Honestly I can't remember. It just seems strange compared to other campuses I've looked at this year. Definitely not complaining and I have been very happy with the amount of private accounts I have found.

There are pictures on Instagram under #OLEMISSREC13 but not as many as I would have expected.

Thanks to KD Cat (who posted the KD picture a few posts above) I now follow Ole Miss KD on Twitter and just saw they posted their pledge class pic:

Yes, my DD is a very happy and excited KD. Mom is happy, too, but tired! Hope everyone else is happy today!

Thanks again everyone for your great info and support!

While they are funneling the girls to run "over" the chains someone is probably making a video. There is one on youtube of a girl hitting the ground underneath what appears to be the very tree in the above picture.

newbierebmom 10-06-2013 06:24 PM

Oh no...My DD told me about that video on youtube from last year. Is there another one from this year already? ugh.

Luckily, my DD avoided this trap!!

WooHoo! Congratulations and welcome to your daughter!!

msbeta 10-06-2013 06:30 PM

I saw it on youtube last week so it was likely the same video your dd saw. Would completely ruin your bid day to be hurt yourself on the chain and not get to finish your "run."

Congrats on your daughter's KD bid! It is a wonderful organization, even if the Ole Miss chapter refers to their new members as "Baby Bears" ...

ladybug12 10-06-2013 07:01 PM

Thanks for posting the pictures of Phi Mu, IUHoosiergirl88! Great to see all of those happy girls!

Alpha O 10-06-2013 07:06 PM

According to our nationals' FB post, AOII got 125 new members!!!

Love it!

dvs-dz 10-06-2013 07:07 PM

Thrilled, thrilled, just found out that my niece has joined her sister (and her mother!) in Delta Gamma!!!

als463 10-06-2013 07:18 PM

Will there be a list later on to see where girls went? I want to see where my one rec. girl has gone. I'd love to know.

Ahhhh...Thanks. I must have totally missed that. I'm just glad to see that this is one of the schools that does a list.

msbeta 10-06-2013 07:43 PM

The girls I know seem to have gone in pairs (but are not necessarily BFFs): 2 Chi-O, 2 Tri-Delt, and 2 Phi Mu. The pictures have started showing up in my Facebook feed. So much fun for these girls!

FSUZeta 10-06-2013 07:43 PM

Congratulations to newbieredaughter and dvs-dz niece, as well as mskkg rec. girl and msbeta rec crew!

thetalady 10-06-2013 08:16 PM

WOOHOO!!! Theta took what I hear is the largest pledge class of 142 :D

thetalady 10-06-2013 08:16 PM

And AOPi has 125 new pledges!

CMDelta 10-06-2013 08:35 PM

Ole Miss Bid Day

Msbeta, the joke was on the boys last year who tripped the girl! She is a girl from our hometown and a volleyball player at that so she just "tucked and rolled", popped up and kept running! They certainly picked the wrong girl!
I will try to post pictures (since I got some great ones) when I figure out how to do it. Ha ha. And I heard I officially that Pi Phi got 126 pledges! My DD was thrilled that 4 of our 5 hometown girls pledged Pi Phi!!

LuvMyPNM 10-06-2013 08:43 PM

We were trying not to obsess and I'm sorry if you feel my question or concern was inappropriate. I was sitting at lunch with my OOS, no-legacy daughter where 2 friends were telling her that. She was beyond stressed - she wanted it so badly. I trusted the system and keep telling her but I knew how GC worked too: that the wonderful ladies and gents here would quickly set things straight and they did. I showed the answers to DD and told her to please shut her ears and trust in the system. She saw plenty of things that upset her this week -- friends dropped and drop out, getting knocks, she was frazzled. She was given 3 great options and all 9+ options at ole miss are great. She knows that, she believes that and so do I. But she is 18 yrs old and had a preference.

That said, I want to thank all of you here for the information, advice and support. I am so glad I found this site. You were so right about this works and what to expect. I was right more times that I can count when discussing things with other moms. And that was because of the information here. Most of all I kept telling them "it will work out as it should" and "everyone will be where they truly belong".

That's it. I'm done -- until the next daughter, that is.

msbeta 10-06-2013 08:46 PM

Go Pi Phi!
And boo for boys that trip girls...good for the young lady that turned the joke on them.
I still haven't seen anything about one of my daughter's friends except a cryptic post that make me think that everything didn't go her way. I'm hoping that was not the case.

Hahaha! Thats genius! I'm getting old and my reflexes are too slow!

If that happened to me i'd probably break a hip and lay on the ground looking for my Life Alert button lol.

ladybug12 10-06-2013 09:17 PM

Ok Luv...where did your daughter pledge? If you do not want to post please PM me. So glad things worked out for your DD!

carnation 10-06-2013 09:23 PM

Ditto, Luv!

southernbelle95 10-06-2013 09:28 PM

Hello ladies! I just thought I would let you know that I pledged Phi Mu and could not be more excited! :) Thank y'all for all you do!

msbeta 10-06-2013 09:44 PM

Saw a picture in my newsfeed of a hometown AOPi pledge and found another hometown girl who pledge Delta Gamma.

DeltaBetaBaby 10-06-2013 09:46 PM

Sorry, but welcome to the TRIbe really made me cringe. Haven't there been enough embarrassments lately for collegians to learn to stop using ethnicities as themes?

Yeah... And in a lot of the Bid Day pictures I saw, they had this Native American theme and had headpieces and feathers and it was cringey... They could've done something else.
