Soror, I meant now is not the time for his grandstanding (not for his book).

I don't have a problem with the grandstanding. It's just that the media and some folks can't separate Wright from Obama or vice versa.
Rev Wright is SO on point with what he says, IMO. If Obama does not win the nomination, this will be used as the EXCUSE. I told ya'll don't forget whose world it is. Regardless of Wright, if THEY want Obama IN, he will get IN...with or without the so called grandstanding! |
There may be a compromise forthcoming on Michigan http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/0...t_n_99273.html but no word on Florida yet.
Despite the 'controversy', Obama is closing the gap on Superdelegates http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/ |
Every Democrat or Democrat-leaning voter (especially Independents like myself) MUST read this!

Totally agree

Even though I agree with some (definitely not all) of what Wright says, he has to realize that its best to say these things AFTER Obama wins. A lot of Americans are lazy in their thinking. They're not going to separate Obama from his former pastor's comments because its just too easy. "Obama says what he has to say as a politician" ~ Rev. Wright What was the point of that?:mad: |
Rev. Wright is not trying to cash in. He already had multiple books and an active career as a speaker before these links to Obama thrust him into the national political spotlight. He was and continues to be a well-respected theologian and because of that was and continues to be a sought after speaker. He was and is doing alright without this crap, believe me.
If anything, this publicity is hurting him because right after it happened he had to cancel speaking engagements because of the death threats that he received; also some of those engagements were canceled as a reaction to this negative press (I think). |
Alright, if that is the case and the impression I have from seeing his appearances on tv is wrong then I'll concede the point. I shouldn't have implied he's trying to cash in, though it really makes no difference to me. I was moreso talking about about how likely he'd be able to sell a book detailing his current experiences because of the 'controversy' as opposed to sermons he's published in the past. If his message is worthwhile then why not?
I know he has dozens of theological books & that he was sought after before (I remember hearing that Bill & Hillary invited him to the White House and so he had to have already been nationally recognized) but because of the recent drama he's more famous, infamous, well known, or what have you. IMO what continues to be bothersome is that he continues to make 'controversial' statements before the election. Anyone can see that anything he says now can and will be used against Obama. That's really all I care about... |
^^OK, but I am pretty sure that the book is not about this experience. When he mentioned his book the other day, it was in the context of the talk that he was giving about race and racism, so I imagine the book takes a look at those issues.
