For ours, the district conventions will usually have a show; that winner goes to the regional in the spring, and then for the general convention we'll have one team from each of the five regions. I never go, kinda hate step shows lol |

I don't know. I never thought about it or asked anyone. |

Is this their show on youtube ALREADY? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x12Nhtevy2M |

My Sororfriends had a great time and hopefully brought me some stuff back. They called to tease me because I am usually at Conventions. :( |

Heck, My MOM (Delta) got more from her AKA friends who went to their centennial than I did! I got butkis! This is the year of snubbing Senusret! |
Quote:
I hope that's not all I'm going to get. :( |

However, I did once call my mom when I happened upon a neophyte presentation pretty late in the evening, woke her up, and made her listen to y'all's sweetheart song. :) She didn't cuss me out too bad for waking her up. |

Sorors, I am so glad that Convention seemed to go well this year. I couldn't go, but my sands called me the other day, asking me about what I wanted. I think they were in the vendor area then. I will hear from them later on this week.
As far as calling me to mess with me, they knew I couldn't take it. It's not my fault I'm a poor graduate student! (But once I'm Dr. DarkEnglish, it's gonna be ON for 2010 and Centennial!) |

Meshelle was FUNNY!! I will be asking every new dude I meet if he has direct deposit. LOL!!! |

LOLOLOL....I forgot about "direct deposit" HILARIOUS! Shoot I might add on 401K too ;)! That poor DJ is sure to have a complex now...LOLOL! This is the link to Soror Meshelle...http://www.meshelle.net/ |

And when he couldn't pick a good song for the Eastern Region...OMG I was about to die at Meshelle's comments, lol. Thank God on the 3rd try he played To Be Real. Lord bless the child. |
Man, I didn't think it could get any brighter, but that trip just intensified my neo glow exponentially!

Sorors Velocity, LG and others who attended the covention: Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet ya'll. Hopefully we will get together soon or in New Orleans. I don't know if I was the only one, but I was disappointed in the vendors. I was hoping to come back with a lot of nice stuff, but only left with a few shirts, a jogging suit and a journal set. I bought more books than para! But I did get to meet a lot of people! Met Brian McKnight at the Mall at Millinum (sp). Also met Hill Harper, Rae Lewis Thorton, Victoria Christoper Murrary, Paula Giddings (author of In Search of Sisterhood), Lawrence Ross (DivineNine for all of you old school GCs) and Walter Kimborugh (Black Greek 101). I also saw E. Lynn Harris again (met him two years ago). Thelma from Good Times was also there, but she wanted $10 to take a picture with her after you bought her book. |
Yes! That DJ just couldn't seem to get it right...bless his heart. LOL

I had a really great experience at this 49th National Convention...I must say at times all you could see anywhere was red and white....This convention really made me understand what my prophytes always say...."Delta is a business...and in order for business to be taken care of...someone must be willing to work".
I must say that I almost lost my mind in the trade show...but I will never forget when that dude proposed to my lovely Soror (brought tears to my eyes)...!!!! |

She's still gorgeous. LOL @ the web address. I didn't know her name and Googled "thelma from good times." |
She looks the same. But when I tried to take a picture of her, her people were saying "no pictures!" And it had to be with their camera. I was like . I think they let people take pictures with her on the last day. I was LOL at the web address and the Myspace link too (which also had the Thelma from Good Times link).
The Alpha who proposed to the soror at the step show: I LOL when he proposed to the APA/DST plate instead of the engagement ring! |
He had an APA/DST plate instead on engagement ring? LOL. Was that part of the show?
I would rather not be proposed to at a step show and I'd rather have a ring than a plate. That's just me, though. :p |

But I still would rather not be proposed to in such a setting. |
He might have already had the ring, but we didn't see it. Oh, did I mention that the soror who was proposed to had a bun in the oven?
|
Congrats Soror. :)

I had a number of "Wow" moments during the public meeting also. Why am I STILL not completely unpacked? |
