A former GTau Scholarship Advisor is now the GPhi MD Advisor. :)

AGDLynn 08-21-2008 11:57 AM

West Georgia

Heard today that 228 pnms have already signed up and the last day is August 25th!

Usually about 30 or so don't even show up so that's is great!!

Last year, I think about 150 signed up and 130 showed up??

:D

SassyPantsAGD 08-21-2008 08:53 PM

That's awesome Lynn!

How did they go about increasing the numbers for recruitment??

I'm worried about Western Carolina's sorority recruitment....When I was an undergraduate we usually had around 125 go through recruitment with 90ish sign bid cards...

this last recruitment only 55 signed up and 35 signed bid cards...maybe your Panhellenic can get Western in gear LOL

We don't do formal until the spring which is a downer anyways...I'm so nervous about this semester...We need 23 women to get to chapter total (55). I just did my recruitment workshop last week and informal recruitment kick starts next week!!

I'm getting soooo anxious...and I'm really hoping for a great turn out for Formal in the spring...I might not have any hair left if the number trend keeps going the way it goes!!!

AGDLynn 08-21-2008 10:15 PM

Without knowing specifics, I am guessing that the great job of Panhellenic to promote Greek life, the new stadium and esp. the new Greek village have a lot to do with it. Both the new stadium and GV are supposed to open next fall.

I think that one of the reasons for "low" turn out is that Labor Day weekend is the 1st 3day weekend of the semester and pnms don't want to stay in town. I don't know why last year was especially bad.

Sassy...I was wondering why WC doesn't have fall recruitment. I don't know much about the area but it would seem that fall would be "warmer" than January.;)

SassyPantsAGD 08-22-2008 12:14 AM

Lynn...

I'll tell you...

One of my goals before I finish being the Recruitment Advisor is to get the campus to boot deferred recruitment. But before I can do that I need to get my facts together...especially on university retention rates, scholarship, etc.

WCU is a place that has absolutely nothing to do (No lie...no chain restaurants besides fast food...no "young people" hang outs...no mall for 45 miles) so people either leave the university after their first semester or they "have no reason" to go Greek because they have gotten involved in other things on campus or "don't need to pay for friends" when they made their own. I think there are so many great leaders at WCU that just never gave it thought because of the Spring Recruitment period. With the declining numbers its really going to give me an ulcer LOL. I guess if this year has poor participation again then I will really have to start putting together a case to get rid of deferred recruitment.

Speaking about gaining a GV...the peak of our recruitments were the year that we first had the GV. They are great communities to have. I'm anxious for this year with it being my first year being the Recruitment Advisor!! I'm going to be biting my nails until the year is over :)

GammaIota1009 08-22-2008 01:22 PM

Recruitment starts Monday at Mercer University!
Monday, August 25 -- Open House

Tuesday, August 26 -- Philanthropy Night

Wednesday, August 27 -- Invitational Night

Thursday, August 28 -- Preference Night
Friday, August 29 -- Bid Day

AGDLynn 08-23-2008 04:40 AM

So far, 250 have signed up for WGa. The deadline is Monday. :D

With 6 chapters, I know everyone is going to do great!

VandalSquirrel 08-24-2008 11:27 PM

Word on the street is that Delta Theta took quota (27) plus (not positive of how many plus), and the house is so full women are living out. Additionally they are within a single digit of total, and all the other groups are at total so that will likely change quickly.

I'm thoroughly impressed.

GtownGirl98 08-25-2008 02:18 PM

I'm not totally sure of this... I haven't been involved this year with UK as much as in the past... I have a new little boy at home... but I was told while dealing with HA stuff that UK met quota plus (which I think was a total of 72... don't quote me on this though). I'm sure Marie would know for sure!

Congratulations, Arin!

GtownGirl98 08-25-2008 09:03 PM

Thanks... he was born 4 weeks early and is doing really well. He was totally worth missing convention for the 5th time in a row! Maybe I will be able to go in 2010!

Benzgirl 08-25-2008 09:39 PM

Awww, a future Alpha Gam Man!
Congratulations!

AGDLynn 08-25-2008 10:32 PM

Congratulations, Arin!

AGDLynn 08-25-2008 10:44 PM

Back to recruitment, lol

GAMMA BETA got QUOTA! whatever that was, lol.

(According to the Recruitment board,...)

That's awesome!

nolesaw 08-26-2008 02:03 PM

SO excited for Gamma Beta! Congrats to the AGD SEMINOLES! I think quota was 46...not sure what they actually took. Anyone have the figures?

AGDee 08-26-2008 05:40 PM

Gotta go tell Amber on Facebook.. she'll be so excited!

Anxiously waiting for recruitment to start for my chapters.

Very actively developing a plan to recruit advisors for our chapter in Marquette. Planning AI recruitment events is a whole new experience but I'm getting more and more ideas all the time and having some fun. I've even found some women willing to help! I love our Director of Alumnae Development!!!!! So, if anybody knows someone in/around Marquette, MI who they think would make a good sister and advisor, email me their name! I'm ace@vst... y'all know the rest!

AGDLynn 08-26-2008 10:08 PM

Beta Alpha - Neb. Wesleyan

I heard that they got quota plus 2 which puts them at 36 members. I'm guessing chapter total is 36 and not 36 nms?

AGDLynn 08-27-2008 05:53 PM

WOOWOO!!

West Georgia has 272 pnms to sign up.

Wow, that could mean 30+ new members for each group!:D

SassyPantsAGD 08-28-2008 04:42 PM

Lynn!

That is SO exciting!! Congrats to the Panhellenic of West Georgia!!!

Here, here, I am too! Did you get clarification on their #s?

AGDLynn 08-30-2008 08:27 PM

West Ga recruitment is going great. It's wonderful that so many pnms signed up.

I prob won't go back until Bid Night...of course, I could change my mind.;)

Oh I forgot, the LC is very nice!! I didn't recognize her and thought she was a GTau I hadn't met, lol.

Well, WGa Rec. is finally over. I was beginning to think that it wasn't going to end. Things were going great with the new ICS Rec software program but there were computer issues. The bid lists were supposed to be available about 6 but they were finally released a little after 9.

GTau did great! I'm very proud of them. They got 25 new members; quota was 27.

GammaIota1009 09-02-2008 11:52 AM

Gamma Iota Mercer University

made quota at 25
now over total!

AGDLynn 09-02-2008 12:06 PM

Congrats, GI!:D

Lynn:

My daughter's roommate went Alpha Gam! Daughter texted me about 9:30. She is thrilled for her roommate-and this girl is precious, she came and stayed w/ us a few weekends ago. Yall have an awesome new pledge!

Daughter called earlier that evening to tell me about the computer glitch, and said she and the rest of the Rho Gams had been "entertaining the troops" for quite some time at that point. They were just getting ready to go out to do the Rho Gam reveal.

I saw some pictures today of a lot of the pledge classes and they are all truly amazing. Daughter is thrilled with the girls they got, as well as the number!

AGDLynn 09-02-2008 03:52 PM

I think I actually talked to her without knowing the connection!

Beautiful young lady. She was so excited.

There were at least 2 legacies pledged. There may have been 1 or 2 more but I'm not sure if they pledged anywhere.

Benzgirl 09-02-2008 05:01 PM

Congratulations Lynn.

Theta Iota Recolonization

Just thought I would give a quick update-
39 women attended the general information portion last night. No freshman attended due to the mandatory meeting all freshman had to attend at WKU.
One of my former roommates and good friends is down there helping out. I told her I would be down for Preference Friday most likely and offered to be a Pearl Sister.
I am so excited!

squirrely girl 09-03-2008 12:45 PM

so will there be another opportunity to recruit freshman for the colony?

AGDLynn 09-03-2008 08:21 PM

Update: GTau has 27 (and maybe 1 more) new members!

If my remembering is correct, that will put them just under or at or just below Chapter Total. I can't remember if CT is 62, 63, 64 or 65, lol.

Excellent!

ilovemyglo 09-06-2008 11:01 AM

Drumroll.... please.... Theta Iota has 25 new women to start the recolonization process... Most of these girls are already bringing friends around to see about getting more women. The goal is to have around 75 by the start of next school year for recruitment. This is what most chapters have at recruitment at WKU. Chapter total is 95 and quota is usually anywhere from 34-40.
Feel free to send any notes of welcome or congrats to the chapter house.
Loyally,
Sarah

Benzgirl 09-06-2008 11:51 AM

Wonderful news, Sarah. And congrats to all of our new baby squirrels.

AGDLynn 09-06-2008 09:28 PM

Wooowoo!

That's great!

Next time we go to BG, I'll have to drop some goodies by house!

Benzgirl 09-07-2008 10:08 PM

According to the Delta Gamma Forum, at UAB, Quota was 26and Alpha Gam took 27.

Delta Pi - San Francisco State University starts formal recruitment September 15th with Bid Day on September 19th. We had close to 200 potential new members come out to the Panhellenic Open House interested in the 3 National organizations. We are really excited to have another great year...I will keep you all posted on the progress.
