UGGGGH! |
My first "job" was at Sam's Club in college. I loved it, and worked with a great group of people. I quit after I had to work 39.8 hours on finals week, in a semester that I was taking 21 hours, along with everything else!
Then I started working as a computer lab manager, and loved it! :-) I did that until I graduated. After graduation I've worked in telemarketing (lasted 2 days), and as a teacher. My background was NOT education in college, but I loved being a teacher, and for the most part I loved my students. I had 7,8, and 9 grade boys, and taught every subject. They were mostly rejects from public schools and private schools. I got paid PEANUTS ($300 a week gross) and dealt with them bringing knives and fights. LUCKILY there wasn't enough money to continue the Jr. High program, so I had to be laid off. Finally I've worked the past 5 years as a tax preparer. Now I own my own tax prep business, although we may not be able to open in the upcoming year. :( I've made more money in the 4 months of tax season, than I made teaching 10 months, and I love it. But this last year was NOT a good one. :o |
My first job - with a paycheck - was working at day camp. A horseback riding day camp with long hours, holding onto 3 year olds on top of ponies learning to trot, breathing in hay & horse poop, and running around in breeches and high boots on 98 degree days! Needless to say, I fainted or came close to it on numerous occasions. I then continued to work at camp for the next 5 summers before moving onto the glamorous world of retail during my college years. I've now been employeed full time as a Graphic Designer for the last 8 years.

At 16, I started working at Camelot Music (retail store). Within a few months, the store closed because the company was acquired by Trans World (FYE) and they shut our location down.
Within a few months, my old manager was calling me back because Trans World decided to open a Record Town in the same location as the old Camelot Music store. I was hired back as lower manager (Keyholder) which was huge for me since I was under 18. Record Town is gone now as I believe all the stores became FYEs. |
My first job was working at a mall customer service desk in Mesa, AZ. I worked there when I was 16, and I got paid $6.75/hr. That was more than what most of my friends were paid for where they working at that time during high school.

Retail (Claire's as Third Key) was my first job. I couldn't do that as a living, just not for me.
Financial assistant (input payments into computer, process and batch credit card payments) for 1.5 years. Day care subsitute teacher, for 9 months. Indexer for 5 months. At this job for going on three years. (I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess.) |
