Let's see. The worst one about me was started by my English Teacher when I was a senior in high school.

The reason why is a very long and drawn out story that took place from August to May of my senior year that resulted in a lot of drama with her (she was also our speech and debate team coach -- this is why there was drama), our two assistant coaches (men -- ages 24 and 28) and my three best friends (the other captains of the team).

Basically, the team fell apart around her and she didn't want to blame it on herself so she fired our two assistant coaches (who did 99.5% of the work) and then exiled us pretty much (and we were state qualifiers in debate, so we know how to argue and be persuasive, so not smart on her part ;)).

It truly is long and drawn out and takes me nearly 45 minutes to tell in person about all the events that happened that year.

To make things short, after she fired the assistant coaches, she told the administration at my school that I was sleeping with the 24 year old. This got me in trouble for the fact I was 17, he was 24 and it was almost like student-teacher relations. The problem is, I wasn't sleeping with him and he had a girlfriend. We were just great friends, as I had known him since I was 6 years old, and I was the one who gave my teacher his number to come help out with the team.

I'm still frustrated to this day.

I know that these are all rumors that were started about you, but I would think that it would have been HIM in trouble, not you. After all, as a teacher, he is in a position of authority / trust, etc..I'm sure you catch my drift.

In grade 11, some nasty boys started a rumour that I went behind the pool with a guy in our grade and within seconds, started giving him a BJ. It was definitely not true, and it was really humiliating to have to listen to the taunts. Sigh.

Another girl started a rumour that I was going around before rush, saying that I was "guaranteed a bid" and that I could pick and choose whereever I wanted to be. AS IF!

this reminds me of a rumor that i kindasorta started in middle school, that one of my teachers was a child molester. it was a joke, and then people took it seriously (this is after i built up a pretty strong case) and next thing you know, ACS is investigating my social studies teacher.

while it never got back to my mom, i sure feel the wrath of that one, because it went from funny to humiliating in the course of a week.

I've been thinking a lot about this thread. I honestly can't think of anything (at least that I've heard) that someone has said about me that isn't true. LOLOL! Gotta keep thinkin.

Not a nasty rumor, but one that wouldn't go away. In college, had a best buddy, the guy was/is funny, we'd go hiking, bike riding, or just looking for the best dive bar. I heard the buzz was we were more than friends, I just started laughing. I have brothers, so hanging with a guy at times didn't seem weird. A girl who became his girlfriend and future wife believed the rumors, and always when he isn't around is very chilly to me. Oh, well.

middle school- Backstory: I changed middle schools 3 weeks into the school year (honestly looking back, my parents should have started me at the "new" school before our move). My new school was incredibly "snobby" and on the first day of school (for me) not a single person spoke to me (proves the snobbiness). About December-February time frame a girl named Harmony decided to write on a desk and spread a rumor that I was a "masterbating bitch". The rumor didn't last more than a couple of hours, most people rolled their eyes because, yeah as if someone could really masterbate in class (which is what she was "claiming" I had done ). She wasn't obviously the brightest bulb in the socket.
Whats dumb is that this whole "rumor" got started because I was carrying to much stuff in my hands, was handed more stuff and put some of the papers and crap I was carrying between my legs (to hold it quickly and get organized). I'm not sure how putting books between your thighs, near your knees, is masterbating but to her it was

I just dealt with a rumor at my work. My principal had made some comments to be about coaching cheer and the head coach. I went to her with them and she told me they weren't true. Okay end of story, not. Like 2 weeks after I spoke to her she talks to me about this "rumor" she heard from some cheerleaders that I was 1) trying to take over her team the 09/10 school year and 2) was going to completely change the team. It was so dumb because she was mad at me for something I had spoken to her about. It has "gone away" now, but I'm sure in the back of her mind she is wondering. All I can do is reassure her that I DON'T want the job of head coach. That is all hers :D I have enough on my plate and I don't even want it next year. I am perfectly find co-coaching freshmen :D

One of my ex boyfriends tried to start a rumor that I got drunk and ran around a fraternity house with no clothes on 2 nights in a row.
BUT I hadn't been out in over a month because of school work and hadn't been that specific house in like 2 months.
psshh ex-boyfriends trying to cause trouble

violetpretty 09-02-2008 07:19 PM

I also had an ex-boyfriend start a rumor about me. He was IMing acquaintances of mine pretending to be this girl from another town who allegedly saw me super wasted at a party, naked, having anal sex on a pool table. Mind you, when this alleged party in Maryland took place, I was in Canada with my family, didn't drink AT ALL, and had not even lost my virginity.

I know the rumor made it around town, but I think that because it was such an outlandish rumor, no one believed it. He wasn't smart enough to make up a rumor that might be realistic.

Kind of a rumor, more of a misinterpretation by a girlfriend...I went to dated party with this guy who went to high school with one of my chapter sisters. He was a nice guy, just broke up with his girlfriend, but nothing happened between us, not even a kiss. We just danced and had a good time, hung out a few times as friends. He gets back together with his ex. The ex comes through recruitment. At the first round, one of my sisters told me she talked to this PNM who said I hooked up with her boyfriend. I am racking my brain to figure out who it could possibly be (of course, my friend's ex, now gf again). She must just be paranoid.

I ran into someone I new (the ex-girlfriend of my cousin, so didn't really know them that well) but they told they had heard I died. I was speechless, how does a rumor like that get started?

BetteDavisEyes 09-03-2008 10:22 AM

When Mike & I were first dating, we went by my sisters house and she gave me a ring to give to another sister. It was a very pretty gold ring with lots of diamonds. I put it on my hand to make sure I wouldn't lose it in my purse. I forgot about it when we went to meet his family for a graduation dinner. His cousin noticed it and rather than ask me about it, spread it all around that Mike & I were engaged to be married later that year. Apparently, those rumors really grew & grew until a month later when his mom asked me what had happened to my ring. By that point, I had completely forgotten about it until she described it in detail. I laughed and explained that it was my sister's ring and I was holding on to it for a short while. She looked immensely relieved.

It was really stupid seeing as how Mike & I had only been dating for 2 months.

nikki1920 09-03-2008 01:37 PM

This happened to me at work last year. I was going through moderate depression and had lost a significant amount of weight.. The rumor going around was that I was on drugs, and that's why I had missed so many days.

I'm really nice, in person.
