I didn't *meet* Theo from Road Rules, but I saw him walking by the DKE house one day at LSU.
He used to write a column for the Reveille, our paper. But it got pulled after awhile. It was stupid, or "muy stupido" for our Latin American friends...all the LSU tigers out there will know what I'm talking about http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |

Juniorgrrl--
I know exactly what you're talking about. LOL. No disrespect to the boy but he's an IDIOT. He came up to one of my sorority sisters and I in the rec to tell us that he liked our handbags. Can we all say LAME????? I didn't even realize that Theo's column was gone. I quit reading it after about the first couple of weeks. Homeboy just gave us a bad rep while he was on the show. |
I think Theo got pulled because the general student body was about to revolt. His column topics included stuff like "I had a party last weekend and someone stole my Tony Sachere's," or "Girls who have been shacking and you see going home early in rumpled clothes"
In every column however, he had one phrase translated into spanish and said "for my latin american friends." It just wasn't funny after the first time. TigerGirl - LOL. What kind of bag was it? Was it at least a Kate Spade http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
When I was in high school our basketball team played Koby Bryant's school (Lower or Upper Marion, I forget which) I hope I spelled all of that right. Got his autograph then...kind of funny to see him play in the NBA now.
|
Juniorgrrl
Nope the bag wasn't even a Kate Spade. It was just some cheap little bag from The Gap. I would see him around campus and he was always hitting on some poor defenseless girl. I was soooo disappointed to see him representing LSU on RR. He just didn't have the common sense God gave a goose. And I won't even start in on what I thought of the staff at The Reveille after they let him start writing a column. He deserved that column as much as my big toe deserves a column. |
Tigergirl:
LOL. I only saw Theo that one time - all of my classes are in CEBA so I'm totally isolated from the world http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I didn't even know about Theo until last August when I realized that he was from LSU. I even saw the episode of RR were they came to get the pic of Mike and didn't piece it together that he went to school here. BTW - GEAUX TIGERS! WE BEAT TULANE! ONE MORE WIN AND COLLEGE WORLD SERIES, HERE WE COME! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
Juniorgrrl I have to back you up and say GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!! I can't believe we went on to beat Tulane. Just gotta win one more time. I was getting seriously sick to my stomach thinking that we might lose!!!! I guess this kinda goes along with this thread...the relief pitcher for the Tigers (Brian Wilson) sat next to me this past fall in my Comd 2050 class. I helped him with an assignment once too. I feel soooo special. LOL. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!

I've had the pleasure of meeting Colin Powell. He was at my school to receive a honorary doctorate degree back in 98. His sister graduated from my college.

I graduated High School with Zach Thomas, who plays defense for the Miami Dolphins. Actually a great guy. I went to a really small HS, so it was a given that we hung out a few times in school.
Since I live in San Antonio, I bump into the celebs who call SA home. I have seen George Strait at the mall a few times. Madeline Stowe eats at this resturaunt by my house with her family about once a week. (She really is that beautiful in real life and never wears an ounce of makup. A former AOPi Chapter president who is a good friend of mine has an on again, off again relationship with Henry Thomas, aka Elliot from ET. he has a somewhat ok band he plays in around town, and I have partied with him and Becky a few times. I had a couple of beers one time with Tim Duncan. We were at this college bar across from campus, and he was there with his girlfriend, who goes to my school. Cute couple. He is actually really funny. I had given her a jump in the parking lot one time not knowing who she was, just being a nice guy, and when I saw her at the bar, she dragged tim over and they bought me a drink and invited me and my friend Beth to sit with them. It was pretty cool. My brush with fame. |
ok, most of these brushes with fame don't even involve me directly, but i thought i'd tell them anyway. One of my best HS buddies almost got burnt by John Mellencamp's cigarette. His wife went shopping with my other HS best friends mom one day. Both had their kids. Actually they just met at some store in the mall and started talking about their kids, and then hung out for a while.
Richard Chamberlain's (actor, was in the thornbirds and centennial to name a couple of movies) grandmother lived up the hill from me, but that was way before i was around. my great grandma lived here though. One summer, John Belushi, before he was famous, did summer theatre in the small theatre in my town of 2500. One of my bros dated Sting's niece. She lives/ed in bloomington, IN. Back in the day, when the super bowl shuffle was hip, my dad was at the mall, and some lady asked for his autograph. she thought he was jim mcmahon (sp?) when she read his name on the paper, she asked why he wrote that, and he said, "you wanted my autograph right?" she wasn't too happy http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Steve Corbin Lambda Chi Alpha Theta Kappa Chapter Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech. |

Tigergirl--Who knows, the Tigers may end up playing Stanford!! (My local team, sorta. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif) Are there any cute baseball players on the LSU team? hehe http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
I forgot to mention that Mr. Matt Damon was in line behind me at Luby's Cafeteria "to-go" window last Spring. He was in SA filming All the Pretty Horses and lived in an apt complex about 10 minutes from my house. I didnt even realize who it was, I mean who goes to Luby's expecting to see Matt Damon? I dropped my wallet and he picked it up. Wasnt that nice? I shoulda offered to take him out drinking or something, bet he didnt know anybody here. Plus how PHAT would it be to chill wit him? I mean to be all, "yah, last weekend sucked. Matt and I couldnt find anyplace that was happening." To which my friends would respond, "Matt who?" and I'd be like "Matt Damon thank you very much." And then they wouldnt believe me till I took out the picts and then I'd look like a stalker. maybe its a good thing I just played it cool.

I was looking through my HS graduation pictures the other day...and I forgot to mention that our commencement keynote speaker was the Queen of SCHA-WINGGGG...Tia Carrere. Tia (born Althea Rae Janairo) graduated from my high school (an all-girls' Catholic school) wayyyyy back when in 1984 http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif and was invited to speak.
She made the ceremony enjoyable, and I could tell the male teachers enjoyed looking at her. Afterwards we all got the chance to take pictures with her. I still have my graduation cap with her autograph! ------------------ "I don't know the secret to success, but one sure way to failure is to try and please everyone."--Bill Cosby Visit Alpha Gamma Delta-Delta Sigma chapter and help some sisters out! |
The movie "The Insider" is about Jeff Wigand, well he was my Chemistry teacher in high school. Other than that, I have met some country music stars and some local celebrities in Louisville, KY. There aren't many famous people in these parts. I have met the entire cast of Miss Saigon and Les Miserable though.

About twelve years ago, I saw Meryl Streep. In fact, I saw her act in a scene for a movie. I think it was "Postcards from the Edge". After the movie came out I went to see it. It was dissapointing because that scene had been cut. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif During the same trip to Los Angeles I saw Rob Reiner. "Meathead" from "All in the Family". This really dates myself. Anyway, I've also seen and met a Miss America. I had lunch with her and my picture taken with her. I cant remember what year it was (early- mid '90's), but it was Heather Whitestone. More recently,a couple of weeks ago, I saw Tiger Woods. Would you believe on a golf course?! This was just after his win at The Masters. These have been my brush with fame!

I work with somebody famous - and the Canadians on this board will know who I'm talking about. I work with and know quite well Justin Trudeau, son of the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Since his father's passing he has become quite the Canadian Celebrity and even before PET passed on, Justin was considered one of Canada's top ten most eligible bachelors http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif.

There are a lot of celebrities in Vancouver that I have seen, but not actually met (I don't like to approach them, lest they freak out!):
Yasmeen Bleeth Denise Richards Josh Hartnett (of Pearl Harbor fame) Gil Bellows (Billy from Ally MacBeal) Kevin Kline Dennis Miller Molly Shannon The guy who played David Silver's father on 90210 Henry Wrinkler Lyndsey Wagner |
I've had the pleasure to meet our famous Alumni Paul Newman. He was a great guy. Him and some other Phi Taus were working with some children getting ready for camp, it was the the paint the turtle camp. It was a huge turnout...also Martha Stewart was there, and there was talk about her being a Delta Zeta..dont know for sure though!!

How can I forget, they were shooting The Basketball Dairies way back when Mark Wahlberg was still Marky Mark. Well, I was one of the extras (during one of the basketball scene, I'm in the crowd all the way in the back next to a fat kid) During lunch break, Leonardo DiCaprio and Marky mark hung out and this one girl gave Marky Mark her thong.

Okay, don't everyone laugh at once but a while back when he used to play for the Pistons, I met John Sally at a K-mart buying toilet paper. I also met Prince a while back when he was still "the artist"
|
Hmmm, let me think, I've actually met quite a few...
Danny Glover at my college graduation... Johnnie Cochran in law school... Mayors Rudolph Guiliani and Ed Koch Garry Shandling in Hermosa Beach Chris Issak at a Springsteen concert Charlton Heston in an airport (which was pretty random: "oh, here's my luggage...oh, there's Moses.") I don't know if this counts as a 'celebrity,' but I met Joe Pistone in law school--he's the real life Donnie Brasco, and the mob still has a price on his head. That was also surreal because my classmates and I had to be patted down, have our purses checked, and there were armed state troopers everywhere! Also, my (ethnic) Greek citizenship would be taken away if I hadn't told you I've met Michael Dukakis, Melina Kanakarides and Costas Mandylor. Whew! I think that's it. ------------------ "To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential. kindness invaluable." |
Hi - I am new to Greekchat and living in the UK, so this is an interesting way to keep in touch with my "Greek" roots....
Anyway, I have met British Prime Minister Tony Blair, also Al Gore and the whole First Family (Clintons) while working at the US Embassy in London - kinda neat, no matter what you think of them politically.... |
I almost forgot, way back in the day, in like 1988, I was at my grandpa's house and the phone rang. I answered it, and then handed it to my grandpa. It was some dude named Michael. It turns out it was Michael Dukakis. My grandpa was pretty big into politics, and knew every democratic candidate for president since Kennedy or something crazy like that. He has pictures of himself and my grandma with Kennedy in the early 60's.

WELCOME UKAXO!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
Hope you like it here as much as we all do!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Oh. I forgot two more. First, (about three years ago) I saw Benjimin Netanyahu. He was a Prime Minister of Israel. I saw him go into a hotel and thought to myself, that looks like PM Netanyahu. A little later I asked at the front desk if it was the PM. The lady there confirmed it.
My dad met Bill Clinton at a special ceramony in the White House. I saw my day dad shake Bill Clinton's hand on CNN. The ceramony was televised live on CNN. |
Thru work... I have met Martha Stewart, Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand (my bosses brother use to date her)and Bill Clinton. Also Ann Richards (former gov. of Texas)
To all the Phi Taus - since Paul Newman is an alum with you and his wife is a Chi O- we should have a big ole party and have them as master of ceremonies!! Ha ha! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
OK, I thought of a few more. Steve Martin was in my hometown in 1992 filming "Leap of Faith" with Deborah Winger and Lucas Haas. Met all of them. When we wouldnt have anything better to do we'd watch them film. We were supposed to be "Rustwater Kansas." And yes, my hometown was about that depressing.
Also, Political stuff aside, I have a pict with "Dubbyah" From a few years back. Like him or loathe him, I gotta pict with a sitting president. Also in 1996, our national convention was held in Dallas at the Fairmont, and so happens in the middle of the conference candidate Bob Dole spent the night there. There was secret service agents EVERYWHERE and you know it was our mission (coming in late having consumed MANY beverages) to sneak onto his floor and knock on his door. We didnt get past the elevators. Needless to say the announcments the next morning at the first workshop were, by our Executive VP, and went something along these lines, "Gentelmen, we are Lambda Chi's. We ALWAYS strive to represent ourselves well. Attempting to wake up the Republican candidate for prseident at 3 o'clock in the morning and harassing the agents charged to his protection because they wont let you change his "do not disturb" sign to the "please make up room" sign is not gentlemenly and will not be tolerated, THANK YOU." God I still laugh about that. Beth those agents were really pleased he was staying at the same hotel with 1000 fraternity men. hahahahahah. Still gives me a chuckle. |
Well all I can add to this is Harry S Truman and Robert Urich both LXA.
I am related to so many Famous People that notority just does not impress me. They all put their jockey shorts on the same. Well maybe some can jump up and put both legs in at once! ------------------ Tom Earp LX Z#1 Pittsburg State U. (Kansas) |

I don't know if any of you remember that MTV Movie ELECTION...well, I was an extra in it. My friend and I were in a hallway scene with like 12 other kids. Chris Klien was doing his part where he stood in the doorway and said something to the extent of HEY MR. M....blah blah blah. Well it's too bad we had NO idea that Chris was the lead or that he'd become such a mega hottie superstar...
So does that count...lol. Otherwise I was in a hotel elevator for this church thing in Chicago my Junior year, when a group of guys got on the elevator with us. I didn't think anything of it, but when my roomie and I got off on our floor she flipped out...evidently Metalica had been standing in the elevator with us. Since I'm not a Metalica fan, I had no clue. Once again...does that count. [This message has been edited by Hootie (edited June 16, 2001).] |
I met Kel Gleason from Survivor the night after Formal. He was in a bar in our town (where he went to school). He was just sitting on a bar stool. So I have a pix of him and me in a black formal dress outside the bar. He has a very nice body, but I still think Colby was better looking.
|
I met Flavor Flav of the rap group "Public Enemy" on an elevator in New Jersey in 1994. He was wearing a clock around his neck and smelled of weed smoke!
Also, I once met Mr. Bose, of Bose speakers. |
When i was a junior in high school I visited my cousins in Las Vegas. Well, one of them was going to college in UCLA so we drove up there to visit her. She is an ADPi, and guess who was hanging out in her kitchen when we arrived? Her sorority sister, Danice McKellar! I recognized her at once and I was like, "Winnie!" (thinking back on it I totally acted so...HIGH SCHOOL! lol) She laughed, but she was really very nice and sweet. Of course, since I grew up watching Wonder Years I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get my pic taken and Danica was only happy to oblige...
I also saw the Stars on Ice tour last year and I got to meet Michelle Kwan--yeah we had to wait around for awhile outside the dressing room, but she was really gracious to all her fans and didn't leave until every last autograph was signed. |
Someone on here needs to meet Edward Norton, so I can live vicariously through you!
I have met Head from Korn....actually, he kissed me. A goood kiss! *g* And the Shop & Save lady...I have no clue what her name is, and most of you probably have no clue who I'm talking about. It's a Pittsburgh area thing! |

A couple years ago I met Tiger Woods in a hotel elevator in Las Vegas! It was pretty cool, he was a very nice guy. I didn't even know it was him until he got off the elevator! Still, it was awesome! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I also met John Stamos (Uncle Jesse in Full House) when he was on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He was also a really nice guy! That's about as close as I've gotten to fame! |
Ed Norton- not the Opie and Anthony- Ed Norton?? Let me know!
Larry Bird Had drinks with him at his restaurant in Terre Haute (The Boston Connection) -- Got his autograph and he bought my sorority sister ( it was her 21st b'day) a sweatshirt from his giftshop. He is the best!!!! So friendly and sincere! Sue ------------------ "It is not something you just become; it is something you've always been." |
I posted on like the first page, but I've thought of some more.
When I was in 8th grade I went to Opry Land and stayed in the Opryland Hotel. It happened to be the weekend of miss teen or something and I met Miss Alaska. She gave me this pin that was "courtesy of the state of Alaska." At City Stages(all alabamians should know what I'm talking about) Splendor was there. Me and some of my friends were walking around and ran into them!!! The lead singer kissed each of us on the cheek and I took a drag off of his cigar. (yuck, I know) I've also met the dudes from Shades Apart. I got Bowling for Soup's autographs and a pic!!!! My friend won tickets to live in the X lounge for Hootie and the Blowfish, so I got their autographs too!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Has anyone outside of AL heard of: Vertical Herizon, Bowling for Soup, Splendor, or Shades Apart? They're small bands but have had many a song played on radio stations around here. Just wondering how far their fame reached. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ University of Alabama--- ROLL TIDE!!!!!
