They have a huge house and three years ago was struggling big time to even keep the house. I graduated in 96 and we always had a full house so am glad that is filling up again. It was sad to think a few years ago they faced loosing the house but nationals came in and gave money.

Good for y'all. I'm sure you've all worked very hard to get back to where you are. I know it feels good to see your chapter back on strong footing.

They gave out 96 bids

That's it?!

pinkmama 01-10-2011 09:39 PM

That's probably the amount that accepted, sorry I miswrote

pinkmama 01-10-2011 09:40 PM

most pledge classes at IU are in the 40 range.

AZTheta 01-10-2011 09:43 PM

wait, help me: ADPi had 96 new members, other chapters had less? (don't mean to be obtuse, seriously a little confused).

barnard1897 01-10-2011 09:50 PM

Very happy for ADPi! I know it has been a long road for them for some time, and it's great that things have taken a turn towards the better this year and last. It's a lesson for those sororities that see themselves at the top-such an experience could happen to any house due to finance issues, a few toxic members, lack of good advisers, or just plain bad luck.

And for those chapters that still struggle currently, this must generate some inspiration to remain proud of your house and work hard to improve, even if it's slow progress. Yea for ADPI!

pinkmama 01-10-2011 09:52 PM

Yes other chapters have less. Adpi struggled two years ago and only had like 20 something pledges. Last year they took 52. They have a huge house so with bed quota they have the ability to take a huge class since between seniors graduating and lack of larger pledge class two years ago (who will be seniors in fall) they have room for a large class.

Other chapters typically take 40 something girls because that's what they have room for every year-based on graduating seniors typically or live out policy.

96 is a huge new member class if you ask me. Am I missing sarcasm here?

Oh, no I thought she was saying that all houses took 96 total! In her post earlier I thought she said ADPi took 19 but I just went back and checked and saw she said they took the biggest class of the 19 houses. Misread, that's it.

My closest chapter sister's younger sister is a new Theta at IU! (Their mom is a Theta.)

I can see where they would be able to need 96 new members! ADPi house at Indiana.

Is anyone else sick to death about the number of pictures that can't be reposted anymore?

IUGreekGirl 01-10-2011 10:32 PM

ADPi has been struggling for several years. I believe their total chapter size when I was a freshman was about 60 girls- if that. They have a gigantic house so they give out as many bids as possible to help fill the house. This pledge class will fill their house and they will return to a "normal" (for IU) bed quota number within the next couple years.

Though there were a lot of bids given out, it's always possible that some of their new pledges will drop recruitment. Hopefully not though!!

But my chapter was SOOOOO happy to hear that they were able to give out so many bids. They've worked so hard and done a fantastic job to bring the house up.

I just thought I'd come here and share the good news! I just got back from bid night at my new chapter.... I am a proud new member of Alpha Delta Pi (and YES, it was the house that I came here posting about that I had completely changed my mind about after 8 party)! Even though recruitment didn't always go the way I anticipated or wanted, I am happy with where I ended up. I know that with such a huge pledge class, we will be able to do great things at IU. I am so excited!
