I'm sure everyone's famliar with the Blues Brothers. In that movie, there's a song, Minnie the Moocher, that goes "Heidi Heidi Heidi Ho". If you ever watched Home Improvement, Wilson would always say "Heidi Ho good neighbor." Well, my name being Heidi, the inevitable happened. People, my grandfather epecially, started calling me Heidi Ho. I used to hate it, but during high school it became part of my identity.
Heidi btw-now that I'm initated, I might change my user name to HeidiHoXO, so don't be suprised! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |

Here's a little story as to why I chose the name (Hootie). My chapter has a stuffed owl (not real of course) that towards the end of meeting one sister will pass onto another. We lovingly have named him Hootie...
I can't tell you how many times Hootie has been passed but I think the most memorable time was when one of our sisters decided to give him a bath (in the washing machine)and then put him in the dryer. When she came to meeting the following week she appologized for how he looked, but we all laughed...Hootie now has a little afro! ------------------ Everyone has their day in the sun. *ROFLMAO* about the afro -- I can see him now! My screen name is definitely self-explanatory, but I must apologize to some people who misread it to mean I am "A Chi Omega alum" instead of "Alpha Chi Omega Alum" - I'll continue biting my tongue (fingers?) about past discussions of us all being Chi Omegas...*giggle*giggle* http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ "Alpha Chi Omega - If you only had 2 wishes, what would your second one be?" |
AXO- At the end of every post you make, it says something about Alpha Chi Omega-it's never confused me.

you would think it was a simple answer ...
... but you'd be wrong! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif G8Ralphaxi - I'm an Alpha Xi Delta from the Zeta Omicron Chapter at the University of Florida. Sadly we no longer have an active chapter, for reasons much more complex than anything ever mentioned on this forum, but there are still a lot of us in town. My sisters have given me everything I hoped a sorority would, and I still have a lot of pride for my chapter, regardless of specific unfortunate circumstances. I've also used g8rJD sometimes - I'm a 1st year law student at UF. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I used to use Imerald in high school - my birthstone is the Emerald (May) and my eyes are green - but that screen name is almost always taken, even with the different spelling, and I didn't feel like adding a number on the end. On a few occasions I've used Lorelei (and a number) because I studied a lot of German literature and Heinrich Heine was one of my favorite authors - one of his most famous works was the "Lorelei" poem. Ok, long answer! Trust a law student to take a simple question and make it complicated! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif G8Ralphaxi [This message has been edited by G8Ralphaxi (edited January 29, 2001).] |

I just changed my username. I was kmullini. I thought Miami1839 would suit me better. Miami=Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. 1839=When my fraternity was founded.

Oh, well, I might as well get on the band wagon....
Way back when, my AOL screen name was TraxOLand. You Monty Python gits will know what I'm talking about. Anywho..it attracted too many online weirdos. WAY too many. I collect penguins - have dozens and dozens of 'em. Also, at the time I wanted to change my screen name, I was traveling all over the place for work..making tracks. So, I combined the two. At the time, you could only have 10 letters in your AOL name, hence, PnguinTrax without the 'e'. I chose gizmo because the word has a lot of memories for me from my childhood. When I was around eight years old I was the mascot twirler for my sisters' high school marching band. During that year, they were playing a piece called Gremlin. Since my mother can really sew (she sewed the entire band's uniforms one year) it was decided that it would be great to have a gizmo running around on the field being chased by a bunch of gremlins during that song. It was quite entertaining, believe me.
However, the gizmo doesn't stop there. After having used it for that and for Halloween as well, my family decided that we didn't just want to toss the costume. Afterall, Mom had won the golden thimble award for making it. Well, I also was playing softball at the time and all of the teams (or almost all) in our club were called the Chiefs. So we decided to become the Gizmo Chiefs. Mom made us a banner and we even came up with a way to keep the costume around. We stuffed it with cotton and let a different member of the team take it home each week. Finally, when I became a member of ASK, I had to come up with a question for my sisters to answer. So one of those questions was related to the stories above. It is amusing sometimes though if new members don't know the story, they will think that I like to mess around with various mechanical objects (chemical engineering). So the story has to be told again and again. I keep it around because it is quite unique, especially in my chapter, and also is a great ice breaker from an alum stand point when talking to new candidates and actives. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif OUgizmoASK |

Mine too is pretty self explanatory. gphi = Gamma Phi Beta, my soror, and 2K = 2000, the year I graduated.
my other user name that i use sometimes is madison_gpb. Madison stands for Madison Avenue, the street my chapter house is on, and gpb, is, of course, gamma phi beta. That's it that's all. Leslie ------------------ Gamma Phi Beta University of Toronto Alpha Alpha |
Dare I say the REAL reason????
I was a lurker for a while and then something peeked my interest to post. I was tired of my other on-line persona (Grasshoppah), so I was trying to come up with a cool, somewhat mysterious name. I had a pack of Eclipse gum on my desk....so... it was either Eclipse, water bottle or telephone. I thought Eclipse sounded better! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I started using grasshoppah because a friend called me that in college because I have long legs--like a grasshopper!! |
A bartender at my very first job started calling me Cutie Pie, and once we all became friends, it just stuck. My cell phone says the same http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

My name is pretty simple...FIU because I go to Florida International Univerisy, and I am a Greek Sister.
|
My name comes from my sorority's mascot, the panda bear (it's a service sorority, not AOPi) and the 19 is because I'm getting married on May 19th of this year. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mine is pretty boring/unoriginal - it's my first name, but to make this post semi-interesting, here's how you pronounce it for those who have been tongue-tied/baffled by it - Siobhan (Sha-von), that's the Irish for you http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I chose my handle after my Sorority---Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Then an underscore, no reason, just did it. And Monet is my line name because my Big Sisters and line sisters doubted as to the type of person I am 'cuz of lies other folxs said (The price you pay attending an HBCU). Anyhow, while on line, the ivies had to give their Big Sisters gifts and since I was very limited on funds, I wanted a Big Sister of mine to just feel like she had a nice day. So I painted her this picture: It was a beach setting with palm trees and an ocean, I got a hold of a beach chair with a picnic basket with food. Then I surrounded the picture with pink and green Xmas lights (if y'all were ever on line, you'd know I just had to do this) and a wonderful greeting for her. From that point, I guess she became my Special Big Sister (my specsh). This Big Sister was soooo impressed with me and my painting was sooooo impressionable and I made such a big impression of everybody by the fact that I crossed my line that I was named after Claude Monet, the french impressionist... When my Special Big Sister told me my line name after I crossed, I just about cried because it was the sweetest thing anyone had ever told me! |
This is a fun topic, we should start more threads like these http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Mine is a nickname i've had since high school. I have a fraternal twin brother who physically larger than I am, and the G is the first letter of my last name. |
My name is TaraHopeful because my first name is Tara and i am hopeful to get into an awesome partying, fun-loving sorority! Anybody have any suggestions? e-mail me at woody7254@aol.com

Well, I guess why I chose my name is pretty obvious. I'm a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, I'm obviously a girl, and the number 2 is there because it's my favorite number.
