Yes I'm in that situation as well because we won't know who's participating until the morning of when we actually visit the participating houses.
FSUZeta-I know that none of my relatives are sorority members but I could definitely try my teachers so thanks for that info! adpiucf-my concern about fall though is that I would be a sophomore so it is harder to do formal recruitment if you're a sophomore? |

My suggestion would be that if the PNM knows a sorority alumna, she should tell her the situation..."she is going to participate in Informal recruitment, and as of yet does not know which sororities will be able to participate, but would appreciate a recommendation be sent in for her". Then the alumna could investigate from her end,if she is not from in state herself(if she is she probably knows if that chapter usually holds spring rush or not) to see if that chapter will be holding spring rush. Worst case scenario? Alumna sends in a rec. and chapter is not rushing-rec. gets tossed. PNM has to ask for a 2nd rec. for fall recruitment, if she doesn't not join a chapter in the spring. |
For UF spring rush we're allowed to stay at each participating house as long as we want but we have to visit every participating house. Any suggestion as to how long I should stay at each one?

That makes sense and thanks so much for the help! I'm so anxious and worried but super excited for it! Any other tips/hints/suggestions? I really hope I find that house that I click with!

Give them all a chance-each group has beautiful, smart, involved members and you can find a place in any group. Throw out any preconceived notions and DO NOT listen to other opinions. Go where you like them and feel comfortable and where they like you!
|
Thanks again! I'll let you know how everything goes! :D

Yes give them all a chance as said by FSUZeta. My dd loves her sorority at UF and loves living in the house. And I can now answer the question about the girl who got 4 bids in the spring last year and declined them all...not one of those houses extended a bid in the fall ...will not ever know why ...and then she dropped out of the one that she did get matched up to...so be open to it all and have fun!
|
Wow that's crazy. Honestly I feel like all of the sororities at UF are great. I just hope that I find the one I really connect to during spring and that they give me a bid

So Recruitment was today and it was so busy! They basically met with us early morning to tell us how bidding worked for the spring and to tell us who was participating in addition to tabling for an hour that way we could actually meet some members before going to the houses.
Judging from the past year's posts it seems like this year is way more structured as to how they give out bids. Basically Panhellenic Council is actually going to process all of the bids and notify girls as to whether they receive a bid or bids or not after 5pm tomorrow then from 7 to 9 we pick up however many bids we received and we have 24 hours to accept or decline it. As like other years, bidding will go on for a week or two as people decline some bids that they received. I'm really nervous about it because I felt like I connected with some sororities but with others I felt like they kind of just pushed me through the house and it felt like they didn't really care. It's also very nerve racking just because there were so many girls that were rushing and not as many bids available. |
How many groups are participating?

There were 9.
Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Zeta, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Kappa, Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Mu, Chi Omega, and Kappa Alpha Theta. |
