You have my prayers as well. Keep me in mind too. I have been approached by my boss at work in regards to an interview for a new position. This position will move me up in the agency as well as pay me more $$ and I will have more time to spend with my family. My interview is Friday and I hate to say that I am a little nervous. I am excited about the prospect of moving up, I guess I'm just concerned about doing a good job if I am blessed with this opportunity. Thanks!

I could not even fathom what it would be like to learn that at almost 30 years of age, the mother and father that you knew were not your biological parents.

Update: After weeks of searching, she spoke with her biological mother in Oklahoma this morning. I cannot wait to hear the details. :D

I'm not the most religious person. However, I know that HE takes care of things (problems, situations etc.) in his own way.

So, today I prayed for God to show me whether something was meant for me. I am not sure if he answered my prayer that quickly. But, while watching TV this man (I'm not sure what his name is) went to on to say, "If you are bitter, disappointed, and discouraged let it go." So this very minute as I have decided to LET IT GO this burden without being nasty, devious or callous "I will let it go." All that I ask from you, the GC community is to pray me please.

Thank you

abaici 12-29-2004 11:44 AM

GCrs, please lift me up in prayer. I don't want to get too specific, but I just lift me up in general.

Prayers and Advice needed

SF, and Greek members:

My younger sister stephanie is going to need amputation. she has gangrene in parts of her hands and feet i believe partly do to a blood disease that we are not sure how she got it. my sister has ulcerative colitis and primary scholerosing cholangitis. these are diseases that affect her digestive system. most recently she had a port placed in. with that surgery there was risk of infection and her doctor here recommended that she not have it. she was able to get a second opinion and had the surgery.

the psychological affects will be immeasurable; this i can handle having had personal and familial experience with depressive disoders. what i am asking is tri-fold:

any scriptures that may be comforting to her. any books or writings that may help her. my sister tends to wallow in self pity and at some point i want her to be able to work through that.

those who are in patient care, rehabilitation or anyone who has experience dealing with amputees, from a medical standpoint, what type of blood disorders can cause gangrene or excessive clotting of the blood. what i am having trouble with is the fact that my sister was in the hospital for 2 months. she was in a bed so why was there appropriate treatment to keep her circulation at an acceptable level?

lastly, for the attorneys and law students, what legal issues will my familly have to look at?

fyi, i am ok. im sad for my sister but right now i am thinking of my mother and how she is going to make this a drama filled situation doing more harm than good. ive had to correct her more than twice on my role in the family relative to my sister. so right now im on the defensive.

any and all help is appreciated.

BTW: she was at the Univ. of MD hospital and most recently at Johns Hopkins.

ladygreek 04-01-2005 01:00 AM

Oh Darling1,

Your sister is definitely in my prayers. I can't offer any scripture, but I can say that when my daughter was diagnosed with MS we took the "let's be thankful it isn't xyz approach." In other words let's be thankful that it wasn't ovarian cancer or a brain tumor--all things the had tested for before they reached a diagnosis.

ETA: After reading more in SF, I realized the above sounds kinda lame. I think the improtant thing for you to do is to continue to comfort your sister.

Continue any research into her conditions and glean anything hopeful to pass along to her. As stated in SF, get your questions answered my the staff. Sometime medical staff can be reticent to answer questions, but keep pushing until you are statisfied The more you know, the better you will be in passing along reassurance to your sister.

Is Ava allowed to visit? I'll sure that sweetie puts a smile on her face.

Honeykiss1974 04-13-2005 03:14 PM

Hi ladies,

On Friday, I'm going in for a CT scan. During my regular yearly exam, my doctor found "something" in my abdomen after an x-ray, still can't tell what it is. She doesn't know if its a tumor (or cancerous), a fibroid, or what, so please join me in prayer for not only peace concerning this situation, but also for healing as well.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" II Cor 4:16-18

Remember, faithful ones, regardless as to the chaos that may be unfolding before our eyes, the tears, the uncertainity of it all, our Father is working RIGHT NOW - through the situations that we are currently facing. There is a blessing in everything that happens for His words tells us that "all things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose". No earthly event catches Him off guard. There is nothing He can't use for His glory - which is what happens when we perservere, when we stand strong.

May these verse help everyone....

1Peter 1:7 So be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine.

1Peter 5:10 Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little

James 5:11 See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job's endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord: the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

2Cor 12:10 not only this I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

I have already claimed that it is just a fibroid.

Honeykiss1974 04-19-2005 04:29 PM

Thank you everyone that offered prayers for my situation. I found out today that it is indeed two fibroids. Praise Jesus that it isn't anything more serious.

And for those that may still be waiting, remember, our Father is ALWAYS right on time with His peace, comfort, and answers.

Please pray for the families of 3 University of Illinois alumni who passed in a car accident early Sunday morning (about 5 AM). They were driving back to the city after visiting the campus for the weekend when their car crossed the median and crashed with a pick up truck. One of the passengers in the pick up passed away as well, so please remember their family too. This was such a wake up call to me b/c the victims were soo young. They all just graduated btwn May 2003 - Dec 2004. One of the young men attended HS w/me as well as U of I, and I just can't believe that's he's gone. I can't believe that any of them are gone.

TonyB06 05-11-2005 08:25 AM

Please pray for my best friend. He's 41, married, 3 kids, and was just diagnosed with cancer. We've known each other for about 18 years, and IMO, he is good peeps and one of the best brothers KAY has ever had.

He and his wife are holding up. But those that know the worth of prayer, please send a few up for my boy.

WenD08 05-11-2005 04:36 PM

how sad. he'll be in my prayers and i hope he'll have a full recovery.

Honeykiss1974 05-11-2005 10:40 PM

TO TonyB(his friend) and anyone else needing to be healed, remember...

Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

testimony

I will definitely keep everyone in my prayers.

I did want to share a testimony to help others remember that the prayers of the righteous availeth much.

My sister is expecting her first baby and around month 5 she started having serious issues. They didnt think he wanted to stay in much longer. She was on strict bedrest for months and then one day the problem was just gone. Docters couldnt figure out why but we give God all the glory. My first nephew will be here next month and hes already almost 7 pounds still inside. :D

Soror, Finallypink thanks for your testimony.

Soror RD, I'm gonna start this out by quoting one of those sayings that folks throw around: "There is no testimony without a test". It sounds trite, but it's true. I know what you mean by this being a rough time in your life, 'cause I'm going through a bit of a row myself. But I keep telling myself that it won't always be this way and there are definitely bigger and brighter days ahead. Now to the saying I started out with. Look at it also as when you get through this thing (and you will get THROUGH it) you'll be able to help someone else that may be going THROUGH the same thing.

I emphasized the word THROUGH because you're not going to stop - you're going in one side and opposite the other - until you're victorious!

That's the key right there. That's my motivation to keep it moving. I can't wait to experience those bigger and better days!!!!! So if I gotta go through all this, it'll all be worth it. I'm trusting the process and trying to learn all the lessons in it so I don't have to go through it again. And I'm preparing myself to be able to handle the blessings that come my way. I'm just being prepared and I accept the preparation (even in my tears). The good thing is my job keeps me grounded and reminds me: things could always get worse, Monique, check yo'self.

I am keeping you ALL in my prayers.

EchoGyrl 02-16-2006 03:11 PM

Definitely keeping you all in my prayers.

Also, please keep me in your prayers. I am going through a very difficult situation right now and striving to cope as best I can. Please pray that I come through this "valley" experience victoriously.

I just want to say thank you to everyone for your prayers of support....February 6, 2006 was an extremly hard day... but I felt some strength. Thank you.
