Okies were the folks who left Oklahoma during the dust bowl, mostly for California.

Will Rogers said of them:

"When the Okies left Oklahoma and moved to California, they raised the average intelligence levels in both states."

I've been to all but three of the game this season, including away games. Boyfriend is a season ticket holder. I had a ticket for tonight, but figured a) we'd get blown out; b) it's cold and miserable and c) it's Morganhole - why go?

Went out to dinner with my friends and headed to someone's house afterwards. Checked the score on my blackberry and saw that it was 7-3 WVU at the half. Was super excited at holding WVU to 7 in the entire first half. We watched the second half. What a game. Kicking myself for not going now, of course.

HAIL TO PITT!!!

I don't understand this. After the two upsets last night (BTW, Congrats to the Sooners too) Kirk Herbstreit said something about 2 teams from the same conference cant go to BCS games. They were speaking specifically about the Rose Bowl. He then mentioned something about, "wouldn't it be great to see USC and LSC in Pasedena?".

I always thought the Rose Bowl was automatically Pac 10 vs. Big 10. I'll need to re-read the rules again. That probably changed when the whole BCS thing came about.

Anyways, it will be interesting tonight when they announce the pairings. Go Bucks!

This is what I found regarding the rules for BCS selection: A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:

A. A team in the NCG;
B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents.

My thinking is: obviously, they can't pick tOSU, since they fit A.
B: Illinois is not a host for another BCS since we weren't "in" yet.
C: Now, since the Rose Bowl lost (or will lose shortly) tOSU, they cannot replace them with a team from the same conference as the conference as the team ranked number two unless that other bowl says it's okay. So, let's just say Georgia is the number 2 team; the Rose Bowl can't pick someone from the SEC to replace Ohio, unless the bowl that had Georgia says it's okay since they had the right to the next highest ranked team from the SEC.

Anyone else, did I say that correctly??...or am I misinterpreting it?

In 2001, Ohio State, the Big 10 got into the NC game. At that time, instead of taking the Big 10 #2, the Rose Bowl instead selected Oklahoma as an at-large. Oklahoma then throttled the Pac-10 champ Washington State.

I'm not saying Oklahoma, the Big 12 champ is going to the Rose Bowl, but I think the Rose takes an at-large over Illinois. Missouri, Kansas or Hawaii maybe.

The whole thing confuses me. But, there is one rule I do understand is that Notre Dame will not receive a BCS bid because they are not in the top 8

Benzgirl 12-02-2007 05:24 PM

Here we go:
1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Oklahoma
4. Georgia
5. V Tech
6. USC
7. Mizzou (AP and USAToday), Hawaii (ESPN)
8. Kansas (AP and USAToday), Mizzou (ESPN)
9. Florida (AP), WVa (USA), Kansas (ESPN)
10. Hawaii (AP and USA Today), Florida (ESPN)

BSC Rankings come out tonight, but most are saying OSU and LSU in the BSC Title Game

Perfect.

This gal is still nursing the hangover from last night. I cried like a baby once the clock hit 00:00 and Colt was carried onto the field.

Holy fuck. This feeling's awesome.

Off to the Stan Sheriff in a few hours to await the BCS announcement.

I'm guessing Hawaii goes to the Sugar. That's based on the rumors I've read coming out of the Oklahoma athletic office.

I hear that the Orange Bowl is trying to get Oklahoma because they don't want to see an Oklahoma v. Kansas game (ratings).

We'll know in a few minutes.
