Hey all, just putting in my two cents:
favs: Double Whiskey Sour (in a short glass) Keith's (ma local brew) Cement mixer (shot of irish cream, shot of lemmon juice, shoot lemmon first, then irish mixed in, mmmmmm good) and a personal fraternal fav drink: YUK! (yeah that's the name, if y'all wanna know how it works, it's not just a drink or a game, it's an experience) just ask for it, and i'll post it for you. I just have to see if there is a demand for it from the hardcore fans out there! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Edgar A. Kevin,
I am planning a trip to Ireland this summer! Short notice, but if it works out, I will be drinking Guiness in an authentic Irish pub! How awesome is that? Have you ever been there or desire to go? Gerwurtraminer is a German wine, I guess, but mostly I have had ones that came out of Napa. I would also really like to plan a little weekend getaway to Napa in the fall, right around harvest time. I am so close, but have not been! Gerwurt. is kinda light, easy to take. not as dry as Chardonnay. Maybe too sweet for some? Chile does have great wine! I have recently had Cabernet and Chardonnay (I think?) from there, and they were both quite nice! My fave wine memory was when I went to France when I was 20 and smuggled a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau back to California. I was sooo nervous at Customs, but they didn't even question me! Also, I hear Australia has great Shiraz. Have you tried that? I just recently did...got a $10 bottle from the grocery store. That's what I like about wine. You can get the cheap kind and it still tastes good, before you invest in the more expensive bottles! |

That wine is actually called Gewuerztraminer, literally translated from German: "spicy (from the town of) Tramin" (Tramin is a town in the German speaking province of Southern Tyrole in the Italian Alps) - just in case anybody cares. |

I actually spent six months in Dublin last year. Council Travel can get you a work visa if you're a student or recent graduate. You'll love it there! Just note that the Guinness over there is different than it is here. It goes down a little lighter and smoother with a slightly bitter taste. Over here it's much thicker for some strange reason. In Ireland you would never consider having a Black&Tan. Corrupting your Guinness is like sacrelidge(sp?) Anyway, if you want advice about pubs in Dublin or youth hostels I can fill you in. |
Wow, you guys scare me, you really do.
But anyone who loves REAL tequila, not that flavored crap, is okay with me! LOL Seriously, every time we hit Mexico, I buy a particular bottle, the brand of which is my secret, and it ain't CHEAP, to hoard. Smooth, so smooth! I have finally tried an alchypop at a graduation party last week, and it was god! The Hooch Lemonade? It sneaks up on you. I am having a party this month, so I am combing this list for ideas, thanks Party Central! Have you all checked out the cool drinks website? It's got hella (I took it back to Cali old school) recipes! |
Alright, here it is the directions to the greatest drinking experience on the face of the earth (i'd say better than the purple jesus mystery bus tour)
Yuk! Start by getting enough people to drink, should be at least 5 people. Sit them in a circle. and bring out the bottle. Before the circle you must prepare the bottle, take one of those 4l jugs of water containers, empty it, pour in a 40 of vodka or more if you are daring (most we did was a 66er and a 40) add sugar cubes, sliced lemon and lime pieces, gummi bears, worms, and fish. and the secret ingredient (e-mail me if you are up for this), cap the bottle and set in the fridge for 10 mins. Sit at the circle and set a timmer for 30 mins, get the bottle and shake it as hard as you can for a few mins, then pass it on clockwise to the next person, continue this for the whole 30 mins, try to time it so the 30 mins ends with the person who is holding it is a new one to try Yuk! or is a cheap drunk. At the 30 min mark, crack it open and chug as much as u can of the liquid, pass it on to the next who will chug as well, do this until all the liquid is gone, then cut the top off the bottle, and eat the insides, oh man it's great and will most likely get you drunk. This is a tradition that was passed from one of our chapters on to us, it has become a fav here for us to do on special occasions. Try it and lemme know what you think http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Edgar A. SuperXO,
Wow, thats awesome. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I never have been to Ireland, but I'd love to go someday. I think it would be loads of fun and a great time. You'll have to tell us how the Guiness fares there and just the Irish in general. I love your French story http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif LOL No, I've never had Shiraz. I'll have to try it sometime. I know what you mean about wine. I usually have the cheap stuff but you really cant tell. I mean I have Paul Masson, Gossamer Bay, or Almaden. Sometimes my Dad is pretty cool and works his base discount and gets a fountain box of Almaden. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I have this chilean bottle of wine thats 91, Conche y Toro(merlot) and I havent opened it. Maybe I'll do it for Thanksgiving or or something. I've never been to Napa or gone to any of the wineries there but I'd love to someday. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Kevin Quote:

I'm not really a beer drinker...my favorites are Fuzzy Navels (or just Peachtree straight), Smirnoff Ice, and Woodchuck. I also like Jack Daniels. I'll pretty much drink anything.
|
I would also like to add to the list...Midouri Sours and Melonballs. Yummy...
I wish my friends from Michigan would hurry up and get here...I feel like an alcoholic drinking alone!! |

Thanks so much for the tip! I would hate to commit a faux pas my first time in Ireland! Seriously, I am trying to work out the details in the next few weeks and if I end up going later this summer, I will definitely contact you! Thanks for the offer. I bet you had sooo much fun! |
Anybody else think Doc Otis Lemonade is NASTY. I bought that out of deserpation at a gas station this past weekend. We were out of beer and it sounded okay. YUCKY. I took one sip and never finished the bottle. WHAT A WASTE.

My friends drink something called "Sweet Tart" which is made of grain alchohol, orange soda, and grape and cherry Kool-aid. It is really good and tastes exactly like Sweet Tarts.
|
For beer I love rolling rock hands down. I'd go with Lin's red second, and Bass third. I like Guiness when a good bartender pours it, but not in general. I definitely can't stand MGD or anything like that.
For hard liquor, I'll take vodka based drinks. I'm not a big fan of gin at all. I generally don't like the taste of hard liquor though, so I slam back as much as possible in as little time as possible. I'd have to say that the best tasting would probably be a white russian or a long island iced tea. The most disgusting drink I ever had was a cement mixer. Oh and I really got caught off guard when I was at a party and drank from a keg spiked with everclear...definitely threw up from that. |
IF I was of legal drinking age my favs would be...
Heineken in a glass bottle of course! (not much of a beer drinker at all) Good Long Island White Wines or cheap stuff Screwdriver! Rum & coke I stay away from red punch drinks...ugh |
I've decided!
I'm going to start the healthy shot a day it's the same as taking two aspirin a day I'm going to have one mixed drink daily if feasible Scotch & soda probably and maybe try to work my way to drinking with the yuppies by having a scotch on the rocks when I'm out but if you've never tried scotch it's quite an acquired taste anyone think this makes me an alcoholic I never really party & drink I usually stay DD this is just my way of practicing social drinking you might say...hehehe cheers~ |
HeHeHe
I went and bought a bottle of Hinnessey last night Now I can have Alize& Hinnessey when I feel like listening to rap - The Alize I have? Passion, or better known to 2pac fans as "Thugg Passion" |
Hennessy on the rocks with lemon
Crown (Royal) on the Rocks **sometimes Seagram's Gin and Cranberry juice or Hawaiian Punch Beer: Budweiser Michelob Light Corona w/lime |
I am a Coors Lite kinda Kid. Or Also drink KEYSTONE! My fav. I also will drink "blue Quail" officially known as Lone Star Light. Leaves ya with an evil hangover tho.
As for mixed drinks. Long Island Iced Tea, Cosmopolitan, OR BUTTERY NIPPLE! Mmmmmm. Also a Southern Slam - Southern Comfort, 7 - Up and a splash of Cranberry Juice. |
Boring, but great (as long as it is mixed right) Captain 'N Coke (Pepsi is actually better, but just have a habit of saying Coke with it).
|
My favorites come from the vodkatini family, specifically made with Charbay vodka (lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit) or Stoli flavors (all except pepper and cinnamon).
Of those, gimlets (w/Rose's lime juice) are the best. |
I like screw drivers and jack daniels
|
I'm a light beer drinker myself, preferably Bud Light or Coors Light. If I drink anything harder it is always vodka. I can't stomach anything else.
|
shots...bacardi 151
beer...miller lite bottles mixed drink...amaretto sour and/ or the #1 party drink, jungle juice ( my b.f. makes it oh so well!!!) and i can't leave out jello and test tube shots @ BAR Baltimore...so yummy!!! |

Favorite beer is newcastle, hands down. There's a billboard on my drive from school to my parents house...it has an empty newcastle bottle and says "smile if you had it last night". Crackes me up every time. As for mixed drinks, Vodka tonics made with Stoli vanilla taste like cream soda with a kick. And Lemon Drop shots go down easier than anything, just be careful...they sneak up on ya! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

A year and 27 days and i will be 21!!! I don't care for beer and that is what most parties have. if I could drink I would like Mike's Hard Lemonade, Screwdrivers, and lemon drops. My ex made a special concoction of long island ice tea that was slamming. Does anyone else do tiger breakfasts during homecomeing?
|
I'm a beer and wine snob - no light beers or wine in a box for me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Favorite beers: Guinness, Harpoon IPA Favorite wines: Red, especially Cabernet and Merlot. I will drink some white wines (Sauvignon Blanc, etc) but I won't touch American Chardonnays - too sweet. Favorite mixed drinks: - Vodka tonics made w/ lemon vodka - if I make them myself * - Very dry Tanqueray martini straight up with a twist - Margarita on the rocks - 4 parts tequila, 1 part triple sec, 1 part lime juice Hard liquor: Scotch! * Rule #1 of drinking in a bar: DO NOT order a mixed drink unless it is all alcohol (like a martini). They will water it down so much that a 4 year old could drink it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif |
OK, my mixed drink of choice is rum and coke. I don't care if it's Bacardi or Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. But no lime! I was also all about some Hurricanes when I was down in Mardi Gras! Mmmmmmm...
Fave beer is Bud Light. I don't care what anyone says. I love it. I also like wine coolers, but I'm a girl. I'm allowed to. Fave shot is the Buttery Nipple, but I also like Royal Flushes and Red-Headed Sluts. Other than that, I am not very picky about alcohol! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
oh yeah i live in south carolina where bars still use mini-bottles, so you always know exactly what you're getting and how much. it's sweet!
|
I'm not too much of a drinker but I'm willing to try almost anything as long it's not beer or anything with tequila in it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif My favorites are amaretto sour, long island ice tea and smirnoff ice. I tried a really great shot this spring too. It was called a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. If anyone is ever in the vicinity of FSU try this at Poor Pauls---they make it best (from what I've heard)
|
I'm a champagne fool with tequila and tabasco !
|
Well for beer, some of my favs:
Labatt Blue Molson Golden Bass Ale Magic Hat No. 9 Blue Moon and..on a burning hot summer day like today: Corona As for the hard stuff: Can't go wrong with a Gin and Tonic or a Vodka Tonic. Then if all else fails, get me some Jim Beam. |
I'm a big fan of anything vodka based, in particular, absolut citron and sprite, Cosmopolitans, and chocolate martinis, my absolute fav!
other than that, the only beer i'll drink (so far) is Rickards Red. (anyone know if this is sold stateside?) I like Apple Hooch, does anyone know if i can get this in the States or Canada? I haven't seen it yet. And this champagne, I think it's Spanish, called Asti, it's really nice and fruity. Oh, and Peller Estate Niagara Iced Wine. If any of you like sweeter, fruitier drinks, this is perfect, tho a tad expensive. ------------------ Travelling with no boundaries, moving in imaginary. |
Im not much of a beer drinker, but when I do drink beer only coors light or corona w/lime..
I'm definately a vodka girl.. Peach Stoli or Raspberry Stol or Absolut Mandarin & Cranberry Absolut Cape Cod Ras. Stoli or Strawberry Stoli & Sprite Caramel Apple Martinis Tokyo Tea Coconut Margarittas Ace Pear cider |

Forgot one, I also love Purple Hazes...it's vodka, chambord, cranberry juice, and sour mix. A little expensive to make pitchers of (trust me, personal experience here), but really really good. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
