Yup! They do. I think all of them do though. They do it because they had issues with some sistah they dated in the past, so then they think the grass in greener on the other side which is why they go white. To me white women are nuts. They kill their kids and chit, and then blame it on a brotha. That's why I just hit it and quit it. A black dude who dates a white girl might as well slap his mamma in the face. For real. He was made by a black woman, so he should be a with a black woman. Period.

She was saying you can't specifically ask her the reason WHY because she's not a BLACK MALE that THINKS like that. (DISCLAIMER: of course we know that ALL women are created equal). However, we as black intellectualls can possibly give reasons to WHY black men think this way.

(and this is why they may have said you need a history lesson) in the past white women were seen as a "prize" by their fathers, their communties and their culture. Black men could have been lynched for just looking at a white woman the wrong way. That being said, some black men see this "prize" as something that was once unattainable that can be obtained now.

and yet others think their babies will look better because they will be lighter with "better quality hair"

Do Black women get upset when a Black man dates a Latina (or non-White or non-Black) woman? If a White man is dating a White woman (or a woman of any other race but Black), why does no one question why he does not date Black women and take offense to it?

@Cheerful--sweetheart, you need to read some more books on why it hurts Black women so painfully when we see Black men dating women of different ethnic groups. One book I suggest is "When and Where I Enter" by Paula Giddings.

@lovehaiku84--the actual pangs I have seen is through my brother and his dating, baby's choices... Aside from the fact that I think NO woman should date my brother until he gets himself mentally healthy, what he says and does to the women in his life is death defying. Both of "his women" are caucasian. I don't know many white women who would tolerate what my brother is doing without putting his ass in jail, but nonetheless, he must be enamoring these women with his magic stick because I really don't see what woman would find him that enthralling.

What he does to the woman though is put her in hostile situations in front of other powerhouse Black women who are already distrustful. The girl invariably does a faux pas, and the sistahs are ready to attack... But because we like to think we are "open minded", we let stupidity slide--pretty much like "Roscoe Jenkins". Eventually we try to accept the situation--of course we cannot change it. But it still leaves Black women wondering, "what does she got, that I ain't got?" What we get to is "maybe she licked his azz right..." :confused: even though that probably is not it.

In my situation, my brother's latest Jerry Springer story, the baby's mama is not eating properly--not enough water, healthy food, etc. As such, she cannot express enough breast milk and therefore my 4 month old suffers and it is reflected by her heavy outbursts of crying--an American Idol in the making, I guess? But, I mean, I am sorry, no one can be that dumb about food intake and breast milk production... Would a sistah do that? Probably, but if MIL says eat XYZ or else... Most women would do it... Not be resistant like my brother's baby's mama...

There are other issues that I have noticed which are just cultural differences. And it can be picked up over time--which is what it takes...

@bolded: They do and do take offense to it. However, nowadays, I don't see the dividing line being polar opposites than black or white. There are just gradations. However I do see an all out attack on the image and persona of Black women by the media, but that has been going on for many years.

For example: Michelle Obama... What kinds of images does it evoke or conjure up in regards to her, without references to her comments?

As far as upset with Brothers dating other races. I don't think the ACT of doing it is what pisses Sistahs off. It is the brazenness of the attitude towards dating that pisses us off. Many bruhs have all kind of creative lines they run past women, generally. SOME bruhs use ethnic group specific attributes as standards of beauty blatantly in front of several sistahs or put down sistahs ethnic group specific attributes to state why they are ugly...

I got told by one bruh that my hair was too long and nappy and that I needed to get a relaxer for him to speak to me... He stated it publicly to belittle me. And I was not even thinking about him or attracted to him!!! So, why did he go there? That was close to 20 years ago and it still hurts. Because, I am no where near the kind of description he described.

Thanks everyone. I learned things I didn't know before. I understand racism exist and will always exist, but it's not right. I really don't want to read any books on the issue of why black women don't like women of other skin colors dating black men, because it doesn't matter who wrote the book, or the fact that it's in a book. It's still wrong on every level. We're all human beings. We're all genetically made up the same. I guess I'll have to go on clueless of why this is. I think it's very sad that some men would date a woman because he thinks her race is better than another one. How can someone look at another person and say I don't like him/her because his/her skin color is not like mine? When I watch the presidential debates, I often wonder what it would be like if we couldn't see who was running for office, but could only hear their voices. I wonder who would win? That's another topic though.

I'll continue having my own opinion on this issue, because to me a good man is a good man. I don't care what color he is. Personal preference is one thing, but just to say I can't date him or her because he/she is not of the same color is wrong. I won't use race, because there's only one race, the human race. I'll just use skin or color, because that's all it is to me.

This is what I mean by personal preference, and this is o.k. But for someone to say "Why is he with her? She's white. What's wrong with me?" That's the dumbest most insecure thing I've ever heard of in my entire life!
