Well I honestly have no clue, but I'm going with my GUT instict this time and choosing B.

NutBrnHair 03-01-2004 06:05 PM

No, not B, although we did have Convention at the Camelback 1982, 1984 and 1986. *Hint* The winning answer is the location which hosted the Chi Omega Convention a record 21 times!

OtterXO 03-01-2004 06:28 PM

I'm guessing D, no reason-just a guess!

NutBrnHair 03-01-2004 07:36 PM

Last hint...

No, not D either, although the first Convention was held at the Memphis Peabody in 1900. Hmmm...okay...another hint? Let's see if I can post a picture of the place.

You are right, CardinalSM -- Actually, I know the Greenbrier hosted even more than 21 Conventions -- the last being 1978.

ETA: Check out the red & yellow tulips in the picture...coincidence? ;)

A chapter visit from on high?

Mary Love Collins (S.H. from 1910-52) used to communicate often with active chapters via telegram. Once, she sent a telegram to a chapter announcing that Christelle "Chris" Ferguson was to arrive for a chapter visit. Western Union made a typo and instead of reading, "Chris will arrive to inspect the chapter..." the telegram stated, "Christ will arrive to inspect the chapter."

Which chapter received this telegram?

a.) Psi, University of Arkansas
b.) Epsilon Gamma, University of Tulsa
c.) Psi Kappa, Clemson University
d.) Kappa Lambda, UCSD

xo_kathy 03-02-2004 03:16 PM

I'll go with B!

Psi seems "too right" (of course Christ would want to visit the chapter where it all started! ;) ) and is an older chapter so Western Union telegrams seems to fit... I don't know!!!!!!!!! (plus I just did a little research and 2 of those chapters were founded after MLC's run as SH)

Way to make us work, NutBrn!!!

Good editing, Kathy! Yes, it's B!

A follow-up to the story. Longtime Epsilon Gamma Personnel Advisor, Mary Clay Williams, said the telegram arrived during chapter -- the G.H. read it & they went right on along, thinking of course that Mary Love was quite capable of just about anything!

Otter wins! Otter wins!
I know that Mary Love's Phi Beta Kappa key is on display in the museum at HQ, but I've never seen the others -- I do know Jobelle & Ida Pace joined Phi Beta Kappa when it was installed on the campus of the University of Arkansas in 1932.

Cardinal026 03-30-2004 02:02 PM

I'm going with A...just cuz it's the only one that mentions marriage. :p
