Can't have it both ways.
We(GLOs) are all voluntary associations. This is the argument we've made every time a college tries to tell us who to accept as members (single-sex), every time the government tries to treat us like public organizations. While we are free to set up voluntary groups(IFC, Pan-Hel, Panhel, etc) and even extend those voluntary groups on a national or international basis, we cannot be true to our contentions if we do not agree that anyone has that same right. While the NPC sororities have the right to decide amongst themselves their own rules, they cannot expect outsiders to operate by those rules.

In case anyone is interested in how this situation is progressing, a non-NPC national group has been selected and contacted about expansion. An interest group has been formed and will be meeting this semester in order to attempt an expansion process.
Also, thank you so much to the girls who expressed interest in expanding their local organizations to our campus. We were unfortunately informed that local organizations are not allowed at our school, and were thus unable to consider your groups in our process (although we would have loved to!). But thank you again SO much for you messages and support. <3 |
Congratulations!

Basically, since the semester at my school hasn't started yet, myself and the other core girls interested in bringing this organization to campus are collecting the necessary information from our friends who are interested, to provide to the school. [We have to register as a student group this semester and we need ID#s and GPAs from all of the aspirants]. Once the semester begins I have to go into the Greek Life office and fill out some paperwork to make us all official, and provide the office w/ information we're currently collecting. Once that is accomplished we will be able to function as a student organization for the semester, and when the semester closes, the MCGLO that we're looking to become a colony of will vote on whether our group is ready/appropriate for expansion. Right now we only have the specific requirements from our college on what we must accomplish this semester, and once we meet with a rep from the org, we will have theirs as well. It is going to be a busy but fulfilling semester, I have a feeling, and we're all really excited. :) It seems like everyone here enjoys following stories, so I'll try and keep you all posted as anything interesting transpires. [Btw I have a feeling this should move to another location at this point, since I'm not pursuing a "local" anymore. Anyone know how to accomplish that? ] |
The "MCGLO" really lowers the number of possible orgs....mmmmm
