Well, Teresa did say she decorated everything herself, ... and, boy, does it show. I gotta give it to her, though, ... the whole place is SPOTLESS. And I wouldn't mind bidding on that baby grand piano me-self. :D

I think it's more bad taste than spending money just to spend it.

Though I remember when she was shelling out, what, $120,000 for furniture in cash? Just counting out hundreds? Who DOES that??

ITA. Like so many other things, how much of it is "for show"? Does anyone play that piano or the "faux" marble chess set? Why is everything so ornate? What's with the gilded everything? Shiny, shiny, shiny.

Sorry the pics are so big, I just wanted to give a few examples of how everything is shiny and "gold".

The picture below makes me laugh for two reasons.

A. A suit of armor, usually found in very old homes (castles) where it's a piece of history/antigue or a piece of one's ancestry (or someone that was really into Ren Fairs lol). Why in New Jersey? It's likely a replica, and like many other things in houses like this, serves no other purpose than to try to "look rich".

B. Who is going to use a dart board when there are two fragile-looking candle holders right below it? Darts next to a light switch? Where's the chalk line you are supposed to stand behind. If it's "for show", why a dart board?

(Let me just add that I do have a friend who has a grand piano in her foyer, and when she bought it, her babies were under a year old, and no one in the house played piano. She told me that they had bought it because they needed something to "fill" the foyer.)

These fools wanted to act like out of control ballers (paying cash didn't impress me and it smelled like "new money") and it finally caught up with them. It isn't funny but I don't feel any compassion for the idiots who did this for a show, just as I don't for other idiots who do this everyday. Many of life's lessons are learned harshly when you aren't smart.

T(h?)eresa is on The View right now. :D

She says they filed foreclosure (and later claimed her house is NOT in foreclosure, "it is regarding the buildings") because they own 4 huge apartment buildings in East Orange and her tenants lost their jobs and couldn't pay rent. In turn, they couldn't pay their mortgage. Joy Behar asked if they were slumlords. :)

They showed a clip of the episode where Teresa boasted about owning (if you pay mortgage, you don't really "own" or "have") a 5 million $ home that is 10,000 sq ft.

Joy Behar asked why don't you live in your means if you're going through all of this debt. Teresa said she doesn't use her credit cards. They are asking her questions and sometimes talking over her. This is HAZING on television. LOL.

A technicality. I pay my mortgage and I say that I own my house. I don't rent. Those are the two choices. Owning or renting. So I may be just over 2 years into my mortgage, but I sure as hell tell people that I own it.

Banks and people who have been removed from the homes that they "owned" may see it as more than a technicality. ;)

You are paying mortgage so that you can own it one day (some jokingly call this "rent to own" because they see the bank as the leasing office). It is yours barring certain circumstances. My parents own their home (the actual house and not the property) because they have lived in it for over 40 years and finished paying the mortgage many moons ago.

I'm getting sick of people saying her house is in foreclosure. Someone's businesses can be in foreclosure, and their house not. Anyone who has owned a business in this economy knows that and others need to understand that.

People can own multiple businesses and have one be doing well and the other not so well. You can't just move money from one business to the other.

People are going based on the info that is distributed. Teresa wasn't clear when she was on The View so I still say her house is in foreclosure, as did the hosts.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Kim "G" is absolutely hilarious!! She's finally had enough of Danielle, ... but to be honest, something about her behavior seemed a bit, ... I don't know ... "staged" to say the least. I think she wanted to cause some drama to help sustain her presence on the show, but I could be wrong.

I was particularly intrigued that Danielle admitted that she had no one to talk to her about sex, so she had her daughter be counseled about sex (or safe sex) by a gynecologist. I'd love to see Jacqueline do that with Ashley, who is 18 and needs to get a clue.

MUSK81 08-03-2010 10:44 AM

Wow ... just wow. I agree about Danielle and the OB-GYN, although I felt sorry for Christine, having to have it all on TV. In fact, AFAIC, this whole round goes to Danielle. I'm an adoptee and anything having to do with our biological parents is frought with emotion. For her to confide in Kim G. and for Kim G. to spread stuff like that around is just beyond the pale. Kim G. got what she deserved and I think Danielle acted with a fair amount of class for once in her life. In fact, I think Kim G's even crazier, in her way, than Danielle - at least Danielle knows where she stands and doesn't try to play both sides against the middle. In fact, I was in a similar situation to Kim G. in junior high. I had two good friends in the neighborhood who couldn't stand each other - we basically had a "ladies' agreement" that I would see each of them separately and would not carry tales to one about the other. So it can be done, but it amuses me that junior high kids can make it work but grown-ups can't.
As for Teresa - where does she get off, throwing that blow-out party when she's supposed to be broke as the Ten Commandments? Seriously, as a Catholic, I was quasi-offended that she put so much emphasis over style over substance. Kudos to Dina, though, for taking her role seriously and being what a godmother is supposed to be.

DrPhil 08-03-2010 10:53 AM

I think Kim G. is being a drama queen and I'm convinced that most of it is for the show.

Danielle was wise in taking her daughter to the OBGYN because the sex talk that parents used to give kids doesn't work as well for every kid, especially in today's society. I laughed when she asked her daughter if she has decided to abstain because of what the OBGYN said. If that was her goal, she should've shown her documentaries with photos of penises and vaginas with STD outbreaks--that's what the schools showed us in middle school and high school. But, we also had a pregnancy outbreak, so...I guess nothing is fool proof. :)

I really dislike Ashley. Really.

I agree. I pay for all the repairs and upgrades (I have an older brick and stone house). When the mortgage company starts doing this, I'll gladly say that I'm "renting to own."

rhoyaltempest 08-03-2010 12:14 PM

I never thought I'd say this but...wait for it....I'm on Danielle's side (that took a lot out of me...you really don't know). Kim G was wrong for being two-faced and telling the Manzos all her business especially regarding her wanting to find her birth mom. That was low. Then she went off on Danielle in the restaurant (for once Danielle wasn't the crazy one) because she knew she was wrong, just wanted to ACT like she wasn't and put on a SHOW for everyone. When you have friends like Kim G., who needs enemies? Also, kudos to Danielle for taking her daughter to the GYN for a sex lesson. It seems Danielle does have some sense sometimes.

And I can't stand Ashley as well (although her disrespectful behavior is Jacquelyn's fault). She needs a good ole ass whoopin'.

1. If it was that private of a matter to her, she shouldn't have discussed it on camera for the world to see.

2. Teresa, at this point, didn't know anything about the finances. She has said in interviews that Joe kept her in the dark about how deep in debt they were. It's kind of like Lynn on Housewives of Orange County, except Joe didn't let it get as far as an eviction from their house before Teresa found out, like with Lynn's husband. The difference is that once they started taking care of their situation, Teresa started doing something about it, ie: selling their stuff. Lynn kept shopping.
