Hmmm. Interesting ya'll. IMHO I would have abstained on both Carmen and Michelle.

And the sad thing is I really think Carmen is as crazy as she seems because the phone call was completely unnecessary. It's not MTV's fault when it comes to that girl.

mmcat 11-20-2003 12:43 AM

a nice ending...a nice party...
and it looked like they really really worked hard on who they let go.
carmen just dug herself too big a hole. and when your big is the sorority president and you still drop, doesn't that tell you something?
she needs to grow up a bit.

I have to admit that I haven't watched 99% of the season, mainly because I was turned off after the first episode, but am I the only one who thinks something is seriously wrong when you vote if they should 'crossover'. Maybe it's because their a local or something, but why the heck did they bother with the voting process in the beginning and then after these girls have spent a semester pledging vote again and then tell a girl 'i'm sorry your not going to get initiated, crossover, whatever'. It seems undoably harsh to do that to someone.
Not that I saw Carmen's attitude this season or anything, but I'd be pretty pissed too if I spent an entire semester pledging and then was told, the night before, 'oh I'm sorry you can't'. How rude is that?
Sorry, had to vent. Really annoyed me when I stopped on MTV after some channel surfing.

Carmen not crossing over

I do agree they should have done it soon, but i also think that if she wasn't "Zeta Material" she shouldn't have crossed either. I am pledge educator or Dean of Pledgees for my sorority this year. I would not cross someone who is not fit for the organization. Carmen's attitude this season was repulsive. I did feel bad for ther but I don't think she should have crossed either. Just because you get into the pledge program doesn't mean you will automatically become a sister. SOrry Carmen!!

crossing over...

im just curious what you all thought about guys being @ the whole crossing over ceremony/party thing??? i know our initiation weekend we have a no booze/no boys policy and its just SISTERS @ the ceremony. i think its so much more meaningful than havin your date standin right behind you as you get your letters. what did you guys think?

33girl 11-20-2003 11:21 AM

OMG!!!!

I have been very open minded about different traditions...but I can't IMAGINE 1) letting the cameras see final voting 2) showing the # of votes each person got 3) having your initiation be in public with random people.

I'm hoping they had an initiation we didn't see - I think a celebration party/formal/dinner/presentation thing is nice but there wasn't much to it.

oh, and I about threw up when Michelle said she changed her personality to be accepted. I'm not sure this one is an improvement. :p

xok85xo 11-20-2003 11:41 AM

i admit i haven't really been following this season, but i caught the episode last night..and i was a little confused. did they actually have an initiation/ritual ceremony? it seemed that all it was was like "okay, we're going to take your pledge pin off now and *poof* you're a sister!"

Senusret I 11-20-2003 11:48 AM

I think that either:

1) What we see is what we got.

-or-

2) There could have been a private ceremony before the one that we saw.

What was more disappointing was the end of the DOC pledge process......like only one dude got a crossing gift!

zchi2 11-20-2003 01:48 PM

I didn't have a problem with the public initiation but I don't understand the male escorts... At the time that I pledged, I really didn't know a guy that I would even want to help me celebrate my special day.

But I have to keep on reminding myself that every group has a different ceremony...

I personally think they should of dropped Carmen a long time ago. Why wait until the day before to tell her if she can cross over? I think that was kind of mean...

cammykaze1920 11-20-2003 02:02 PM

I watched it last nite and maybe it is just me but couldn't Jenn be a little more sensitive to Carmen's situation? I definitely don't agree with the public voting either.

Can you tell me what happen on fraternity life because I left the house to go to my brothers line last night with like 15 minutes left in the show. I know Pat was so hung over and they had to run to the beach but what happen after that?

Zetagymnast 11-20-2003 04:48 PM

Induction/Intiation

In my sorority we have a mini cermony crossing night and we have a formal induction. The induction service is for their family and friends to come out and witness their official crossing over pledging their alligance to God and to the sorority. We are a Christian Sorority so I see nothing wrong with a public service, but we do have a private one when first cross that is for sister and pledges only.

CatStarESP4 11-20-2003 04:53 PM

I knew that Carmen wouldn't crossover. She badmouthed some of the actives and had some temper tantrums. What did she mean that she thought that ZSP was different? Did she pledge a sorority before only to depledge?

I was surprised that Michelle was allowed to crossover. I didn't think she would get in after writing such disrespectful things about the actives. I wonder about the abstentions. Were those who abstained from voting really wanted to say no to her, but decided not to at the end.

I thought that the girls need a unanimous vote as in all 22 actives saying yes, but most got in with yeses and abstentions.
