You're kind of trying to un-ring the bell there.

At the point something gets sent out to all the chapters for discussion at chapter, it's not going to be confidential much longer. We can all imagine and hope this isn't the case, but come on now. . .

I'm not saying it was correct for whoever to post here to post it, but deleting it isn't likely to do much good.

We all know that it's likely that it won't remain confidential, but posting it publicly on GreekChat is a whole 'nother story.

When we hear of campuses being open for expansion, how often do we get to read about confidential info? Emails meant for campus Panhellenic officials? Not often? Never?

While deleting it probably won't do much good for 'Bama, it may just send a message, saying: "keep your mouths shut about colonization until after the official announcement's been made."

I get your point, but . . .

Is "professional" the right word to use if we don't really know it was an employee who posted it? Maybe we should go with immature, un-panhellenic, or in the cases of people revealing what was discussed in confidence at chapter, a violation of ritual.

We can be ridiculous is so many ways on GC that have nothing to do with what we do professionally.

Let's leave the unprofessional behavior to the professionals, like the folks at DePauw last year.

well considering that Bama Alumna mentioned she worked for the university, yea, I think I'd use the word 'unprofessional'. in addition to the other lovely words you pointed out.

As t*p mentioned, she said she was employed by UA in the link I posted. Granted, that post was from some time go, but still..

And I think you meant DePauw. ;)

I did, and I even thought I typed it. I'm sorry for sullying the reputation of the fine institution of DePaul.

As a side note beyond all this I thought I'd throw in the pile the fact that Alpha Phi has also been selected to present at Georgia Tech along with Pi Phi and KD. The colonizing sorority will be announced in April. So if A Phi is chosen at Bama and Tech that will be a lot of strain on those local alums but also a much needed push into the south for them!

But on a different level, kind of a cool bond for those chapter to maybe share. Ga Tech is probably the easier campus to crack, IMO.

When deciding to apply at these schools Alpha Phi did so knowing we wanted to add chapters at these campuses in 2008 (or whatever the timeline is for the campus) We have the human resources in the form of volunteers and an outstanding paid professional staff to support these colonizations. We have developed proformas and financial outlooks to support these colonizations efforts running concurrently. It would be foolish of any NPC group to submit written presentations and not be well prepared to colonize! BRING IT ON!! :D

I say congratulations to Alpha Phi for being asked to present at these two outstanding schools, as well as W&L, I believe. Obviously they are doing something right at a National level to have been asked to present in the first place. It sounds to me like they have all their ducks in a row.

AGDLynn 02-14-2008 11:15 PM

Boy I'm going to try to not be around GC if WGa opens for expansion in 2009, lol.

The nationals presenting who put time and effort into this should be informed of any outcome before some loose cannon shoots off her mouth on a chat board. Frankly, I am very disappointed in the process.

Do you understand how the extension process works? From your posts, I gather that you do not. I will edit my above post & remove the memo, but I don't understand your assertion that things were handled unfairly or unprofessionally. In what way did the University of Alabama or their NPC not follow the NPC guidelines for extension?

By the way, I no longer work for the University. I quit working there last year & have moved on to better things. Thanks.

(my bold)
And from where is this information?

Just interested 02-15-2008 12:24 AM

W&L Greek Newsletter, I think that is where I read it. Presentations are over. Decision has not been made. I may be wrong, though. I thought they said Tri Delta, Alpha Phi and Phi Mu. Maybe I goofed.

honeychile 02-15-2008 12:34 AM

Read the whole thread. One of the sororities you mentioned didn't present, and the decision isn't to be made public until tomorrow, at the earliest.

I was wondering if you had insider information, and I apologize for my rude tone.

Just interested 02-15-2008 12:46 AM

I didn't take it as rude. I thought maybe dreamed it. I do know another group is going to be added to that wonderful campus and whoever is selected will be very lucky. It is a great greek community for all the NPCs there. They are so inclusive and have awesome young ladies that go there to school. It is a win, win for everyone.
