I can verify that Theta has 142 new members!

Per a post on DG's FB page, they have 121 in their pledge class.

Holy crap. I just can't imagine. I mean, all the fraternities and sororities over the 4 years I was in school probably totalled that amount (if even).

That's AWESOME! Welcome to the sisterhood! Welcome Home! Please come introduce yourself in the Phi Mu forum!

ladybug12 10-07-2013 09:45 PM

Stats sent to me early yesterday morning:
1112 PNMs matched
170 withdrew
80 released
About 78% placed
Numbers may have changed yesterday after this information was released. All groups made quota and most had additions. Such good news!

140-180ish = one chapter at KSU.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think everyone at Ole Miss either is remodeling or has remodeled recently because they are outgrowing their houses.

Like, their (already large) chapter rooms are running low on seating!

I think I read here once that the chapters are good about doing a LOT of mini sisterhoods (e.g senior/freshman night, xyz major night, etc.) to try to get people to meet and get to know each other better.

ladybug12 10-07-2013 10:12 PM

Yes, I think that these chapters with huge pledge classes are being creative with events that match women with similar interests. Cudos to them for thinking outside of the box.

thetalady 10-07-2013 10:54 PM

some of the initial numbers

There were 1394 PNMs registered for rush.

These numbers mean that 32 PNMs are unaccounted for, probably signed up & then did not to go through recruitment.

That means that only about 6% were released.... an amazingly low number. About 12% withdrew. This number might be a little higher than usual because of ADPi's recruitment.

IndianaSigKap 10-07-2013 10:59 PM

How large are the chapters there now with the new member classes? Do you think ADPi will colonize to total or deliberately stay a little under to pick up some friends of friends in the spring?

According to last Spring's grade report, Theta was the smallest at 184 and Chi O was the largest at 368 (with DG at 366) so depending on how many girls graduated, it kinda sounds like more than a couple of the houses are approaching the 350-400 range numbers-wise. ADPi could probably take 250-300 girls and still have room for more in the spring if they so choose.

I'm still waiting to hear from my rec girl, and I checked the student paper for a bid list. No bid list, but they did link to a huge set of Bid Day 2013 photos on Flickr.

That is SUCH a great idea. I am passing it on to a couple of chapters.

You will start to see Bid Lists published by individual sororities in the Daily Mississippian.

I don't know why I don't see an edition since Oct 7. Keep checking, the lists will come later in the week.

Per the discussion that went on earlier about rush week gifts, here is a DM article:

Is that the average right now or are there chapters at/above 400?

newbierebmom 10-10-2013 08:33 AM

KD announced its pledge class on its Facebook page yesterday:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kappa...521801?fref=ts

Congrats to all and especially my OOS DD! Thanks again to everyone here on GC for helping this mom!

The Panhellenic Council will work on readjusting chapter total over the next few weeks. I know most chapters are in the 360-390 range...a couple might be right at 400 members.

olemissmom2017 10-10-2013 09:28 AM

How do they readjust?

KSUViolet06 10-10-2013 09:35 AM

^^^^My assumption is that Ole Miss uses tiered total, where it is immediately readjusted after FR to about average chapter size-ish. Some adjust at the semester mark. It depends. So if it was like, 300 before FR, it will readjust to 400 (if that's what chapters are averaging.)

I could be way off here though.

Titchou 10-10-2013 09:55 AM

NPC recommends either average chapter size or median chapter size. It's up to the college PH in concert with their Area Adviser to determine which it should be...or some other variation.

Can someone provide me with more information for the Oxford Alumnae Panhellenic Association? They are not chartered through NPC and neither NPC or myself have received any response from e-mailing oxfordareanpc at gmail. From the information I've gathered they never became a fully functional group but I have seen information on this board about them meeting a few months ago.

Thank you.

I haven't been to a meeting in a while since I had my daughter life just go too busy. I think the President graduated from law school so they might be without some leadership. I went to two meetings when they first started up in 2011 and early 2012. They were trying to get something started but it's hard to support groups like this since Oxford is actually a really busy town with so much else going on. MaryPoppins might know more. I think she went to the last meeting. I also think the leadership was mostly grad students and law students. I know I would love to do more but as a "regional" advisor for AOII it's hard to do it all with family and a toddler! Plus AOII is trying to get our alumnae group started again.

Just PMed you with contact info that I have, but like OldMissGlitter said - I haven't heard much about this group since late 2011 / early 2012.

It has sputtered as far as I can tell. Maybe we could kind of just get a regular gathering going OxfordDeepher? Maybe that would help get it going again. I'll PM you. Wavycutchip, are you in or around Oxford?

Does anyone know the schedule for 2014 FR? Based on the football schedule, it looks like Bid Day will either be Sept 21 or Oct 12, 2014.

I have asked Theta's Panhellenic Advisor to please go ahead and propose that the schedule be set now since the game schedule is known. I guess we'll see.

CMDelta 10-17-2013 05:14 PM

Can they PLEASE do it on a non-game weekend!! Who decides it anyway? It made NO sense to schedule it during the Auburn away game when so many involved people would have liked to go to Auburn for the game. And Oct 11th is the Aggie game in College Station...for the first time. I KNOW people won't want to miss that!! If someone knows how we can encourage the "powers that be" not to schedule it on the Aggie weekend, please let me know!!

The Collgian Panhellenic votes on it I believe. From January to April Panhellenic was without a Greek Coordinator staff member, perhaps that affected the late determination. If you contact your Ole Miss GLO Advisory Board Member that attends Panhellenic meetings you can let her know of the game conflict issue. My Father lives near Auburn, and so I would loved to have attended the game with him!
