UCLA Greek System
 

The Greek System at UCLA is large but does not compose a large percentage of the university as a whole. It has approximately 2000-2500 members divided b/w the fraternities and soroities. There are 11 NPC sororities (GFB recolonized in Spring of 2000) and I believe AXO is recolonizing in Spring 2002 (although I heard that this might have been postponed). When I was in school there were 21 fraternities, but that number shifts from year to year. Total has held steady at 115 since my freshman year when it was reduced from 130. When I went through rush there were 13 sororities on campus, but Sigma Kappa, Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Chi Omega closed during my 4 years on campus. Currently, the NPC groups represented are (in alphabetical order):

Delta Gamma
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi

When my parents were in school at UCLA (yes, I am a major Bruin leg), there were 21 sororities on campus and I don't know how many fraternities there were. My mom was an Alpha Gam and my dad was independent. It was the 60's and the chapters were small in size back then.

Hey guys...just wanted to mention how our sisters at GW did. My chapter from George Mason went up to help them at their Preference since they never had done an Ivy Ceremony before. On their Bid Day, they ended up getting 65 awesome new members. I'm so proud of them since other fraternities are already talking about how awesome they are and they've only been a chapter for four days.

My best friend and A-Phi sister was at the recruitment events last week at George Washington. She said the quality of women who attended these parties was truly impressive. Congrats to the GW colony! :)

University of Colorado --Boulder
 

I noticed it was mentioned about university of colorado, but no numbers! I am a senior there....we got quota +3 (58) then a few snap bids also! We actually came out top house on campus (a HUGE deal for this chapter)!

Initiation was last week...47 girls initiated that night, several couldnt make it so they were (or will be) initiated this week! It just feels so good to see how far the chapter has come since I rushed!

I'm an alum of Beta Gamma deuteron. I pledged in '94, the last time our chapter made quota. '95 was a good rush year with lots of wonderful girls pledging including a future Panhel President. We didn't make quota but practically no one did that year. '96, as you may have heard, was the year it all fell apart. Rush was horrible, our skit was horrible, our organization was EXTREMELY lacking, and return results were a nightmare. I guess it's been a huge rebuilding process since then. Anyway, I was so incredibly excited to hear about rush this year and how well you guys did. Congratulations on all of your hard work!! I'm so proud of all of you and what you've done to save that chapter. Also, welcome to Greekchat. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.
