I'm loving the Heroes commercials.
|
I liked the Pepsi one early on that showed "then" and "now" type clips.. Gumby, then Shrek, etc. I liked the Bud one where they threw the guy out the window. I liked the Doritos commercial where each thing he wished came true until his Doritos were gone and he was hit by the bus.
Where exactly was I supposed to get 3D glasses for those commercials and for Chuck 3D tomorrow night? No idea. |
Dwayne Johnson needs to be stopped. Someone has to step in and give him a career Intervention.

Agree. I have not been impressed this year, but I loved Mr. Potato Head and the Doritos Commercial of the biotchy woman on the phone at the outdoor cafe. What is with all of these commercials for movies and TV shows? |
|
They thought there would be more commercials for movies because we're in a recession and Hollywood doesn't suffer much during recessions.
Live-in thinks that there are so many TV show commercials because maybe NBC wasn't able to sell all their spots - but we're not sure of that. |

I heard something on the radio this week about NBC not being able to sell all the spots because the US auto industry wasn't buying any advertising time and they are usually some of the biggest sponsors.
I missed Mr. Potato Head. Apparently you can catch them all on zulu.com ETA: I just saw the second commercial for the health care system that I work for. Since this is a local health care system, I presume some slots are reserved for local advertising? I don't know how any of that works, but if it was really $3 mil for 30 seconds or whatever, I'd much rather have gotten a raise this year than to have them advertising during the Super Bowl. Surely they aren't charging local places that much for just their region? |
|
We noticed that all the car ads were "foreign" - except for Audi if you can count them - aren't they owned by one of the big three?
|
No, Audi is owned by Volkswagen
Yep, love the Mr. Potato Head commercial :) |
Ahh - my mistake.
|
so can we blame the commercial quality this year on the recession?
|
My son's comment was "What's the big deal about these commercials?"
|
I don't know about quality but Coke Zero made me LOL.

Although companies have stumped up a record three million dollars for 30-second Super Bowl ad slots, the ads reflect the woes of the US economy. Gone are American car manufacturers like General Motors, Ford and Chrysler; in are Japanese and German cars, like Honda, Toyota and Audi. Federal Express will not be running an ad this year, and have said "specifically that it's an economic issue," said David Shoffner, a spokesman for Pavone, the advertising company that since 2004 has hosted the Spotbowl.com website on which Super Bowl-watchers can vote for their favorite ad. |
Loving the Troy Polamalu Coke Zero commercial! I heard that it was going to be a twist on the Mean Joe Green Coke commercial from the 70's, but it's a great twist!
|
^^^^Loved the Coke Zero.
