Just about every one of my female friend's has something about Phelps in their Facebook status. Ok and me too :) Almost as funny as the day after a certain GossipGirl episode and the "I'm Chuck Bass" statuses all over the place.

ASTalumna06 08-13-2008 09:58 AM

So I finally found out why Michael was so upset after the 200-meter fly last night. He threw off his goggles so fast because they were leaking and filled with water.

Yeah I heard that this morning.

I'm convinced that the man is part dolphin. LOL.

WhiteDaisy128 08-13-2008 05:02 PM

Kid can swim for sure.

The whole underage DUI totally turns me off about him though.

ASTalumna06 08-13-2008 05:08 PM

Yea, but that also happened 4 years ago. He was what.. 19? Is it a huge mistake? yea, but he's obviously learned from that. S*** happens.

Benzgirl 08-13-2008 05:34 PM

Tonight I get sleep....no finals.

Yeah, drinking under age? Okay, lot's of college kids do it. But getting in a car and driving is just stupid. Maybe I'm biased because I don't drink at all...

Yea, I am feeling the same way!

ASTalumna06 08-14-2008 08:59 AM

Yes, driving drunk is stupid. But again, happened once 4 years ago. I've done some pretty stupid things in my life also (I'm sure we all have), but I'd hope that people wouldn't dismiss me completely because of them.

My feeling is that everyone is allowed one mistake, and hopefully they learn a lesson from it. If he has another, I have an issue with that.

Off topic: I think the same for marriages (one divorce is all you should be able to have); serial brides should be banned

1:54:23 in the 200 IM and another gold. =)

piphiangel314 08-15-2008 03:37 AM

You know something is wrong when you completely ignore your boyfriend's phone call because Michael Phelps is racing.

Immediately after I started breathing again, I called him back. :)

So bad.

pbear19 08-15-2008 10:15 PM

I could watch that 50 more times and still not believe it! Unreal.

Benzgirl 08-15-2008 10:19 PM

Unbelievable!!! I can't believe he pulled it out in the last half-stroke.

nittanyalum 08-15-2008 10:24 PM

I'm convinced whoever said that guy is part-dolphin must be right.

I still can't watch him talk, though.

chitownxo 08-15-2008 10:25 PM

Wow. Just wow. He's amazing.

I loved his mom's reaction in the stands, too. The look of utter shock when she realized he won was priceless.

Benzgirl 08-15-2008 10:38 PM

Cavic's coach has filed a protest. Hmmmm.

KSUViolet06 08-15-2008 10:44 PM

I have DVR, and I replayed the ending at least 10 times. Wow.

His mom's reaction was priceless. Even SHE couldn't believe it.

I'm waiting for them to explain that... It's not like a judge eyeballed it and decided Phelps touched the mat first. It's weird.

Benzgirl 08-15-2008 10:52 PM

For those who don't have TIVO or DVR, here is the replay... http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/pla...elcode=sportsw

Mike Bottom didn't get his way. Interesting that Bottom will be coaching at U of M next year, where Phelps is a graduate.

RedefinedDiva 08-16-2008 12:00 AM

I want to have his babies.

LucyKKG 08-16-2008 03:38 AM

They showed the replay from 3 or 4 different angles. Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy!

Have my babies?

lilzetakitten 08-16-2008 12:33 PM

It was so intense. I couldn't imagine trying to visually figure out who won. AOL has it slowed down to frame by frame (one ten-thousandth of a second) and I still wasn't sure. But even at that speed Phelps was a blur!

pbear19 08-16-2008 12:59 PM

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mul...content.1.html

SI's got some decent pictures of it.

Maybe Phelps just used his superpowers to temporarily turn the water to gel around Cavic. ;) It's weird how he just looks like he was in slow motion, reaching for the wall but not getting there. Picture #6 in the above link is a really interesting shot.

Benzgirl 08-16-2008 01:06 PM

^^^^Miracle Finish indeed. Those are some awesome pictures. I didn't know there were windows on the bottom of the pool to shoot photos like that

piphiangel314 08-16-2008 01:16 PM

I was working a baseball game last night, and when he won we announced it and the ENTIRE stadium just ERUPTED into applause. It was absolutely amazing.

I don't think there's windows on the bottom of the pool. I think the pics may be stills from a Mobycam.

Never knew about Mobycam. Good info. I was beginning to think the Chinese figured something else out before us.

I love those guys!

Benzgirl 08-16-2008 11:41 PM

As much as I dislike the Baltimore Ravens, it was pretty cool what they did.

Ravens Fans Watch Phelps Make History

Hundreds of fans stayed at M&T Bank Stadium after Saturday's preseason game between the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings to watch Phelps compete. A unique agreement between the Ravens and NBC allowed the team to air Phelps’ final race on the stadium SmartVision boards

sunnyhibiscus 08-16-2008 11:47 PM

Yeah, baby, yeah!!!

LucyKKG 08-17-2008 02:22 AM

He did it again!!!!!!!! My mom and I were going nuts cheering. Yayyyy! I totally avoided looking at this part of GC before watching because I KNEW it would be talked about here!

LucyKKG 08-17-2008 02:56 AM

And he teared up a little during the medal ceremony. Awwww!

pinksirfidel 08-17-2008 02:14 PM

The guy is amazing! Period. Is he single? Lol ;)

Benzgirl 08-17-2008 03:09 PM

I think NBC needs to pay Michael Phelps a bonus. From what I read, NBC stated their ratings were never this high during the post-primetime spot. I guess I'm not the only one who didn't get sleep this week

You're definitely not. My mom usually goes to be pretty early (9-ish) but she stayed up til past 11 watching our boy last night.

KSUViolet06 08-17-2008 04:33 PM

I LOLed a bit when they started doing a little countdown thing at the bottom of the screen during other sports saying "Michael Phelps in 9 minutes."
