me on Facebook a few years later after I went away to college. One day I saw her status update thanking friends and family for their support and that she was recovering well, etc. She had a double lung transplant! From what I read, it seemed to have gone well. Over the next few years, I occasionally saw statuses about being back in the hospital...it always made me sad because the girl was obviously such a fighter!

On Thursday, she lost her battle with the disease.

I cannot imagine the grief her family is going through...According to her obituary, her parents have now lost all 3 of their children (I'm assuming they were sick also). My heart just breaks for them. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers today.

Any thought/prayers/good vibes would be appreciated as a recent MRI (which freaked me out enough) for something on my ovaries so I'm off to have tests to rule out ovarian cancer.

Keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Update on G: She had a super bad kidney infection and was in the hospital for several days last week while they worked on getting rid of it. During the tests though, they found that the tumor is small enough now that they believe they can do surgery to remove it :) Possibly within two weeks!

Thanks everyone.

Two things:

Firstly, my bf's best friend's mother just died. Positive wishes her way would be wonderful.

Secondly, another Greek at my school is going through some trouble at home. His dad just had a really serious injury:
Quote:

My mom found my dad on on the living room floor this morning. He was getting up for work and had an aneurysm. A blood vessel ruptured, which released blood into his skull. At the same instance, it caused a stroke and he immediately collapsed. He hit his head so hard that it caused severe damage to the other side of his brain. Ambulance transferred him to henry ford wyandotte hospital. He was put on life support right away, and the staff felt henry ford detroit was better equipped, and had a higher level of expertise for the situation. Doctors told me my dad had a 30% chance of living, and I was put in charge of decision making for my father. The neurology unit quickly drilled a hole in his skull to release a large volume of blood that had built up causing a high pressure level. They then sent him to radiology and we determined they would instal a coil to close off the open vessel. (Basically this is capping the vessel to stop bleeding.) The brain surgeons successfully completed this tasks after a few hours. There are still a few more surgeries on my dad's brain, and an additional aneurysm in another location . there is some level of brain damage, but how bad it will be is not certain at this time. He's currently sedated.

Sending prayers of comfort to BF's best friend (and family) and prayers of healing to your fellow greek.

Well I've given the blood now I wait to hear back. This will be a LONG week.

Storming the heavens for Honeykiss! And, of course, everyone else needing prayer.

Starting my first round of Chlomid on Wednesday. If hubby and I are lucky this month, we may be parents by December! *fingers crossed*

Praying for your success, amanda!

You're in my thoughts.

One of the girls I work out with just found out her little sister (12 years old) has breastcancer. They don't know how far it has spread yet.
12 is just so young!
