According to sources close to the singer, on Thursday Houston attempted to jump out of a hotel window but was stopped by his security personnel. He was then locked in his hotel room, where he injured himself. There are currently no further details on the incident, although photographs of his injury are circulating online.

The Los Angeles native, born Houston Summers IV, was overseas for a series of performances when the incident occurred. He scored a hit last year with the Chingy and Nate Dogg-featured "I Like That" (see "Houston Scores Club Hit With Help From Chingy, Nate Dogg"), which was also featured in a McDonald's commercial. His debut album, It's Already Written, was certified gold a month after its release in August of last year.

Representatives for Houston's label, Capitol Records, could not be reached for comment.

For real. I mean, I have heard of cutting and all that, but he took his eye out????? That's self-inflicted pain on a whole 'nother level.

Girl, I had the misfortune of seeing the picture. :( I'm confused also as to the reason why they'd leave him alone. There are numerous things one could do in a locked hotel room to injure themselves. :(

Thank you to Savvy and BigChill. But does his socket look empty to y'all? I just need to know did he for real pull his eye out. Like totally severed it from whatever holds it in place (ligaments?? it's sad how little I know about how my body is put together)?

EWWWW. What kind of drugs make you take your own eye out? He had to be on something. I understand his depression, or whatever, but taking your own eye out? That is disgusting.

It was reported here on the radio that dude was doing PCP, so this could be one of the reasons as to why this started happening.
