Grrrr. ha ha

BABELSUSA 03-19-2001 06:27 PM

My boyfriend in New Orleans, told me that the next time I went home, he will play for me, the song that reminds him of me. Its on the new ALbum. I swear, Dave MAtthews has the most awesome songs, on every CD he's come out with. Anyways, I dont remember the number or the name of the song. but it goes a little someting like this : "Why do I chase you like a child for candy, why do I do the things I do, I love you. You are my angel."
Its so sweet yall. Le Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

amycat412 03-19-2001 06:33 PM

the song is Angel and its AWESOME. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

amycat412 03-19-2001 06:46 PM

I really must get a life. LOL

Here's a Question:
What's Your "Say Goodbye" story?

Here's mine-
I have a friend. We've been friends for seven years. Only we've been more than friends many many many many many (shall I embarrass myself further here?) times. Dated for 9 months at one stretch, 3 months at another, that sort of thing, but always VERY VERY casually, well casual in all ways but the physical aspects! lol. We would be together irrespective of any relationship we were in (not proud to admit THAT, but its true. One day five years into our friendship he came over and told me he was in love with me. I was stunned. Thing is, I wasn't in love with him -- and that's when the whole thing became-- in Dave's words-- A Colossolly bad idea. But did I walk away just yet? Not quite. We tried, I tried, but in the end I had to "Say Goodbye" and just be his friend again.

So why the 5 minute message on my machine this weekend from his now engaged self? Hmmmm. Doesn't he know--

tomorrow, go back to being friends
not no lovers
you go back to your man
i go back to my wife
back to our lives, separate from each other
and when you see me, when i see you
we'll pretend we do not know
one time we two were lovers

See I TOLD you I need a life! LOL.
Amy

I'm not gonna share my 'say goodbye' because it's a memory i'd rather purge. Nothing personal guys.

It's hilarious, I leave work and by the time I'm home there's like 10 more messages to read. We have the most amazing thread going and what's it really about?? DAVE MATTHEWS!!
Honestly, i think it's just because the biggest greekchat addicts happen to be dmb fans. Put DMB and chronics like us together and what do you get? A thread that that has 20 posts in ONE DAY. LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif . We're nuts. Do you guys notice a seroiusly lack of male dmb fans??? Quite interesting I dare say....

LSUTigerGirl 03-19-2001 10:25 PM

Hey y'all--

WHEW!!! I'm FINALLY home. I had to go to a fundraising event for my college tonight!!! Anyways...I wasn't in too much trouble at work. My boss will probably forget by tomorrow.

Anyways...my "Say Goodbye" story is alot like yours Amycat. I won't go into specifics because I would be afraid that BABELSUSA(one of my closest sorority sisters) would chime in and fuss at me. HEHEHEHE...she knows the story and can't stand for me to relive it. LOL.

gphi2k--I also noticed the lack of guys on this post. But that's ok...between you, me, amycat, and prospectiverushee...we've kept this thread going STRONG!!!

Let's keep posting!!!

I LOVE DAVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Oh...and did I tell everyone...I get to look at him every time I turn on my computer because he's my wallpaper and my screensaver!!! It's Dave ALL the time.

hee hee yes, my personal motto is ALL DAVE ALL THE TIME. I have two of each CD, so that one can be in my car and one in my house at all times.

In every pic from my recent caribbean vacation I am wearing my DMB baseball hat.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif And, so far, I've kept this board a secret from one of my closest sisters, who would def. rail on me for my Say Goodbye story--she HATES him with a passion. LOL. Gotta love our sisters looking out for us, even when we're not!

prospectiverushee 03-20-2001 01:28 AM

I got you beat LSUTigerGirl! I get to look at Dave every morning when I wake up. I have a poster of him above my bed and I sleep the opposite way. So when I wake up Dave's lovely face is the first thing I see(after I put on my glasses of course http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif )

amycat412 03-20-2001 01:44 AM

Yes I will share with all who help me get rid of Ashley. ha ha Kidding of course, we don't want anything to HAPPEN to Ashely, just want Dave for OURSELVES.

I've been a Dave fan since '92, so I'm thinking, in terms of calling dibs...LOL.
ha ha

I LOVE HIM. I have 8th and 10th row seats for the two Vegas shows!!!

Wow, I'm begining to feel a bit more sane. No posters of Dave and only one copy of each disk.
But my boyfriend is convinced I'd break up with him if only Dave would have me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif . LOL.

I was listening to the new cd on my way home on the train yesterday and I was in such a trance that I almost completely missed my stop.

I'm very upset about my concert tix tho and it really stinks. I didn't think there was going to be a Toronto show, so I bought tix for the buffalo show, three days after they went on sale. Needless to say, the two tix cost me 170 bux canadian and Dave is on one side of the Stadium and I am on the other http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. Add to that the fact that he did indeed announce a Toronto show, BUT it falls the day after my brother's wedding and all my family will be here so there is no way i can go http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif . I'm so upset about my tickets. He'll be but a wee 'lil bug from that far http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif .

amycat412 03-20-2001 02:00 PM

Oh I LOVE after her--- the chorus is so great-- something like "i hope all these things happen with you" so sweet and tender.

I have the DMB original demo from Rutebega Studios and its on there and sounds great.

Spotlight too -- you guys know that one? Its an oooooldie, but great!

MORE TRIVIA:

"Hello, how are you doing today?" is the first line to what song?

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Amy

amycat412 03-20-2001 04:18 PM

God, I need a life. LOL.

here are the lyrics to AFTER HER, the original SATELLITE:

Sun will shine no matter what I do
Sun shines bright now with you
What a wonderful thing for you to do
Moon shine bright reflections in your eyes
A finer place he could not find

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasen
Everything good needs replacing
Hope all these changes happen with you

In my life never before have I lover so adored
Her eyes her hair everything she says
My delight can tickle me inside
Touch my heart touch my mind

No matter what's inside, I'll give to her
No need to satisfy my hunger lost in her
And while I spend these hours, five senses reeling
With biggest steps I'm running, after her I will run

Winter cold, spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasen
Everything good needs replacing
Hope all these changes happen with you

Sun will shine no matter what I do
Sun shines bright now with you
Touch my heart touch me through

No matter what's inside, I'll give to her
No need to satisfy my hunger lost in her
And while I spend these hours, five senses reeling
With biggest steps I'm running, after her I will run

Granny

Here's a tough question. Let's see how observant all you DMB fans are

What do Under The Table and Dreaming,Crash, Before These Crowded Streets, and Everyday all have in common. (there are 2 answers to this question. One should be obvious, the other kind of obvious but it all depends on how observant you are)

amycat412 03-20-2001 05:29 PM

1. they are all DMB STUDIO releases as opposed to the self released Remember Two Things and the Live releases.

2. Hmmmmm -- I'm gonna have to work on that a little...

damasa 03-20-2001 05:58 PM

hmmm *sigh* you stumped me on that last mini quiz amy, anyone else know the answer? I didn't konw if off the top of my head, and i don't feel like thinking...i'd rather just relax and be upset that i'm not with my brothers on spring break http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

But for the answer to that 2nd question:
it can be totally opinionated, unless someone has asked dave the meaning, but i think they are all related and symbolize the popularity of bands musci...under the table and dreaming, the dream has begun, but not fully expanded. Crash, the dream has hit, the popularity is there, the fan base is there, and for the band it's just undescribable. Before these crowded streets, the band is now beginning to believe the popularity of their music, and it is no longer a fantasy or a dream, but a reality.
And everyday, well kinda speaks for itself, how the band now fully understand the full capacity of their music and its affect on the fans, and they live it, love it, everyday.
Like i said...opinion, but that's what i believe, or like to anyway :P

In my best Alex Trebec voice...

That's a very good answer, but I'm sorry that is not correct.

Keep trying... I swear once you find out what the answer is,you'll be kicking yourself.

I'VE GOT IT prospective rushee!

The second answer is...

In each album somewhere in one of the lines in one of the songs is the title of the album...

On BEFORE THESE CROWDED STREETS:
the dreaming tree:
standing here the old man said to me
long before these crowded streets

On CRASH:
Obvious.

On EVERYDAY:
Obvious

On UNDER THE TABLE...
ants marching:
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well, his concerns, he forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming

And if that's NOT the answer, it should be! ha ha

damasa 03-20-2001 11:04 PM

yea...i was kicking myself after i found out lol...

coffeemug 03-20-2001 11:19 PM

Can I join the fun?? I am a new member in terms of the DMB...I will admit but I can't believe I waited so long to "pledge" to DMB!!

I love his music it is amazing!! Did anyone see him on 60 minutes??

Anyways...I have to rival Amy in eligibility to marry Dave. When did you graduate undergrad? I am probably older than you! Plus I have a history of dating men with receeding hairlines, so he fits my M.O. perfectly. (hey their are a lot of men in the world with receding hairlines and someone has to date them! LOL)

OK this is fun...Amy are your Napster files still OK in view of the recent
nap-happenings??

stacey

damasa 03-20-2001 11:22 PM

damn...killin the doods with the receeding hairlines...it's not all looks...some yea..but hey when we are all 60..we will be bald, fat and have thick glasses...so it's all kewl...i hope http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

amycat412 03-20-2001 11:53 PM

YES! Prospectiverushee that was a GREAT question all day I was thinking, what do the albums have in common--it drove me NUTS! ha ha

I'll post another trivia in a bit...

Coffeemug, my 10 year college reunion is this year, so Mr. Matthews is only 2 years older than my old self. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ha ha I think my Napster files are ok as they are all from Live shows/Demo tapes and DMB allows taping of their shows... let me know if you want to check them out, i'm in Los Angeles and generally connect to napster on my office's T-1...

Whew. My brain STILL hurts from coming up with that trivia answer. ha ha

[This message has been edited by amycat412 (edited March 20, 2001).]

damasa 03-21-2001 01:42 AM

wow..too too much info to read...but seems to be some hardcore dave fans here....
My favorite song would have to be the original of satelite...when it was called after her...and the words were totaly different..i hear it was about his first love or something like that...great song..
then would be Dream I Killed God<---this song is the S(#*!
Two step is also great..live at red rocks version is the best imo.

amycat412 03-21-2001 04:58 AM

WHO is the #36 about and what is their significance to Dave?

Sheesh! I leave work, come back the next day and there are TWENTY more posts on this thread! This is the fastest growing thread. It's hilaroius. I love it!!!

I have downloaded live versions of two step that are even better. Both have a salsa thing goin' on in there. One version I have is 12 minutes long. It's the best version I've ever heard. Even better than the RedRocks version, which is, of course, amazing.

I knew the answer to that annoying trivia question darned it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif !!! Didn't get a chance to answer http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif . oh well. I can't remember the answer to the #36 question. I used to know it. I did! I swear!!!
