Currently, the Chi Omega Supreme Governing Council is comprised of five members: S.H., S.T.B., S.N.V., S.K.A. and S.M. Has it always been made up of five individuals?
a.) Yes, since the beginning it's always been 5 b.) It grew to 6 when Mary Love Collins stepped down as S.H. and became Administrative Councilor c.) It grew to 7, counting MLC as A.C. and the editor of The Eleusis d.) It was once 8, with the A.C., E.E. and the NPC delegate I'm going to take a guess at it with B.... |

Wow... the editor of the Eleusis as a governing council member...interesting!

I'm from the Epsilon Gamma chapter at the University of Tulsa, and I just shared much of this trivia via text yesterday with my pledge class.. We will have a lot of interesting facts to tell to our new littles we take in the fall! Thanks for sharing, everyone!

Fun Facts to Know and Tell!

Epsilon Gamma, huh? I think I know a certain S.H. from that chapter! |
haha, yes, SH Mrasek was just at our house visiting last month. The Theta national president is also from TU, so they usually will travel together. It's pretty exciting business, especially since I was a freshman. When she was living in our house as a young Chi O, she lived in what is now my suite. I feel special. :)

Convention Trivia
Currently, Chi Omega National Conventions are held biennially on even-numbered years (e.g., 2004, 2006, 2008). How many times was Convention held during an odd-numbered year?
a.) Never. Always even-numbered years since the first one in 1900. b.) Once, in 1901, and they would have continued to be odd-numbered years except that the 1903 Convention, scheduled for St. Louis, was postponed a year to coincide with the World's Fair c.) Once, in 1919, because of World War I d.) It's only been since the 21st century began that even-numbered years were chosen. |
I would guess D. No idea though.

At the 2008 Convention in St. Louis, we will celebrate 100 years of...
a.) having conventions b.) the publication of The Eleusis c.) Revelry d.) the presentation of The Earth Mother at Convention |
Well, it can't be a.) since we were having conventions in 1901, and it can't be b.) because the Eleusis has been in publication since 1899. And in a previous question (does it make me a huge dork that I found this?!) you stated that The Earth Mother was "presented at each Convention from 1912 through 1956". So by my amazing deductive reasoning skills, that leaves c.) Revelry!

You're good, Sister AZXO!
Wanna ask the next one? |
Sure! This is completely useless information, but I thought it was sort of interesting.
How much water does the Chi Omega Fountain on the University of Kansas campus hold? a.) 2,700 gallons b.) 8,500 gallons c.) 1,250 gallons d.) No more than 6,724 gallons |
Great question!
I'm going to guess A. |
Good guess, but it's a little more than 2,700 gallons. :) I found a pretty picture of it here...http://pics4.city-data.com/cpicc/cfiles21882.jpg.

I found this after I guessed.... "A campus landmark since 1955, the Chi Omega fountain holds 8,500 gallons of water." LJWorld.com |
Nice job!

That is a beautiful fountain...
About how much has Chi Omega raised for Make-A-Wish since adopting it as the national phiilanthropy? A) $1,000,000 B) $5,000,000 C) $1,500,000 D) $2,000,000 For bonus points (I'm assuming this is like Who's Line, where the points don't matter), what year did Chi Omega adopt MAW, and how much does it cost to grant a wish on average? |
Ooh, I know this one! Ha ha, we did a fun facts about MAW during recruitment last year and learned all this stuff. I know that in 2006 we'd raised over $2,000,000, but it's been a couple years since then so I'm going to be optimistic and say B. It's been the official philanthropy of Chi Omega since 2002, and I think the average is about $6,500.
Our chapter granted a wish for a little girl named McKenzie a couple years ago who had a seizure disorder, she was the most prescious thing ever! And we raised enough last spring with Songfest to grant another one this year! I'm going to try to find another question to ask, I feel like I'm taking over this thread :) |
Here's a good one...
How many Chi Omega collegiate chapters have initiated over 3,000 members?
a.) none (no way...that's crazy high) b.) only one (Psi, University of Arkansas) c.) seven (and many more are close to 3,000) d.) sixty-two (face it, we're big) |
c?
|
Yes!
Correct, AZXO...it's 7 (as of Summer 2008)
Not in any particular order: Psi (UArkansas) Tau (Ole Miss) Iota (UTexas) Zeta (UColorado) Epsilon Alpha (UOklahoma) Mu Beta (UGeorgia) Phi Gamma (LSU) |
Jennifer Roberts, who at age 20 was the youngest person to earn a masters degree from this school, belonged to what chapter?
a.) Beta Lambda - Carthage College b.) Zeta Alpha - Ohio State University c.) Epsilon Zeta - Stephen F. Austin d.) Psi Lambda - Valdosta State University |
C!
NutBrn, I'm back. :) |

Dusting off this thread...

Hurry and answer before football season is over!

Since no one else has taken the plunge, I will and answer D--All of the Above. If that isn't correct, I know A--Brett Favre is correct. :) |

Ok, let's keep it going...
Not sure if this has been asked, because I didn't read this whole thread, and I'm not sure how accurate this is, but let's go for it ;) One out of how many sorority women is a Chi Omega? A) 2 B) 10 C) 4 D) 8 |
Quote:

Yeah! I'm not sure if it's accurate, but what i found was 1 in 4! It would be very interesting if it was though!

Terrific picture, Berlee! Col. Dengler was upset that Arlington Cemetery would not allow a marker stating that Jean was a Founder of Chi Omega. Strict regulations did not permit it. Follow-up question... Which other founder is also buried in the Washington, D.C. area? a.) Dr. Richardson b.) Allie Simmonds c.) Jobelle Hocombe d.) Ina Mae Boles Morton |
Any interest in reviving this old thread?
What is the significance of the number of the street address of the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters, 3395 Players Club Parkway?
a.) The "33" is from at old address of the Executive Office in Cincinnati, 3300 Carew Tower and the "95" is from the founding of Chi Omega in 1895. b.) There were 339,500 initiates of Chi Omega when ground was broken for the new HQ in 1992. c.) There were 33 staff members employed when the building was dedicated in 1995. d.) That's stupid -- there is no significance. |
Interest yes!
no idea though :) |
I believe it is Allie Simonds. I went through the New Member website recently (brushing up on Chi O history during winter break), and I think it said she was buried in the Congressional Cemetery.
Love from your sisters at Nu Alpha! |
