Lynne Spears? Parenting book? Why does the mere thought of such a thing terrify me? |
Even better, it was supposed to be published by a CHRISTIAN publishing company. I think JL will be fine. Britney on the other hand, I worry about her.

I read in a few places this morning that JL is LIVING with this guy. Nice parenting, Mama Spears, letting your 16-year-old live with her boyfriend.

1. Hunter Tylo did sue Aaron Spelling & won because he was afraid she would not be considered "sexy" if she was pregnant. 2. Hunter Tylo was on an adult show with other adults that was targeted for adults. JL is on a show made for tweens. Totally different situation. |
I would definately and highly assume that Nickoldeon has a morals clause for its teen stars. They would be stupid if they didnt. These are kids that are looked up to and idolized by younger kids ( case in point my 8 yr old son). There are only few shows i let him watch and unfortunately Zoey was one of them. Now i wont let him watch her at all.
Also in the article it said season three is running right now and season 4 has just finished filming with a cliff hanger for zoey to choose to stay at PCA or go to london to be with her parents......geeeee i wonder now! This is a shame i was hoping she was the one spears with a brain and was going to be better then her trashy sister. |
Why cant he still watch the show? Zoey is a character, not a real person.
And since Nick appears to be standing by her, I think that there is not a clause pertaining to pregnancy/sex in her contract. Maybe drinking or drug use. And where is Mr. Spears? I'd be really interested to see what he thinks about all of this. Some 19 year old knocks up my 16 year old and best believe her father would have some words with him. The only Spears with a brain appears to be the brother, Bryan. Lynne Spears needs to sit down and get some help. Britney needs some real friends to tell her about herself, and Jamie Lynn needs to stop selling her story to OK! Magazine. |
I don't understand why someone wouldn't let their child watch the show. Let them watch it if it's good, but don't let them watch Entertainment Tonight or read Tiger Beat or whatever. You don't need to know about someone's personal life to watch and enjoy a TV show.
I think the fact that she is pregant is sad, but the fact she is HAVING the baby and owning up to the fact she is pregnant is a step in the right direction. I know that the baby daddy isn't on TV, but if he was, would his show be off limits as well? |

I guess I don't really judge her or anything, since I certainly didn't wait until I got married at 25 to have sex. I guess I judge her a little for not finding a way to be more responsible with BC (assuming she isn't the .2% that will still get pregnant on BC). But more than anything, I guess I just feel really sad that she will probably loose out on a lot of opportunities and will have to grow up a lot faster than her peers. |

There is no reason with the resources she has to have unprotected sex - she's not some ignorant hillbilly without book learnin' - and you'd think she'd have learned from Brit Brit's troubles with K-Fed that even if the guy loves you today, tomorrow might be a different story. She's put a lot of people's jobs and livelihoods on the line with her irresponsible actions, from her costars right down to the makeup man and the guy who cleans the studio. When you're a star of a TV show, you can't just think about yourself. |

I do think it would be horrible if she had an abortion, because it's teaching the young girls that look up to her that it's okay to have sex and get pregnant, because you can always just have an abortion. |

cutiepatootie has every right to decide what her child(ren) watch on tv.it's not right to jump on her for the decision she has made.
maybe if lynn spears had exercised a little parental discretion or guidance with her girls, they wouldn't be in the messed up places they are now. |

Oh, I do hope this latest news will affect sales of Mama Spears' parenting book due out on Mother's Day.

Lynn Spears saw $$$ when her daughters became celebrities. Why else would you sell a story to a tabloid about your 16 year old getting pregnant? |

I doubt the paparazzi today would have let her drop out of sight for a while (like Loretta Young did in the 1940s) to have a baby. And I think she is a 16 year old girl who has been thrust into an adult world (Hollywood) without much guideance. She has made the same mistake that plenty of 16 year old girls have made, only she is making it in public. |

Jamie Lynn could have done that. The focus is on her sister so much, she could have just discontinued her show and had the baby quietly. If you do things quietly the press doesn't make a big deal. If you go public with it like it's an extravaganza it's because you want it to be.
Oh Miss Lynne. *Shakes head* What are you thinking? We love you and you know you didn't start out like this! What's going on? |

Radio was saying today that the next season of Zoey (I think that is the name of JL's show?) has already been taped... so no one is sure if she's going to get the ax.
I think this is incredibly stupid, not just of her, or her mom, but also of the guy that she has been dating. He's 19. Doesn't he know it's illegal to have sex with a minor? Click here for Perez Hilton's story on this 'morally upright... devot Christian 16-yr old with a spotless reputation'.... it's possible she might be more preggers than she is saying she is..... |

I know it's hard for us to remember how we felt and thought as 14-16 year olds, but I think we can all agree that a 16 year old does not think as a mature adult. Sixteen year olds - most of them anyway - don't really grasp the full consequences of their actions. They go with their gut, their feelings, and don't reason the way adults do. Many teens - and young adults - have unprotected sex all the time. Not because they don't know any better, because "safe sex" education has been shoved down most of their throats, but because they just don't care. As insane as that is to adults, they just don't care...they're too busy thinking about the fun their having. We can only blame parents so much for the actions of their kids. When it comes to sex, I really think all a parent can do is make sure their kids have information and offer a supportive ear; some kids will heed the advice they've heard at home/in school, and others will blow it off. That is a bad decision that kids make for themselves, knowing what the consequences are, but just not caring enough to stop themselves from preventing the consequences.
Regarding the stat. rape comments, even if it's rape in Calif., the L.A. County prosecutor is not going to press charges. This is a celebrity, and everyone knows that celebs. in Hollywood have totally different dating/mating habits than "normal" people. This guy wasn't predatory, which is the primary reason for statuatory rape laws - J.L. Spears does not live the lifestyle of a typical teenage girl. Also, it's clear her mother at least knew about their relationship and was fine with it...even though charges are brought by the prosecutor, in the case of stat. rape, I don't think they'd often appear in a courtroom in the case where a parent has no complaints. |

Ok, how old IS the guy? Some sources say 18 and some say 19. And in some states, that one year makes all the difference in a statutory rape case.
I don't understand why we're talking about how she could/could not have disappeared for a while to have the baby and give it up for adoption. She chose to keep it, so isn't that a moot point? And honestly, if she wasn't Britney's little sister, no one would even care about this story. Lots of minors have sex, and unfortunately lots of them get pregnant. |

Besides, if we stuck to discussing the facts in the story there really wouldn't be much to discuss, would there? Tramp's little Tramp sister tramps herself out and gets pregnant. End of story. Everyone can go home now. |

She isn't a star on an adult show where they could have written in the pregnancy or worked around it. Does it kind of stink that people are judging her for doing something lots of 16 year olds do? Yeah. But she also makes more money than most people will see in their lives. That's the price you pay for celebrity. |
