I have this feeling that my answers won't come as any big surprise: Phi Mu Pink and Azure (Robin's Egg) Blue have always been my favorite colors - had Phi Mu been on my campus, I would have been hysterical! I'm falling back on t*p's list, because it's basically mine, too: * They are our Magnolia sisters! * Their philanthropy is awesome! * I love, love, love pink! * I love that Sir Fidel and Alphie are like best friends! http://www.rlcurtis.com/ADPi/images/symbol4.gif * The blinged out Phi Mu badge is awesome! (and I love the shape & style) * I like their selection of sorority jewelry! * "To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand." is the first line of their creed and I tend to volunteer and help others when I can. * Plus, the historical angle really did/does mean a lot to me. Pi Beta Phi * I love, love, love their philanthropy! * I love their Arrow pin, and the 12 links representing each founder - how cool! I also love that it's properly worn at a bit of an angle. * Angels! * One of the girls at my high school became a Pi Phi, and I had always thought that she was the model of a "sorority woman". And lastly Kappa Kappa Gamma * I love their colors & the meanings - my room at my mother's house still has sky blue walls and an ocean blue rug - with a wall of keys! * Their philanthropy, * Their pin, that lovely Key of Gold! * I would have been sharing this with my late grandmother, whom everyone says that I am identical to. Believe it or not, I have irises in my yard! I also felt a tug to Alpha Xi Delta, just from their pin. One of my best friends in DAR is an Alpha Xi Delta - I keep daring her to wear her Quill on her DAR insignia! |
Wow. Hard one!
DPhiE comes first to mind, because if I didn't rush at my old school and I rushed up here, I'm pretty sure that is where I would have wound up. ASA, because I love how they are involved in the Special Olympics. Tri-Sig for the simple fact that I love their colors. ZTA has a lot that I like from the colors/symblos to the philanthropy Kappa Delta because they share a philanthropy with SDT (Prevent Child Abuse America). |
I think I would pick:
DG *I like the whole nautical thing Tri Delta *I think the three deltas together look so pretty Almost forgot- Pi Beta Phi One of my only good friends from high school to also join a sorority is a pi phi and it would be cool if we were sisters |
Well Alpha Chi Omega was the first sorority I ever wanted to join when I really understood what sororities were.
Pi Beta Phi is another top choice because of their colors, philanthropies, badge, and I have seen some amazing chapters. I cannot forget Kappa Kappa Gamma, because I just love their colors and symbols. |
I would have to say Chi Omega, Pi Beta Phi, or Kappa Delta.
|
I'd pick Kappa Kappa Gamma, or Kappa Alpha Theta.
Kappa because my mother is one and I loved reading the magazine when I was younger. Most of the girls who went to my high school became Kappas in various places too. Theta because I almost joined at UPS and most of my best friends and my great aunts are Thetas and love it. I also think both organizations have very classy philanthropies and I've never met a Kappa or Theta I didn't like! |
I think it would be between two houses:
Kappa Delta: I've been a Girl Scout for 18 years, so their philanthropy really has a central place in my heart. I also love their colors. I mean there's just something so classy about green and white. I love it. Chi Omega: I've always been struck with the sense of tradition and pride in this house nationally (based on their national website) and through looking at the chapter websites just browsing around. I also love the Chi O badge. I mean I love the monogrammed look, and the X and the omega really compliment each other. I've got to say though, that Theta always was and always will be my home. |
I had to think, but I can narrow it down to either Delta Gamma or Alpha Phi.
Delta Gamma - I liked Anchor Splash, ships and Raggedy Ann/Andy dolls (childhood memories). I think that any philanthrophy concerned with the blind such as theirs is truly worthwhile. I like pink and blue. Also, their letters DG correspond to the motto - Do Good. Mainly, though, I just like the personalities of the girls/members that I have met through the years. Recently I met a Mizzou DG undergrad who was really fun and impressed me. She reminded me of my DG friends. Alpha Phi - my best friend and a second cousin were Alpha Phi's. Also, Lady Bird Johnson turned down an Alpha Phi bid because her family did not want her to be Greek (I read this in a book on her). These girls have such courage and grace, and I like the symbols- the bear, the ivy, and two beautiful flowers- the forget-me-not and the lily of the valley. They remind me of Spring, my favorite time of the year. Also, their national headquarters is in Evanston, a close Chicago suburb. But my love is with my own Pi Beta Phi. :) |
ADPi because my niece is one and I'd love to share it with her ..or..
Delta Gamma because my sil is one. Chi Omega - very strong nationally Phi Mu - Georgia-born and I've been to their beautiful HQ. KKG - just cause |
I just LOVE Gamma Phi Beta and cannot imagine being anything else but if you insist, there are three "other" GLO's I'd consider ---
Kappa Alpha Theta - because my biological sister is one and I like what I have learned about them through her, plus when I rushed at USC back in 1974, my best friend was in Theta and I really wanted to be one (sadly, my being in ROTC was hard for all but 4 sororities to overlook at that time) Phi Mu - I have grown to know and love Phi Mu because they are right here in Peachtree City - their HQtrs building is beautiful and I love looking at all their neat, historical decorations. They have an outstanding bond and are awesome Panhellenic supporters! Chi Omega - I never gave them much of a chance at USC because they were smaller (their chapter is not there any more) but I was young and did not understand then what a strong sisterhood Chi Omega has. I am impressed by all the Chi Omega's I have met since becoming an alum. |
I was torn between three groups even though we only went to two for our final round:
1) Delta Gamma, which was obviously my final choice...I really liked all of the women that I met during recruitment - they were all very nice and down to earth and everytime I stepped into that house, it felt like home to me. I also cried during pref and when I was talking to my Rho Gam about it, they mentioned that that was a sign...so I chose Delta Gamma and in turn Delta Gamma chose me. I love absolutely EVERYTHING about it - the anchor (our symbol), our colors bronze, pink & blue (pink & blue happen to be two of my favorite colors!!!), our philanthropy (service for sight), our flower the cream colored rose (i want cream colored roses at my wedding! :D) ...just EVERYTHING. 2) Alpha Phi - it was really hard because my roommate my freshman year is an Alpha Phi and she always used to tell me how much fun it was and told me everything about Alpha Phi, but she never ever pressured me into joining which I really liked. She was one of the sweetest girls I have ever met and eventually between then and the time I decided to go through fall recruitment, I already knew a good 75% of their chapter and a lot of them I was really good friends with. I really liked Alpha Phi's philanthropy...cardiac care is an awesome cause :) 3) Kappa Kappa Gamma - like Delta Gamma, I loved the girls and KKG always had a nice atmosphere everytime I was around. The girls were very easy to talk to...however, I realized that Delta Gamma had "something more" (for me). I really liked Kappa's colors and the fleur de lis. Even though I would NEVER EVER EVER have it any other way, has anyone here ever thought about what would it be like if they chose their second or third choice rather than their first? For example I always wonder what it would be like if I chose KKG or Alpha Phi instead of DG, or vice versa, etc. |
Being a jewelry girl, I'd have to say Kappa Alpha Theta - they now have turquoise as an option on their badge and I just love it (www.hjgreek.com) and every Theta I have ever met has been an outstanding woman of character, loyalty and determination.
|
As much as I love being an ADPi, I think I would've loved to have been:
- Zeta Tau Alpha: love their colors, have many ZTA friends - Kappa Delta: I am a Girl Scout (Daisy through Gold Award!), so I really love their philanthropy work. - Kappa Kappa Gamma: love their colors, symbols, etc... - Sigma Kappa: to be honest, there is a joke that I am an honorary SK because I have so many SK friends and I'm always in their house. (which is connected to ours) |
Hmm, I would have to go with these three choices in this order...
1st Delta Gamma- I love the "Do Good" motto, plus the colors and anchor symbol. Plus all the DGs I have ever met are fab. 2nd Delta Delta Delta- My mother's house. I have learned a lot about tri-delta over the years, and I really do like them. Their symbols and triangles are pretty cool as well. 3rd Kappa Kappa Gamma- So I could still be in the Magnificent Monmouth Duo!!! |
mmmmm
Farmville Four Love: KD Just cause: KKG Because of the history: ADPi Cause if Ida Martin Shaw: Tri Delta |
Before I went to college, I thought if I wasn't a Tri Delta, my life would be over. However, I ended up where I truly belonged.
As an alumnae and involved at all different levels for KD, I must say I am very impressed with Kappa Kappa Gamma on a National level. Also, I feel that Chi Omega has done something right when it comes to alumnae involvement on both a community, Panhellenic and Collegiate level. They are truly awe-inspiring. |
I think i would have gone
1) KKG - I love the color and their symbols. or 2) ZTA - I love the crown and their color. The girls know from ZTA are some of the nicest girls I've met. |
i know i am not in a GLO but here goes:
Tri Delta - The girls that i know of that are TriDelts are super sweet. They are a really strong org and they were founded exactly 100 years before i was born [neglecting the time of day] how cool is that? oh and their HQ's are in my state.... like 30 mins from where i live actually. :) Kappa - I Love blue, and i doodle the fleur de lis all the time. Gamma Phi - We used to have a chapter here but it shut down. While i personally don't know any Gamma phi's i love their symbols and colors. |
I would have chosen either Chi Omega or Tri Delta. I know so many wonderful women from these organizations!
|
Tri Delta.
One of my closest and dearest friends is a Tri Delta (no hyphen, as she pointed out, and it drives her nuts). It would be neat to share that with her. |
This is a hard question. Well, if I went only by the 7 sororities at CSULB, if I hadn't gone SK, I would have chosen either Delta Zeta or Tri Delta.
Delta Zeta because I found them extremely friendly, funny, and to be perfectly shallow, IMO, they had the most beautiful house. ;) Tri Delta because I knew many of them from classes and they were fun to hang out with. If I chose out of the 25 remaining GLO's (SK not included), then I would choose Alpha Gamma Delta. I absolutely love the AGD mission statement: Inspire the Woman. Impact the World. |
1. Delta Gamma - It was the other house that I preffed and I loved all of the women I met there. The house was beautiful and being a beach girl, I loved the nautical theme.
2. Pi Beta Phi - Their house was spectacular, I loved all of their songs during rush (silly, I know), the women were very active around campus, and I liked their colors. |
I always thought Kappa Kappa Gamma was awesome... don't know why since I knew nothing about greek life really... guessing it's just 'cuz I read it somewhere. I did think it was cool that A Xi had considered merging with KKG prior to going national.
Kappa Delta since my cousin is a KD and we didn't have a chapter where I went to school. My alma mater has Pi Phi, Theta, and A Phi and all were great choices I think. Chi O, Gamma Phi, and Tri Delta were also there at one point in time as well and are great choices. I love the crown of Zeta Tau Alpha- who wouldn't!!? |
Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta. I knew about both before college and although neither were on my campus I've always been impressed by them.
|
I would probably go Chi O - I believe them to have a strong sisterhood and have a good national reputation. On my campus they were a large chapter, very diverse, and known for good scholarship (and I was a bit of a nerd in h.s.). I don't really care for their colors but I love their badge and that whole dead owl thing has always intrigued me... Plus their letters look cool together!
As for symbols, colors, etc. I would go KD, Pi Phi, or KKG. I love all of their badges and colors and the fleur de lis is so easy to find in jewelry items! |
hmmmm
WELLLLLL if I had to choose, besides my lovely DZ ZTA because of their philanthropy and values :) |
Alpha Chi Omega is obviously my favorite and I would never change, but...
Phi Mu, even though we don't have them on our campus. For some reason, I've always felt a strong connection towards Phi Mu and I love their history, symbols, and values. I also recently found out that our house is the old Phi Mu house! I loved Tri Delta during recruitment... I feel like Tri Delta is a wonderful organization and was the first sorority I ever knew of. I think they are probably the most recognized sorority. Their motto is absolutely beautiful. I also somehow feel a strong connection to ADPi, even though they are not on our campus. I love their motto - probably my favorite of all the NPC groups. But I also love the 7 other NPCs at my school - Chi O, Tri Delta, DG, Gamma Phi, Theta, Kappa, and Pi Phi - and I would have been honored to find my home at any of them. |
I absolutely love being a Pi Phi. I'm still an undergrad active, but I know that this is going to be the best decision I made throughout all of college -- and I'm not nearly done! :D
Since I went COB and was somewhat able to "choose" what sorority recruitment I wanted to take part in... I STRONGLY considered Phi Mu (I went to Pi Phi recruitment the first night and planned on going to Phi Mu the next night... needless to say, I fell instantly in love with Pi Phi!) but I love Phi Mu's motto, their colors, their symbol, and philanthropy. Plus, every Phi Mu on my campus is a total sweetheart, and I had a few friends in there. And if there was a chapter I would have liked Kappa Kappa Gamma. I love their symbols, flower, jewel, colors, etc. Plus, they are the other half of the Monmouth Duo so that adds to it. ;) |
Very good question the OP posed!
I would have to say: Alpha Chi Omega- I love their colors, badge, and symbols! I had many Alpha Chis as close friends during college and they were always classy and one of the most well respected groups on campus. They were also founded at Depauw, and I have always considered them a sister sorority! Kappa Delta- When I first went to college, KD was fairly new on campus, and I quickly became friends with many of the founding sisters. They were wonderful representations of their sisterhood! I also LOVE their colors! Green is my absolute favorite color, and the white rose is my favorite flower. Gamma Phi Beta- There was not a chapter of Gamma Phi at my campus, but my aunt is a proud sister of Gamma Phi Beta. I have always admired these ladies, and gotten to know many of you on GC! Alpha Delta Pi- I love their history, colors, and symbols! Also my other aunt is a proud Alpha Delta Pi! Of course, I will always and forever be a sister of the Black & Gold |
Sigma Kappa would probably win out because my mom was one! I used to love to read the magazine when I was little and pretend I was in a sorority.
Otherwise, Kappa Kappa Gamma! I love their badge, their letters, their symbols, etc. I also really wanted to go Kappa at the other school I was considering before I decided to go to Samford. Tri Delta has my favorite badge of all, so it's another contender. One of my best friends at another school is a tri delt, too. Zeta is runner up... I just love the crowns and strawberries! I loved them during rush too! What a great group of girls. |
My choices:
Phi Mu, because of many of the reasons that Honey and other ADPis have listed, and because I am simply so familiar with them. Also, their chapters do extremely well in just about every Southern campus they are on. Kappa Delta. They truly are "KD ladies" and I had many KD friends in school. Love their Girl Scout work, and again, their Southern chapters are very strong everywhere. (I am SO excited that they were chosen to colonize at Georgia College and State University-they will be a perfect addition to the already very classy and strong Panhellenic group there.) Zeta Tau Alpha. Strong Southern chapters, philanthropy, and yep, gotta love those crowns! (When I was in school, early seventies, I don't remember them doing much with the crowns at all-they were more known for the strawberry thing.) I will also throw in Kappa Kappa Gamma-colors, symbol, strong down South-(and don't we all just love the sound of "Kappa Kappa Gamma"?:D) And Alpha Xi Delta, because of receiving my daughter's Quill here at the house-they seem to have a very different "slant" than ADPi and others I am familiar with. I mean this in a complimentary way, obviously, and I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, nor explain it. But it's all good! |
(repeating my sisters)
If I hadn't gone ADPi and if there was a Phi Mu chapter in AZ, I have a feeling I would have gone Phi Mu. I love everything about Phi Mu. Now imagining myself at 18 based on superficial reasons I would have wanted to have gone the following: Based on their badges: Theta, DG, ZTA, Phi Mu & KD Based on their colors: Gamma Phi, DZ At 18 another huge thing for me was the cost of each chapter, so that would have weighed into my decsions |
How i can join a sorority?
I live in Pennsylvania and i want to join a sorority...How i can join it?

Kappa AlphaTheta - Two of my cousins who I am extremely close to are Thetas, so I grew up around lots of black & gold, kites and pansies =-). I love everything about Theta, and I wonder what would have happened if I had gone to a school with a chapter
Alpha Delta Pi - I love everything about ADPi from the colors to the mascots, the badge to the philanthropy. The girls in the chapter at my school are also some of the sweetest, most amazing girls I've ever met. It would be an honor to call them sister. Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Delta and Delta Gamma are also ones I'd love to pledge, based on superficial resons alone. I love Zeta & KD's hand signs they do in pictures, and or course the colors, symbols and badges of those groups. But, I know without a doubt I was born to be a Kappa Kappa Gamma and I wouldn't trade wearing my golden key for anything! |
Bumping because I like this thread.
|
What a fun thread this has been to read! I'm glad it got a bump. :)
I started college at 17 and didn't really know what a sorority was... I was the first member of my family who lived in Texas to go to college, and I'm pretty sure none of my extended family outside Texas ever went Greek. So basing my answer on being 17, and on the very first sorority member I ever got to know well (who was my RA on my dorm floor that first year and was truly one of the nicest people I met during my college days), I'd have to say that if I'd gone Greek then, I might be a proud sister of Alpha Chi Omega today! My favorite color is red and I was a music major when I started college, so I was drawn to them a bit. :) |
Probably ZTA since that's what my mom was and I love their philanthropy.
|
For reasons of vanity, Theta, because their initials are the same as mine. Seriously, though, I did attend their presentation to expand on our campus when I was an advisor, and it was head and shoulders above the others we saw, just outstandingly classy. I think they must have been first choice on all the ballots as we voted among five groups.
Maybe also ZTA as a fellow Farmville Four. They seem quite a bit like KD. But they all sound great, except for one that I have reservations about. I know that's not in the Panhellenic spirit, but it's for a good reason. |
If I had known at 18 that my grandmother was in a sorority (she was hospitalized when I entered college and died at winter break my freshman year), I would have wanted to join an AXO chapter to share that bond with her.
AXOs four values are strong and although I never got the musical gene from that side of the family, I do look good in red! |
