HAUNTED MANSION!!
followed very closely by Pirates of the Caribbean. My fiance and I live a half-hour's drive from Disneyland, and we're going to have Christmas dinner at the Blue Bayou, that restaurant on Pirates. I am so excited!! |
Carnation,
Just found this thread you started. I LOVE it because we're going to Disney for our honeymoon! I'm taking note of everybody's favorites. |
My fav ride is the Haunted Mansion! :)
BTW, Disney and the Universal theme parks offer many internships in Florida during the summer as well. I'm actually trying to get an internship over at Universal's marketing department for the summer. I'm crossing my fingers!!! |
My fave is gone...
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was THE BEST! I miss it.
Jen |
Okay, I introduced my first daughter, ASLFrose, in another thread this year and I now introduce my third daughter, Ballerina, with her favorite Disney rides! Got to get the other high school senior on GC soon too...:)
|
Well, when I went to Disney World last Christmas some of my favorite rides had changed. I can't say that I have one favorite, so my favorites are the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain(when it's not cold), the Pooh ride(b/c you feel like you're riding in the water and bouncing, etc.), and the Pirates of the Caribbean.:D
|
Would I be the biggest dork alive if I said that my favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom is the people mover? I love that one!
Anyway, I am totally partial to EPCOT. EPCOT and the Museum of Science and Industry (In Chicago) were my two favorite places as a child. I guess it is no shock that I am now an engineering student. |
Welcome Ballerina!!!!!!!:D
|
Have you guys seen the TV ad for Disney World that has the new Aladdin ride? It looks like the Dumbo ride except there are magic carpets on the end of each beam. Looks like fun but I'm sure it'll be as slow-loading as Dumbo.:(
We get Disney TV ads in Georgia all the time, especially in the winter. Do any of you get them out of the South? |
I have always loved the Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean (with the adjoining restaurant the Blue Bayou), and the Haunted Mansion. My whole family is crazy about Star Tours too. Actually, I love every ride at Disney!
|
Hands down, my favorite ride is Dumbo. I guess I am still a kid at heart, and remember it being the first ride I went on, the first time I went to Disneyland. Needless to say, now that I live in FL, and frequent Disney World, I drag all of my friends to stand in the 2 hour line full of screaming children. The best time however, was during Grad Night, and a group of 20 of us walked right up and got on, because of course there were no kids in line.
As for my least favorite ride...I refuse to go on the Pirates of the Carribbean, because one time my family got stuck on it, FOR 2 HOURS! We were right by an emergency exit, yet they made us wait until these poor employees had to get in the water and push the boats to a "safer unloading area," which was about 10 feet from where we were. All they did for compensation was give us one pass to get to the head of a line. I was a little peeved, because these friends of ours had complained because Space Mountain was broken down on the day that they went, and their whole family got a pass to get to the head of every line for the whole rest of the day. Oh well, it was better than nothing, but I still can't stand to listen to "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me..." After 2 hours, it got pretty bad! |
My favorite ride is the Rockin Roller Coaster. By the way, that was my very first roller coaster ever! I almost backed out but im glad i didnt. Its just that from 0-60mph in about 3 seconds is kind of a scary thought. Since i rode Rockin Roller Coaster first, i thought i could handle anything the next day, so i got on space mountain. I HATED that ride. I think i was in the back and i felt like i was about to fly out of the seat! So i didnt feel secure and i hated those unexpected drops! Yeah i know they werent big drops but i didnt like them. It was horrible because i wanted them to stop the ride so bad and couldnt do a thing about, VERY scary!
Another favorite is Big Thunder Mountain, i think thats what its called, its so FUN :D |
I love Space Mountain!!! I was a little apprehensive about getting on the ride at the beginning, but I quickly overcame my fears and got on! It was totally awesome!!!
|
Okay, I need Disney. Some nasty bulldozers just chewed up the golf course and forest behind my house in order to put in some crappy duplexes. Someone tell me--is there anything new this year?
|
Welcome Ballerina :)
I love Disney, and am about to move to Orlando (someone told me I will be like a mouse in a cheese factory...). Anyway, my favorite was also Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but it is gone. Now I have to say probably Tower of Terror or Speed Track. I haven't ridden Pooh or Alladin yet, but can't wait. I also LOVE Dumbo :D |
Yippee!!!
I'm going to Disneyland soon!!! Yayyyy!!!! :D :D
I can't wait for Matterhorn Mountain (the best!!), Big Thunder, Dumbo, Autopia, Rockets, etc. etc.!! Can you tell I'm a total kid at heart? ;) :D |
ASLFrose is at Disney today, boo on her, and I forgot to ask her to watch out for this:
Does anyone know if when the Aladdin ride was put up, the lame Aladdin emphasis was taken back out of the Tiki Room? That bit with Iago breaking in on the show really sucks. |
my fav disney ride is at MGM....the Rockin Roller Coaster!
|
YEAH! I think we're going to Disney World in May! Does anybody know of any new rides or attractions?

I have heard mixed reports on Mission: Space (abbreviated M:S on there so you'll know). Some say that they can ride anything and this ride caused them to be sick - very sick. Others say that its pretty fun the first time, but not to ride again. I have ridden everything at Disney now (even RnRC if you can believe it!) except for the Primeval Whirl in AK (a spinny ride) and M:S. I will not ride either I don't think. I can't go in circles very well, and being sick at WDW isn't my thing. WHY DON'T YOU GO IN APRIL? We are going the last week and I'd love to catch up with you ;) I am counting the days to go - I could live at WDW - even being a trash collector, I would still love it. There is just something about that place :D |
heard on the radio yesterday that there is a new "ride" at typhoon lagoon, which is one of the water parks. it was called a ride, but i wonder if they were using the term loosely and it was perhaps a new water slide. we may be going in april and i will let you know.
|
We're going in October...We aren't going to the Magic Kingdom this time around...Too tame!
We are going to the non-Disney "ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE"!!! YES! I need some adrenaline-pumping action...and MK doesn't have enough of that...:D :D I've never been to MGM Studios, so we'll go there...MAYBE Animal Kingdom, not sure yet... |
I used to really like the "flying Dumbos" when my kids were just little folks.
Now, of course, they'd rather go to Cedar Point and ride all the big coasters. |
I think I'll always love the spinning teacups :D

And about the new ride at Typhoon Lagoon -- yes, it is a "water coaster" which means that it is a slide, but the speed, twists, and turns, are enough to label it as a coaster. LOL at you questioning it as a ride -- everything on Intercot is classified as "a ride" -- whether its a moving ride, a movie at EPCOT, a parade -- LOL! Kinda like us Southerners calling it a "Coke" regardless of its "real" name (Pepsi, Mello Yello, Sprite, etc.) |

My Favorites: 1) Peter Pan's Flight 2) Haunted Mansion Holidays 3) Space Mountain (however, DL has had it closed for over a year...I can't wait until they open it again!!!) 4) Matterhorn 5) Alice in Wonderland 6) Pirates of the Caribbean!!! |
My favorite ride is the original Journey into Imagination. Since they took that away, I'll go with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
I'm also a sucker for the Carousel of Progress and the PeopleMover... |
I'm a premium annual passholder at Disneyland and an avowed Disneyholic that doesn't want treatment it.
My favorite rides at Disneyland Resort are (not necessarily in order): Pirates of the Caribbean - this was always the first ride we went on Soarin over California - this may be my new all-time favorite Space Mountain - can't wait for it to reopen Disneyland Railroad - this has to do with childhood memories. We always road the train as our last ride of the night before we would leave. I can't wait until May. I graduate with my Master's on the 20th and then I fly to Orlando on the 24th as a present to myself. It's been 15 years since i was last there. I want to see Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, and all the resort hotels. the only bad part is that none of my friends could get time off so i'm going by myself. If any one will be there at the same time and want to meet up just pm me. Carolyn |
If anyone is a true Disney conissuier it is ME! I am a premiumun passholder i use to live at the park when i was living in Glendora ( 40 minute drive) now i go at least 2 times a month. I go at least every other yr to walt disney world and am very excited to see Eisner OUSTED !
I Love Priates and I love space mtn. I have my disney credit card ,my disney yrly pass, i get the disney catalog and spend to much money in it, i religiously read any and all disney books and disney magazine. I buy any disney i truly must have on ebay...i have collected so many lanyards of pins to trade not even funny......and if that isnt bad i go to disneyana every yr it is in anahiem. I am a huge tink fan snow white fan and MICKEY IS THE MAN! You got to be raised so calif or floridian to have a true passion for disney .......and as for cal;if adventure goes......its ok i do love tower of terror BUT nothing compares to the orginal DISNEYLAND! |

I live several hours away, but go at least once a year - usually twice a year. In 06, I am planning on the 3 times a charm :D And guess what phisigduchesscv.... they are doing the soft opening of SOARIN' at WDW right now!! So it will be open when you get there! You won't have to miss a thing :D |
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!!
love it! i also love space mountain (scared the crap outta me as a kid when there were no safety bars) and buzz lightyear. i recently registered for the disney half marathon, so i'll be going in janurary- and i am very excited! |
I was getting kinda lonely because no one had mentioned Star Tours. And then I looked at the age of the thread and then checked the first page, and someone else likes it too. :) YAY!
As a kid, I HATED going on roller coasters. I still do actually. So going on rides like Dumbo, the Tea Cups and Small World were my thing. I also haven't been to DL in YEARS and had no idea they closed Mr. Toads. That was a classic ride. Let's see: I liked Peter Pan's Flight because flying over the city in the ship is the coolest thing ever. Matterhorn is my new favorite ride. I can't wait for Autotopia again. I loved that ride as a kid and then I heard they were redoing it and haven't been back since. And it's not really a ride... but hello. THE TIKI ROOM!!! There is a song you'll never get out of your head. But it's so funny and cheesy you have to love it. I also liked Fantasmic when it was there. I know, it's a show but it was still really neat to see over and over again. I think my boyfriend and I are heading down there in May so hopefully I get to see all the cool stuff they've added. Is Space Mountain open yet? With the 50 year anniversary, you'd think it would be open by then. (*I'm completely out of tune with Disney stuff, so ya'll have to clue me in*) |
Oh what a fun thread since I was just at Disneyland and California Adventure last week. :)
Hmm my favorite rides.... Space Mountain (I wish they would hurry and reopen it already) Star Tours (I have always loved this ride, I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan) Pirates of the Caribbean (okay sing along. "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me") The Haunted Mansion (I love the part where you see the ghost sitting with you) Big Thunder Railroad (I will always love this ride) The Hollywood Tower of Terror (this ride is AWESOME!!!!!) California Screamin' (I'm just a huge roller coaster fan) and just because... Tea Cups (come on it's fun to be a kid every once and a while) |

when are you going to be at Disneyworld? I'm going at the end of May. Maybe we can have a mini Greekchat get together.? Carolyn |

I think ChiDeltJen was asking if Space mountain would be open when she's here in May. Unfortunately no, it will open up on July 15th just in time for the acutally 50th anniversary. Also, be aware that if you are planning to go to DL the first week of May that Disneyland Park will be closed on May 4th in order to prep it for the big 50th anniversary opening celebrations. For all the Disneyland and Disneyworld fans out there check out www.mouseplanet.com They have the best updates about Disney each week and what is going on at the parks etc. Carolyn |
Thanks for the mouseplanet link, my husband will get hooked on that site! I had no idea that Small World had been closed and I hope they didn't crap it up when they refurbished it like they did the Tiki Room and World of Energy and the Land.
Does anybody know what Soarin' and the Lilo and Stitch ride are like? |
My best friends husband works at Disneyland & has warned me about rides to avoid. He's one of the mechanical engineers on the rides (mostly Fantasyland but does other areas too) so I know to avoid the little Dumbo elephants & as much as I love Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it's just not safe.

As for Soarin', if it's like the DCA version it's great. The builiding is kind of a dome shape inside - a lot like a planetarium. It's a simulated hanggliding ride that stimulates you through visual, feeling (cold, etc), and smell. There are three 'gliders' with about 3 or 4 rows of seats each. You walk in and sit in one of the seats then are strapped in. If you are wearing flipflops they ask that you take them off and leave them on the floor. Once everyone is secure the ride starts and you are raised up about 30-40 feet in the air. (not a ride for those afraid of heights). Meanwhile on the walls/screen you are watching various scenes of California. You get the sense that you are really hanggliding along. When you fly over the river/coastal redwood area you feel cool air and kind of have a fresh foresty smell and will even hear a fisherman asking if "you caught anything". There's an area where you fly over orange groves you get a whiff of oranges. Keep an eye on the Yosemite scenes, on the side of Half Dome you'll see some mountain climbers. It's a great ride. I can't remember if it will be open at DW by the time i'm there at the end of May. I hope so, then I can compare it and see how it is. Carolyn |
