Big sigh... I wanted Carrie Underwood to do well. I really, really did. This was a big undertaking - for anyone - and hat's off to her for giving it a shot. She sang beautifully, in my opinion. It's interesting that she can convey such feeling while singing, yet can't do the same while speaking.

I agree about Audra McDonald. She's incredible. Her performance was so perfect that she managed to elicit believable emotion from Carrie. Impressive!

And Laura Benanti... what a pleasant surprise!

Oh, I wasn't surprised—except that she looked as old as she did. She has a Tony (and a Drama Desk Award) for her performance as Louise in the revival of Gypsy, another Drama Desk Award (and Tony nomination) for her Candela in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and two other Tony nominations (Into the Woods revivial and Swing!).

If you've never heard her sing "Model Behavior" from Women on the Verge, you need to give it a listen.

Audra McDonald was just incredible. I'm envious that Hypo got to see her in Porgy & Bess on Broadway and met her afterward too. Her talent was so totally wasted on Private Practice and I had no idea.

Show #2 for my subscription series is tomorrow- Elf the Musical! I'm only expecting it to be fun, not a musical phenomena.

I saw War Horse today as part of my subscription season. Wow! The puppetry with the horses is amazing. At first, I thought "I can't stop seeing the people controlling the horses", but they quickly completely disappeared and the horses looked so much like horses. Great story too. Definitely on my favorites list.

I saw the National Tour of War Horse last year - it was incredible! After seeing commercials for the movie a few years ago I wasn't sure if I would get into the story (I don't really like animals, or movies about animals). I was pleasantly surprised at how invested I became in the story and the puppetry was outstanding!
