Kappa Alpha Theta and Phi Mu both currently have AA members at Ole Miss. Possibly other chapters, too. In the 70's, I clearly remember NPC chapters at Ole Miss that had members of Chinese, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern parentage.

True! There were several Chinese girls who were Greek at Mississippi State in the seventies--I particularly remember 2 sweet Zeta sisters, one of whom also cheered.

Congrats to ADPi's.
Question to those who have hands-on experience with colonizing chapters at Ole Miss. Always seemed very difficult for new sororities to become established at OM. The ones that succeeded seemed to be groups which had strong chapters in places which attracted increasing numbers of OOS students. For example, as more kids came to Ole Miss from Texas, sororities which had strong local roots (like Theta) had a natural draw. As many others have commented in other threads, Ole Miss is a difficult colonization challenge. Not just the "top tiering" status stuff. What is different this time around for ADPi -- or any other chapter for that matter. Is there sufficient "sustainibility" built into the colonization model? Thanks. |
How exciting for Alpha Phi and ADPi!

Firm plans for a fabulous house, the physical house itself, are critical -- and not located off away from the other two house clusters. Any word on where the houses will be located?

Ole Miss NPC groups have been "diverse" since I was in school (96-00)...and that's diverse with African American women and even Int'l Students. The Ole Miss of today is not the one we all seem remember from decades ago. Our Student Body is very diverse which I think makes all women interested in our NPC groups on campus. |

Congrats to both ADPi and Alpha Phi. It will be very interesting for ADPi. They are colonizing at Mississippi State this spring (2013) and then Ole Miss in the fall 2013? I believe both universities have a house requirement. Should be an exciting time for them.
