PinkRose1098 08-14-2008 03:51 PM

Mine is very very hard [sarcasm now folks]

Pink Rose - the flower of Alpha Xi Delta
1098 - my initiation number. I was the 1,098th member initiated into my chapter.

Scully 08-14-2008 04:12 PM

Mine is my AEPhi pledge name. And it stuck because with four girls named Melissa in our chapter, I don't think any of us were called by our given name!

Loosely related to my fraternity and strongly reflects my own life and aspirations.

Lol, I have always wanted to know where your name came from and forgot to ask. Dionysus, too!

AlphaFrog 08-14-2008 06:31 PM

Alpha = Alpha Sigma Alpha
Frog = I've collected frogs for at least 15 years. Frogs are smart, they eat what bugs them.;)

christiangirl 08-14-2008 06:39 PM

^^^eat what "bugs" them...heehee:)

BTW, my name actually comes from the lyrics in my sig. There's a Christian Hip Hop group that I love and my fave song from them is (ta-da) "Christian Girl." :p It's a rap ballad about the type of woman they want to fall in love with. I worried slightly that when people saw that SN, they'd assume I was an uber-sheltered, hyperreligious freak that damns everyone to hell (which most users did). I think I've effectively established my normalcy, but you never know.

BuckeyeTriDelta 08-14-2008 07:05 PM

Get ready for this one..

Buckeye: Where I live (you know Ohio being known as the "Buckeye State"), oh yeah and that whole Ohio State thing

Tri Delta: because I am one

texas*princess 08-14-2008 07:08 PM

texas = i live in texas

* = because I felt I needed a word seperator and I feel the astrick is somehow girlier than the dash "-"

princess = well, because I'm a princess :)

DoctorD 08-14-2008 07:21 PM

mine is what my students call me.

AlwaysSAI 08-14-2008 08:36 PM

Ehemm. Drum roll please.

I'll always be an SAI. So, AlwaysSAI.

I want to change it to Love&Roses because that's how all sisters sign letters, emails, cards to other sisters, etc. But, I don't want to loose my posts, so I haven't done it yet.

JennRN 08-14-2008 08:56 PM

Wait for it, this is super exciting!!!

Jenn is my name
RN is what I am

WOW.

Yes, ma'am! I have said countless times that I wouldn't trust someone who doesn't like Tiny Dancer.

I've been called Honey since I was a baby, but it was taken. So, I went with what my cousin's gramma used to call me. Why I didn't think of a number, I have no idea.

LightBulb 08-14-2008 09:30 PM

Mine is my sorority nickname. :)

Benzgirl 08-14-2008 09:33 PM

I use to compete in auto racing, and raced a Mercedes. There weren't too many women on the track and even fewer Mercedes Sedans. Since many people didn't know my name at first, they called me Mercedes Lady and it eventually turned into BenzGirl. The name stuck.

I always drove Mercedes until last year when I leased a Land Rover. I'm going back after my lease is up. Land Rovers suck.

Good call. Land Rovers do suck at turning. Mercedes(es?) are so smooth.

It was mine, too. Nobody ever called me that before I was a Pi Phi, and nobody has ever called me that since, so it seemed appropriate for use on a Greek chatboard.

SHEETCAKE 08-14-2008 10:57 PM

I am a cake that comes in sheet form.

Coquiporvida 08-15-2008 12:43 AM

Well, Coqui por vida means coqui for life in spanish. El Coqui (indigenous frog from Puerto Rico) is my sorority mascot, and of course I am a Coqui por vida! :)

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for starting this thread! So many unanswered questions have now been answered!

It's my second favorite song! It's my fav song that I can listen to at any time. (The other song is for special occasions only.)

DreamfulSpirit 08-15-2008 02:51 AM

This is my AIM sn that I've had for a couple of years...I was never very good at being creative in sn department :(

However...I loved the word "spirit" because I always tell people if I can't make it to anything, that I'm always there in spirit!

I just thought of the ANTM episode when the judges are talking about a girl's head being shaped like a lightbulb and Tyra gets all indignant and says "My whole family calls me lightbulb head." :D

PrettyBoy 08-15-2008 04:43 AM

I don't want anyone to think I'm arrogant, because I'm very humble. But this is the honest truth. Women have always said I'm handsome, pretty, good looking, fine, ect ect. In fact, I haven't met a woman yet who wasn't physically attracted to me. I was also given a nick name when I was in undergrad with the word "Pretty" in it. I'm in no way saying those things about myself, it's just what I've been told. So, what the hell? I figured I would just go with the flow and use PrettyBoy as my screen name.:)

ETA: And of course it's not just what women say about me, but it's also a bglo stereotype about my fraternity as well.:)

Coquiporvida 08-15-2008 08:30 AM

So your a Kappa, Kappa Alpha Psi I mean?! :)

speedsters 08-15-2008 02:10 PM

My name is my summer camp name - speedy and and we all added -sters to our names one day and it kinda stuck for me. So a lot of my things online are speedsters, because my camp personality is a huge part of me :)

TrojanWoman 08-15-2008 02:14 PM

This is probably self explanatory but here goes . . . .

I went to USC, hence the love for Trojans, and I felt like I was too old to be Trojangirl so I went with Trojanwoman.

I also use that name in fantasy leagues and it definitely gets lots of condom references!

aephi alum 08-15-2008 04:04 PM

Prepare to be amazed by my originality.

aephi: I'm an AEPhi
alum: I'm an alum

That is all. :p

I'm still watching you!.....troll.

Troll Buster 08-16-2008 01:05 AM

My screen name was given to me when I was hired by greekchat. I have a greekchat Bachelor's degree in Trollism with a minor in Trollology. I went on to get my greekchat Master's degree in Trollosophy. After graduation I worked and busted a few trolls to get the experience. I then went on to get my PhD in Troll Busting. After I got my PhD, greekchat hired me right away. Since then, I've busted Emmanuel Lewis, Ronald Jeremy, kinkoboi, Mr. Kinko Man and now I'm after socialite.

That's how I got my SN.

I just have never heard anyone call a male a "socialite". That is typically a feminine term.

5Knowledge1913: 5 is my line number, Knowledge is my line name, 1913 is the year that my sorority was founded.

KatieKate1244 08-16-2008 09:31 PM

The KatieKate is a nickname a few of my friends started calling me when I switched my name from Katie to Kate (My real name is Kathleen. Ugh.). 1244 is my old street number.

WinniBug 08-16-2008 09:35 PM

My name is Whitney
When I was younger, people called me Whitney the Pooh, which some college friends changed to Winnie Pooh.
When I joined ASA, I dropped the e and added Bug (for the ladybug)

It's also a nickname my husband calls me sometimes now.

That's my dad's and my song. When I was little, he'd pick me up and we'd dance to it. Last summer, we danced to it at my wedding.

I'm a Kappa... obviously... and I love cats. If I am reincarnated, I hope I'm fortunate enough to come back as a housecat. Think about it: sunbeams to lounge in, people to pet you, and you don't have to do anything, yet you know you're superior to everyone.

:p

Thetagirl218 08-17-2008 12:08 AM

Mine is pretty simple......I am a Theta.....and I am a girl.....and I love the numbers 218 for some reason! :)

I think "socialite" is effeminate in the way "prostitute" is effeminate. You can certainly have a prostitute that is not female, but it just doesn't happen as often, and when people say the word "prostitute" people almost automatically think female unless specified otherwise.

Don't take this post the wrong way - it's just the closest example of similar connotation I could come up with. I'm not calling you a prostitute.;)
