Those are little bugs known as midges (Canadian Soldiers, Muffleheads, etc). They are attracted to heat and light and once they lights went on, they came off the lake. I had to laugh when they brought out the bug spray. Bug Spray doesn't help because Midges don't bite. But, they are annoying and I have seen entire buildings covered with them.

Years ago, when Lake Erie was dirty, we didn't have the midges. Now that the lake is clean, we have them.

I still have a lake front condo, but I don't live there. That is the only thing that my tennant has complained about.

New York here we come! I think that is where the Tribe dished out NYY's worst lost ever last year.

Humm-why was it when I first heard of the bugs I thought of what they do up in the Homer Dome?????;):p:D:)

deadbear80 10-06-2007 10:24 PM

Sitting in my usual seats about 20 rows behind home plate at Wrigley (and sadly, for this game, 5 rows behind the family/wives of the Diamondback players) I witnessed the worst playoff game I've seen (and yes, I was there in '98 when Maddux as a Brave burned the Cubs). At least in 2003 I had hope.

I guess it's 'wait until next year' yet again.

*sigh*

Oh...and go Rockies!

fraggle 10-07-2007 10:20 PM

SO MUCH FOR THE BUGS!!!!

GO YANKS!!!!!;)

2-1 now.
And name the only team, out of eight, that is repeating their place in playoffs from last year. Hummmm.

What do they do up in the Homer Dome? Maybe I'm stupid, but I just don't know.:eek:

For several years, there have been stories about certain stadiums-most if not all domes.
That somehow air currents change-via HVAC or doors.
Said changes either help home team or hinder visitors.
Most of the stories I have heard or read, IIRC, are football related.

There was a base ball movie a few year back that seemed to have a scene that played off of the story:
Manager had lights/power turned off and called it a power failure.

Gotcha. I read (while trying to figure out what you were talking about) that they (MLB) have separate rules just for the Homer Dome re: balls hitting the ceiling and speakers b/c it's so low!

Either way, the tribe obviously didn't bring their "game winning strategy" (bugs or air currents) along with them to NY.:D

Ree, I'm insanely jealous. BUT, if they win this series, I have tickets for game 1 of the ALCS. Fingers crossed!

OMG the game was INSANE!!! It was worth losing sleep over. Fenway is so intense. I tried to get pics but our seats were kinda sucky for picture taking.

Have an AMAZING time at your game! The boys will have a few days' rest, which rocks. I think Beckett is pitching.

CrimsonTide4 10-08-2007 12:45 PM

Ditto!!! :D I am very excited for the Indians!!

How Rude.
I liked it better when we were talking about baseball.
I also liked it better when the yankees were winning!;):D

It was rude, but the poster is Rudey. Anyway, the Tribe won, the bloated salary lost, and Cleveland advances to the playoffs.

I just goes to show George can't buy himself a winning team.

Listen you're repetitive about the salaries. Just shutup about it. If your crappy team beat the Yankees why does it matter? Oh wait it doesn't, and you're using redundant lines just so you sound cool.

It's even more annoying that your name is "Benzgirl" and you're criticizing what other people "buy".

-Rudey
--Oh and you were so very clever and witty saying I'm rude because I'm Rudey.

To be fair, the Yankees won 94 games this year (the Tribe won 96 in a considerably easier division), and "salary cost/win" is a completely useless exercise because the Yankees earn more marginal revenue per win (and per dollar spent) . . . so yeah, it's not like the Yankees are a clearly inferior team, especially considering the crapshoot nature of short-series baseball.

Plus, this Yankees team really doesn't represent the "bloat" in the same fashion as some past units - two of their top-5 pitchers by VORP are making under 500k (and 4 of the top 10), as well as 2 of their starting 9 (who also happen to be quite solid contributors according to any measure).

Look, I'm a massive Red Sox fan and think the "Yankee mystique" is propagated by douche bags and half-informed tards - still, though, this is kind of a weird needling, and doesn't really fit with any sort of reasonable analysis.

I understand just how hard it may be for you to defend the Yank. But thanks for very kind posting.
Which I do agree with.

Just one more game and it's over for the BoSox. :D

His beard is killing me! But, we love him anyway.

My 16 year old niece is in love with Garko, and keeps begging to stay up to watch the games on school nights.

Glad to have Iowa behind the Tribe.

thetaprincess 10-23-2007 01:26 PM

I totally dispise the red sox. THere fans are almost as bad as the yankees.

The Indians lost. How did they collapse so much? All I have to say is Go Roockies.

GIDP to end a huge threat, followed by an error? This was really the beginning of the momentum shift, culminating with Pedro's HR - and completely ruining the momentum gained with Lugo's error.

These things can matter a ton over the course of a game or AB - it's certainly a different game if he drives in Lofton after the 3B coach hangs him at third for no apparent reason.

I'm not going to gloat, especially because I haven't seen much love for the Red Sox here. But I am, and will always be, a Sox fan. Win, lose, whatever.

GO SOX!

macallan25 10-25-2007 02:11 AM

BoSox win series 4-1.

Daisuke loses first game in Denver. Rest is history.

sigtau305 10-25-2007 09:37 AM

Colorado will win it in seven.

mu_agd 10-25-2007 12:09 PM

I ain't got my taco!

Also, thank g-d I knew there was going to be a flyover at the start of the game because those things were damn loud.

madmax 10-22-2008 03:21 PM

Any predictions.

Haha, that's ok - this thread is directed more towards baseball fans anyway.
