I think what they were trying to say is that they're tired of their room being the "hang out" spot for the kids. Like, they come in and out, get up early and watch TV in there, try to sleep in there as opposed to their own rooms, etc. |

I can certainly see that parents are entitled to privacy, etc and I agree that using and abusing the parents' bedroom can be curtailed. We have a Please Don't use Our Bathroom policy at our house. But, again, my issues with Kate are the way she says things. It's as if she thinks being a bad ass is the cool way to parent...I think that is really what is behind the outcry over Kate banning them from her bedroom. |

So, what is a child supposed to do when he/she gets sick (which always happens in the middle of the night), or has a bad dream? Knocking first, sure - but total banishment?

I don't know about you guys, but I certainly don't believe everything that comes out of their mouths. |

I'm sorry, but why on Earth would someone as big of a germaphobe as Kate get the kids puppies?!
Then she complains about how they pee, poop, don't listen, etc. Wow, imagine that. I'd never get kids that young an animal, because guess who generally gets to be the one to clean up after them? Mom & Dad. |

I shouldn't mock.....I read the first book and actually really enjoyed it. :o |
I actually felt sorry for Mady in this episode. She obviously feels so frustrated all of the time! The whole naming the puppy bit was such a big deal to her - just another example of how she reacts so strongly to being manhandled and powerless. I am the first one to say she needs discipline in most cases, but I am starting to sympathize with her because Kate is turning into such a B*%ch about everything.
Truthfully, I can't stand Kate anymore and I question almost all of her motives these days. But I love these little kiddos and I can't quit watching them! Aagh! |
Intersting article about the Gosselins in Philadelphia Magazine
Interesting comments by readers (I have to admit I am not a fan of the show because I cringe watching Kate cut Jon's cajones off time and time again. He needs to grow a pair!) |
Interesting comparison by one of the posters to the Dionnes. Although there were so many more things involved in that, like the Dionnes being French and the Canadian gov't trying to downplay that fact.

Jon parties! Plays Beer Pong!
So apparently Jon finally had enough - and went out partying while visiting his mom. Good discussion of what it might all mean -

I haven't watched the show in a few weeks. Do they have babysitters sometimes? Both Jon and Kate need "me" time and "couple" time outside of the kids. Their family situation makes me cringe everytime I watch it. |

I don't think it necessarily "means" anything, just that EVERYBODY needs to party at some point. Parents aren't meant to be in their Mommy and Daddy roles ALL the time. It's not healthy. |
Healthy "me" time?
Well, when I (mother of a mere 4) go to "party", it isn't playing beer pong with young men 1/2 my age. Nope, I tend to go out with my friends, or even my husband. I think there is appropriate mommy/daddy time, and then there's this. I am all for Jon having a good time, but the larger issue is what all this publicity means as far as the children's well-being. Is it in their best interest to be on the show? I think the Open Salon piece does a good job of pointing out some of the ramifications of it all. Given that he's married to Kate, I'm surprised the man isn't a raging alcoholic!
