Well, we all have our peccadillos, our soft spots. Tex Flint said
TKE had a badge, not a pin. Pins are for sororities, girls, or a
form of costume jewelry. Tekes wear badges.
Before you get all bent out of shape, we have caved in to Tri
Sigma vs Tri Sig, to fraternity vs sorority for some female groups
and fraternity vs frat.
So, don't take it all too personal.
After all, we are living in a touchy age and people get pissed off
over the smallest of things.
Do you know what killed Captain Hook? Jock itch.
Well, where was I, er, never mind. Merry Xmas, Erik P Conard

members of Alpha Gamma Delta wear badges too!!

The1calledTKE 12-13-2001 02:09 PM

Yah I knew it was a badge but saying pin is a bad habit. I have heard more fellow fraters say pin than badge so I don't feel quite as bad. We need more Erik Conards around the country to help straighten us out.:D

I believe the TKE badge is worn with the point facing to the wearer's left, the viewer's right.

TriSigmaTX 12-13-2001 02:15 PM

names...

I will at this point agree with Erik...just for a moment. Words are words, because if you ask any woman they'll tell you about their badge (thanks AGD). I wear a badge.

But you're right...they are names, and as long as we are all wearing our own badges, then good for us!

From a TKE lover :)

The right side of the triangle on the badge is always perpendicular to the ground, thereby depicying the geographic location of the first three chapters.

From the late Richard Russell Hall, Exec Sec., our own
Bruce B. Melchert, PGP, KoA, OGE, etc., field rep, went
up to Winnipeg and colonized. Named "Canadian Alpha
Colony," the University of Manitoba group became Zeta
Iota chapter. Out of this came Dr. Malcolm Seagrave who
wrote a great TKE songbook, last known to be somewhere
in HQ; Barrie Booth, KoA, field rep; the current Premier of
Manitoba is a ZI Teke. We produced several good fraters
and there is no reason the chapter was allowed to die other
than lack of service. We should be back there. It is simply
a decision to be made, a priority matter.

William D. Reeve, Theta Chapter, U of Minnesota, became TKE Grand Prytanis in 1921. He was later to be known as a writer
of mathematics textbooks.

What chapter did the Sequoyah club later become?

Erik P Conard 12-16-2001 03:50 PM

Nu chapter, U Cal-Berkeley. Now inactive, the house is rented
to some three-eyed cretins...the entire campus is full of fruitcakes, Greeks barely surviving, once a bastion of 40+ chapters...kinda sad. It is laughable in that it is full of asians
who are super students, but school does not know what to do as they knock the lid off the tests and the other 'less gifted' are
having trouble sustaining. Send 'em Kingman Brewster if they
want to have a real donnybrook....him and Angela Davis...well

The1calledTKE 12-17-2001 09:08 AM

What chapter did the local fraternity Delta Delta Tau later become and what is the significance?
